Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei (3rd L)
receives President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his counterparts from Iraq,
Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says the
Iranian New Year, Nowruz, is a fitting occasion to bring regional nations
and governments closer together.
"This (Nowruz) event and its continuity can serve as an appropriate
ground for bringing governments and nations in the region closer together,"
said Ayatollah Khamenei in a meeting with regional leaders and
representatives taking part in the first International Nowruz Celebrations
in Tehran on Saturday.
The leader emphasized that the global recognition of Nowruz can in fact
serve as sort of a "cultural gift and conveyance from nations that mark
Nowruz to other nations, particularly the West."
Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated that at a time "when, unfortunately, the
cultural current remains from West to East," the international recognition
of Nowruz provides the opportunity to "transfer and export the high values
of eastern culture to Western nations. "
The UN General Assembly recognized March 21st as the International Day
of Nowruz earlier in February, calling on world countries to draw on the
holiday's rich history to promote peace and goodwill.
The Leader also touched upon the efforts by certain world powers to
cause crisis among regional nations and added, "The fact is that the
Interests of regional nations are not in contradiction but indeed
complement each other."
He said that regional nations can establish a high value cultural
complex, adding, "The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes bolstering
relations and cooperation among regional and neighboring countries which
subscribe to a common culture."
He added that Iran honors the progress of every neighboring country.
Ayatollah Khamenei said Nowruz is a leading spiritual, national and
international occasion and a symbol of innovation, freshness and
consolidation of friendship and kindness between friends and relatives.
Nowruz, meaning “a new day,” is an ancient Iranian tradition that has
been celebrated around the globe for nearly three millenniums. It honors
the first day of spring as a new year and a brand new beginning on a merry,
peaceful note. It is celebrated on the day of the vernal equinox, which
normally lands on March 21.

hypocrisy in US approach

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said
Sunday the actions of the United States run counter to its call for
establishing amicable relations with Iran.
"The new [US] administration and president claimed interest in just and
fair relations; they wrote letters and sent messages ... saying they are
willing to normalize relations with the Islamic Republic, but in practice
they did the opposite," the Leader said in a Nowruz address to Iranians in
the holy city of Mashhad.
The remarks came after the US president repeated his symbolic offer of
dialogue with Tehran, without specifying what concessions Washington is
actually prepared to make.
"We are working with the international community to hold the Iranian
government accountable because they refuse to live up to their
international obligations," said President Barack Obama in a Nowruz
message released Saturday. "But our offer of comprehensive diplomatic
contacts and dialogue stands."
Ayatollah Khamenei lashed out at the US president for supporting the
unrest erupted after last year's June presidential election, saying the
enemies had plans to start a "civil war" in the country.
"They tried very much to divide the people but they failed … this was a
victory for the nation," he said. "Eight months after the elections, they
took the worst possible stance. The [US] president called those rioters
and saboteurs 'civil rights activists'."
"Sometimes the US government appears as a wolf or a fox and looks
violent and arrogant, and sometimes they look different," the Leader added.
The Leader said it was normal for Iran to have enemies as it is
supported by the nations around the world. Washington, on the other hand,
he said, is hated by the nations around the world for decades of
aggression and invasion against sixty countries.

Leader congratulates nation
on Nowruz
Sat, 20 Mar 2010 17:59:09 GMT
In the name of God
O the transformer of hearts and sights…
O the planner of night and day…
O the transformer of our being…
Transform our being into the very best…
I congratulate all Iranians living in our vast and dear country on
Nowruz and the beginning of the year, the first day of spring and the
rebirth of nature. I also congratulate all Iranians living in other parts
of the world, those who have great hopes for their country.
I would especially like to congratulate the youth, men and women, who
have made great sacrifices for the high goals of the revolution and the
country; those who have dedicated their lives and their youth for the
revolution and the prosperity of our country; the honorable families of
the martyrs, war-disabled veterans and their families and all those who
work for the prosperity of the country.
And I would like to pay tribute to our great Imam Khomeini, the founder
of this massive movement of people, the one who started the development of
the great Islamic Republic of Iran.
Nowruz is the beginning of growth, this growth, as felt in the nature,
can take shape in our hearts and mind in our movement towards development.
Let's take a look back at the year 1388 which is coming to an end, if
we want to describe the year 1388 in one sentence, I think it would be the
year of the Iranian nation, the year of victory for this great nation, the
year of historic and effective participation of this nation in spheres
linked to the destiny of our great Revolution and great country.
In the early months of the year 1388, people, with their unprecedented
participation, organized an election which was unprecedented in the
history of our Revolution and in our country's long history; an
outstanding point of our history.
During the following months, again, people in a big test and in a big
and historic movement demonstrated their participation, determination,
perseverance, national resolve and their wisdom.
As a brief interpretation of the events in the months following the
elections, I can say the enemies of the country and the enemies of the
Islamic Republic concentrated all their efforts and power on defeating
this Revolution from within itself.
Our nation stood against this fiendish plot and vicious act and brought
the enemy to his knees with outstanding wisdom, perseverance and resolve.
What happened during the eight months after the election until the 22nd
of Bahman (Feb. 11) has been an experience full of lessons and warnings
and has actually been a begining for the Iranian nation.
The nation acted brilliantly in the year 1388, and the officials also
made great and admirable efforts, these efforts were considerable and
deserve admiration; it is the duty of all impartial observers to
appreciate these efforts and work done for the sake of the country's
prosperity and development in different spheres. Officials have made great
achievements in scientific and industrial spheres, in social affairs and
foreign policy. May God reward them all and grant them the opportunity to
make further achievements.
What my observation of the current status of the country and the huge
capacity of this great nation and country tell me is that what we have
done, what the officials and people have done is not much given the huge
capacity of the country for development.
We are obliged to struggle more and make more efforts, much more than
before.
This part of the prayer we recite in the year's transition is
interesting when we say "transform our being to the very best." It does
not say "make us feel better or bring us better days," it calls for the
best happenings, best days and best situation.
This is the high aspiration of a Muslim; he wants to reach the best in
all spheres.
This year we need to multiply our efforts to achieve what this prayer
has taught us in accordance with the country's necessities and capacity.
We need to increase the level our work.
I have named this year as "redoubled diligence and redoubled work,"
hoping that all officials along with people with higher aspiration and
intensified work can take higher steps and move closer toward our high
goals in different fields including the economic, cultural, political,
civil and social fields.
We need this redoubled diligence; our country needs this redoubled work.
We need to trust God, seek God's help, we should know the ground has been
prepared for more work.
Our enemies target our nation's knowledge and devotion, we should
intensify our knowledge and devotion, with God's help the roads will be
paved, barriers will be removed, and God's help and victory will assist
our nation and authorities.

