The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei said
criticized international organizations for failing to administer aid to
flooded Pakistan, urging quicker assistance to help recover the country.
"Unfortunately, international organizations have not carried out their
duty well to render services to disaster-stricken people, which itself
needs to be analyzed and scrutinized," Ayatollah Khamenei said in a
statement on Tuesday.
Islamic Revolution Leader called on all Muslims across the world to
join hands in helping flood-hit Pakistanis.
"We are obliged to fulfill our duty and rush to help our devastated
brothers and sisters," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
More than 1,600 Pakistanis have lost their lives in the floods that
have hit nearly one fifth of the country. The UN says more than 17 million
Pakistanis have been affected, as five million people have been made
homeless as a result of the unprecedented floods.
The situation caused by the floods is worsening as hunger, lack of
hygiene and drinking water, and the threat of an epidemic have put lives
of many Pakistanis at risk.
The flooding is considered the worst in the country's history.

Presence of Foreigners in Afghanistan has only Brought Trouble, Sedition,
and Corruption
6.8.2010
(IRIB World Service) - The Leader of Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah
Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has stressed that the presence of foreigners (foreign
military forces) in Afghanistan has only brought trouble, sedition, and
corruption for the people of that country. Speaking on Thursday in a
meeting with the Presidents of Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Iran, the
Leader said it was painfully sad to watch the plight of the Afghan people,
which has come about because of the presence of foreign military forces in
that country. The Leader added: "Foreign military forces which invaded
Afghanistan promising to bring security and democracy to that country, are
today targeting and killing Afghan civilians, and their presence in
Afghanistan has brought the Afghan people nothing but trouble, sedition,
decay and corruption".
Elsewhere in his remarks Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei described the
reasons given by the major world powers for invasion and occupation of
Afghanistan, as shear lies, stressing that major world powers have
limitless greed, and are only after their own interests, and they don't
care about the afghan people.
The Leader added: "Current conditions in this region, and also the
capabilities of these arrogant powers are very different to what they were
in the past".
The Leader of Islamic Revolution added: "The America of today, is very
different to America of 20 years ago, because many changes and
developments have taken place, including 'Islamic awakening' which has
severely curtailed America's power and capabilities".
In further remarks, The Leader referred to the common heritage and many
commonalities shared by the three countries of Iran, Afghanistan and
Tajikistan, and stressed that security and progress and prosperity in
Afghanistan and Tajikistan will undoubtedly benefit Iran, in just the same
way that progress and security in Iran will surely benefit all regional
countries.
In further remarks, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei highlighted Iran's
considerable scientific and technological advancement in recent years,
stressing that Iran is prepared to provide Afghanistan and Tajikistan with
much-needed scientific and technological expertise, and to let these two
countries share Iran's scientific and technological advances.
The leader added: "Rarely do we come across three countries, such as
Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan, which have so much in common, so much
common heritage, whether linguistically, or in terms of religion, culture
and history".
During this meeting, the Tajik President, Imam Ali Rahman, and Afghan
president Hamed Karzai, made speeches and called for closer cooperation
and expansion of ties between the three countries.
