Leader Tells IRGC:
Prepare for Every Eventuality
Iran Daily 15.7.2010
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has
called on the authorities to be prepared for “every eventuality” and said
as in the past Iran will emerge the winner in confrontation with
adversaries.
In a meeting with commanders and personnel of the Islamic Revolution’s
Guards Corps (IRGC) on Wednesday, he said “All authorities should be
cognizant of and committed to their duties as was case during the past 31
years [since the Islamic Revolution in 1979]…Be prepared for all
eventualities.”
“Without doubt and as was in the past, the great Iranian people and the
Islamic Republic will emerge victorious in any confrontation [with enemies],”
IRIB quoted him as saying.
Pointing to the new sanctions imposed by the UN, US and EU and the
military threats by Israel and the US, Ayatollah Khamenei said “They [the
enemies] speak in a manner so as to make us believe that there is a very
serious threat behind all these threats.“Whether these threats are real or
fictitious, we must be ready for every and all condition to defend the
great Iranian nation.”
True Meaning
He referred to remarks by American officials regarding their non-stop
attempts to change Iran’s behavior and said “The true meaning of such
words is that they seek to change the course of the Islamic Republic.”
“What indeed has kept the Islamic Republic on track is the people’s
love for Islam and the country. This has turned the country into a bastion…But
if we change course and stop [supporting] Islam the aggressors and bullies
will find a foothold in Iran,” the Leader noted.
He pointed to progress and development in the country and said
“According to international estimates, Iran’s scientific progress is over
and above the global average. We are still far from reaching the zenith of
scientific growth, but we must not forget such honors [rapid progress].”
Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the unrest after last year’s disputed
presidential elections and said “Our youth and people have gained much
political experience due to the many incidents [and conspiracies] in the
country. Now they understand issues very well and even if they choose to
follow a dubious path at first they quickly change course when they find
out the truth. This was evident in last year’s incidents.”
Iran accused hostile western states -- particularly the US, Britain and
France -- and their media of instigating and supporting the post-election
violence in Tehran and some other cities that resulted in the death of at
least 30 people.

Iran's Islamic Revolution Leader has communicated to heads of the three
branches of government the macro-policies of an initiative he announced in
late March to reform the consumption pattern in the country.
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei underlined the need to promote frugality
and avoid extravagance, adding consumerism should be discouraged, the
Leader's website reported on Tuesday.
The Leader also highlighted productivity, and said the government as
well as public institutions should take the lead in 'observing the
consumption pattern'.
Energy efficiency also featured prominently in the Leader's
instructions.
Ayatollah Khamenei said comprehensive studies need to be conducted in
the country to optimize energy consumption, saying a national energy
productivity plan should be drawn up as well.
The Leader further stressed the need to improve public transportation,
boost the productivity of power plants, increase electricity generation
and institutionalize optimal consumption of water.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution has ordered the suspension of any
measures regarding the Islamic Azad University at the present time.
In two separate decrees to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Head of the Supreme
Council of Cultural Revolution (SCCR), and Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi
Rafsanjani, Head of the Board of Trustees of the Islamic Azad University,
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei called on them to maintain the status quo of
the Islamic Azad University by avoiding taking any measures for the time
being.
The secretariat of the founding board of the university said in a
statement that in the decrees, Ayatollah Khamenei ordered the suspension
of any measures, stating that disputes regarding the Islamic Azad
University have sparked "tedious and unnecessary discussions" among
certain Iranian officials.
The disputes surrounding the Islamic Azad University emerged after the
board of trustees headed by Ayatollah Rafsanjani announced last year that
it has endowed all removable and irremovable properties of the university.
Eight months later, the SCCR drew up new articles of association for
the Azad University and changed a number of members of the founding board.
The move prompted the founding board of the university to complain to
the country's judiciary and to call for the annulment of the SCCR's bill,
arguing the bill lacked religious and legal bases. A court in Tehran
consequently issued a verdict whereby it nullified the bill.
One day after that, the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) passed a bill under
which the SCCR's bill regarding the articles of association of the Islamic
Azad University had to be considered nullified.
The court's verdict and the bill by the parliament sparked strong
protests by supporters of the government.
Prosecutor General Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Eje'i called on Judiciary
Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani to nullify the verdict and to task
another court with the case. The request was accepted by Ayatollah
Larijani.
The Guardian Council also said that the legislation by the parliament
had ambiguities as well as religious and constitutional violations.
Founded in 1982, Islamic Azad University is Iran's largest private
chain of universities that consists of 357 branches and satellite campuses
throughout the country and an enrollment of 1.4 million students.

Leader places high
importance on national media
4.7.2010
The Leader of Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, has
stated that those who manufactured chemical weapons and provided Saddam
Hussein with these weapons to commit crimes against the Iranian nation,
are today establishing so-called cultural networks to pursue the same goal.
In a meeting with the director of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting
(IRIB) and a number of film-makers, film directors, screenwriters, actors
and actresses and all those involved in making of television series and
film-making, the Leader regarded the status of national media especially
the section of theatrical arts, films, and TV series as more important
than any other periods, and added that the major gap between the current
situation and an ideal situation can be bridged by using hardware and
software means, including the Iranian attractive culture and history.
The Leader of Islamic Revolution termed the Iranian nation's
steadfastness against the Global Arrogance as the root cause of major
powers' open and explicit enmity against this nation and added that the
current period is an exceptional one politically-speaking, and the great
Iranian nation will undoubtedly put behind the current difficult times,
and in everything we do, including film-making, theatre and drama, we must
reflect the reality of the times in which we live in – that is the open
hostility of the bullying powers towards the Iranian nation, and each one
us must play our role in countering this hostility.
Referring to the ancient history of this land, the Leader termed the
Iranian people as an honest and pure nation and by reminding the continued
efforts of foreign networks for breaking the privacy of hijab and chastity
and destroying the foundation of family in Iran, added that Those who
claim to be the friends of the Iranian nation, have proven their malice
and hostility towards Iran's glorious history and culture, by producing
anti-Iranian cinematic films and anti-Iranian television programmes, and
in such situation, every theatrical political work should be carried out
with full awareness so that it won't be in line with enemy's goals.
In explaining about the expectation of the system's leadership from the
artists' community, especially those involved in films and TV series,
Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that if you in your works depict the Iranian
nation's historical steadfastness, with awareness, you will become a hero
of a real story and your work will be certainly more attractive, and this
is an issue which is expected more form the artists' community especially
those active in IRIB.
The Leader of Islamic Revolution also appreciated the valuable efforts
of capable artists and those involved in film-making, and added that
behind every moment of such valuable works, there are a lot of endeavors,
innovation and creativity and we should value them.