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei on Tuesday
highlighted the huge cultural and Islamic commonalities of D8 member
states and said cooperation between the 8 Muslim countries can be a model
for the world of Islam.
Ayatollah Khamenei was addressing the participants of the first D8
Industrial Ministers Summit in Tehran.
The IR Leader in his remarks highlighted the cultural and Islamic
commonalities of D8 member states including their important geo-politic
position in Asia and Africa, and their one billion population and energy
resources.
The IR Leader said cooperation between the member countries can be a
model for all Muslim countries and the continuation of industrial
cooperation would certainly have positive effects on the Islamic world,
including the 8 countries.
Referring to Iran’s support for cooperation between Islamic countries
since the beginning of D8 establishment, Ayatollah Khamenei said Islamic
Repu blic of Iran is ready to present its scientific and industrial
achievements to Muslim countries.
Pointing to the application of science and industry by hegemonic
countries in gaining dominance over other countries, the IR Leader said
the Muslim world should promote Islamic countries to their deserving
position by employing their great human and natural resources, outstanding
talents and cooperation with each other.
Ayatollah Khamenei underlined the necessity of implementing agreements
reached in Tehran Summit and urged D8 Group members to increase their
cooperation and make impressive strides in industrial progress.

Meeting with head of
Islamic Culture and Communications Organizationas well as IRI cultural
representatives
(2010/03/02)
slamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei in a meeting
with head of Islamic Culture and Communications Organization as well as
IRI cultural representatives abroad said Tuesday the real might of the
country was in culture, adding that the cultural ambassadors were duty
bound to help present a correct image of the IRI's Islamic system
realities, reflect the advances of current Iran and promote the Persian
language and literature.
Referring to the position and importance of cultural activities and
communications, Ayatollah Khamenei added: "If a cultural work is done
correctly so that it affects people's thought and emotions, definitely
some possible vacuums in the foreign diplomacy of the country or
commercial and economic communications would be filled."
The Islamic Revolution Leader pointed to the methods of colonizer
countries in reaching their incorrect and unjust goals through cultural
relations and influence, sayi ng: "These countries pursue their inhuman
goals with cultural moves, while in the Islamic system which is originated
from genuine divine thoughts, cultural methods and tools should be used
more appropriately."
Explaining the heavy duties of cultural ambassadors, the IR Leader
added: "Presenting a correct image of the Revolution and the system of
Islamic Republic to the world's people and the officials is one of the
important duties of cultural ambassadors."
Referring to the broad propaganda efforts of the arrogance in
presenting a marred image from the Islamic system, Ayatollah Khamenei said:
"By presenting a marred image of the system of Islamic Republic, they
intend to make the world's people and those interested in this system
pessimistic and reduce the spiritual effect of the Islamic Revolution."
The IR Leader said the job of presenting a correct image from the
Islamic system requires a correct definition of Islam. "Ill-wishers and
bullies try to present an Islam to the world's people that is either a
petrified Islam or a useless liberal Islam, while the real and genuine
Islam has lofty, deep and clear concepts of human being, God, the future
world and the humanity's material and spiritual needs."
Ayatollah Khamenei said another duty of the representatives was to
introduce the remarkable scientific progresses and the literature and art
of the country.
The Leader also urged the representatives to present the democratic
manifestations of the country, adding religious manifestations are among
the significant realities in this regard.
"The spiritual and amorous presence of different layers of people
especially the youth in religious ceremonies including Quran and prayer
recitation and mourning gatherings is a great event in the country that
should be showed to the world's people through art and documentation,"
Ayatollah Khamenei urged.
The IR Leader also highlighted the issue of Persian language and liter
ature and urged the cultural ambassadors to promote the Persian language
through promotion of boards of Persian language in scientific and academic
centers."
