Islamic
Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei in a meeting with Turkish
Premier Recep Tayyib Erdogan and his accompanying delegation Wednesday
lauded the existing deep historical bonds between the two nations of Iran
and Turkey, adding that the present cordial ties between the two countries
have been unprecedented in the recent few centuries.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the IRI was pleased with the back to back
religious and diplomatic achievements of the Turkish nation in internal
and international arenas.
The IR Leader said the foreign policy of Turkey regarding the world of
Islam was fully appropriate and appreciated the policy, saying that
Turkey's stance in supporting the Palestinian people was a correct Islamic
and rational move and that such moves would bolster the position of Turkey
in the world of Islam.
Ayatollah Khamenei added that the proximity of the Turkish government
to the world of Islam would enhance its populari ty inside Turkey, at the
same time it would attract the support of world Muslims.
Ayatollah Khamenei expressed the pleasure of Islamic Republic of Iran
over the country's international policies and politico-economic approach,
adding that the IRI would welcome any move which would bolster the
position of the world of Islam and that for the same reason the mutual
relations between the two countries are at their best levels ever since
the Islamic Republic was established.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the potentials for IRI-Turkey relations were
several times its current levels, adding that the seriousness and velocity
of both the Premier and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was a precious
opportunity for expansion of relations between the two countries.
In another part of his talk, Ayatollah Khamenei touched on the Middle
East's situation and said a Western recipe for the regional issues was
neither fair nor effective so that it would fail to resolve regional
problems including in Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan.
"Iran and Turkey then must embark on removing the problems in a
friendly and brotherly manner," Ayatollah Khamenei urged Erdogan.
Pointing to US weaknesses and failures in Iraq and Afghanistan,
Ayatollah Khamenei said: "We are assured that there are no differences
between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Turkey over the Iraqi issues as
the two sides are seeking stability, independence, security and unity for
Iraq."
Ayatollah Khamenei noted that stability and independence of Iraq was
not in the interest of those who have currently held a grip on Iraq and
that contrary to their slogans, they never seek democracy in the country.
Ayatollah Khamenei underlined necessity of precise and premeditated
cooperation between the four countries of Iran, Turkey, Syria and Iraq,
adding that there are however adversaries to such cooperation.
Ayatollah Khamenei then highlighted the establishment of the group of
eight Islamic countries calle d D8 as a sophisticated move, urging the
group to follow up economic, cultural and diplomatic plans more actively
than ever.
Premier Erdogan for his part thanked IRI for its hospitality, adding
that so far he had held very cordial meetings with Iranian authorities in
which the Turkish side could raise and negotiate all issues of interest.
Erdogan then pointed to a meeting of 400 Turkish and Iranian traders,
adding that Turkey would make efforts in expanding ties with the Islamic
Republic of Iran as well as in adopting a common stance with the country
regarding regional and international issues.
Meanwhile, the meeting was also attended by First Vice President
Mohammad-Reza Rahimi

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says
terrorist attacks in Muslim countries like Iran, Iraq and Pakistan are
carried out by foreign agents.
"Bloody measures in some Muslim countries such as Iraq and Pakistan and
certain parts of Iran are aimed at creating discord and difference among
Shia and Sunni Muslims," said Ayatollah Khamenei in a meeting with Iranian
officials in charge of organizing Hajj ceremonies on Monday.
"This is why Muslims should pay great attention to the issue of their
unity," added the Leader.
"Perpetrators of terrorist and bloody moves are directly or indirectly
linked to foreign agents," the Leader said.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Hajj pilgrims cannot remain
indifferent to events happening in the Muslim world particularly in Iraq,
Afghanistan, Palestine and parts of Pakistan.
"During Hajj ceremonies, [the pilgrims] should be sensitive about moves
against the Islamic unity or efforts which aim to offense the flag of the
Muslim world which has been hoisted in Iran," added the Leader.
The Leader's remarks came after at least 41 people, including seven
senior commanders of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), were
killed in a bombing on October 18 during a unity gathering of Shia and
Sunni tribal leaders in the town of Pishin on the Iran-Pakistan border.
The Pakistan-based Jundallah, a closely affiliated with the notorious
al-Qaeda organization, accepted responsibility for the deadly attack.
The Jundallah terrorist group, led by Abdolmalek Rigi, has staged a
torrent of terrorist attacks in Iran.
In a recent interview with Press TV, Rigi's brother, Abdulhamid,
confirmed that the Jundallah leader had established links with US agents.
Abdulhamid said that at just one of his meetings with the US
operatives, Rigi had received $100,000 to foment sectarian strife in Iran.
Meanwhile, synchronized car bombings in Baghdad on Sunday killed more
than 160 people and injured over 700 others.
The bombings, detonated within a minute of each other, also damaged the
Justice Ministry and Provincial Council complexes.
Supreme Leader: Islamic
Unity an Urgent Need
(26/10/2009) Ayatollah Khamenei the Supreme Leader of the Islamic
Revolution met this morning with the executive and cultural officials in
charge of hajj affairs. His Eminence said that promoting Islamic unity is
one of the most urgent needs in the present conditions, further stressing:
"Hajj must be the manifestation of the Islamic Ummah's strong
determination in the face of all divisive measures aimed at the unity and
progress of the Islamic world."
The Supreme Leader described hajj as a great and precious opportunity
and added: "The pilgrims must take care not to let this precious
opportunity be wasted on worthless worldly things."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that establishing a relationship with the great
world of Islam is another advantage of hajj. "Through their Islamic
behavior, Iranian pilgrims can introduce the kind of Islam promoted by the
Islamic Republic to the pilgrims from other countries."
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that being present in
the congregational prayers held in Masjid al-Nabawi and Masjid al-Haram is
an example of Islamic behavior and Quranic education. He reiterated: "Our
magnanimous Imam, who was a knowledgeable and vigilant person, used to
constantly advise all hajj pilgrims to attend congregational prayers
because this presence is one of the practical manifestations of unity."
Further stressing Islamic unity, Ayatollah Khamenei added: "The bloody
acts in some Islamic countries - especially in Iraq, Pakistan, and certain
parts of Iran - are being pursued with the aim of fomenting discord among
Shia and Sunni Muslims. Therefore, a lot of attention has to be focused on
the issue of Muslim unity." He added that those who carry out terrorist
attacks in Muslim countries are "directly or indirectly" linked with
foreign agents.
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution added: "The pilgrims of
the Ka'bah cannot be indifferent to what is happening in Iraq,
Afghanistan, Palestine, and some parts of Pakistan."
"During hajj, pilgrims should be sensitive to the measures aimed at
undermining Islamic unity or the flag of Islam, which is raised in Iran."
Ayatollah Khamenei further expressed his dissatisfaction with the way
Shia Muslims are treated in Maqbarat Al-Baqi', Masjid al-Haram, and Masjid
al-Nabawi and said: "Such acts are against the unity of Muslims and
contribute to the goals and wishes of the US and foreign intelligence
services. And the Saudi government should fulfill its duty in confronting
these acts."
Addressing the officials in charge of Hajj affairs, Ayatollah Khamenei
said: "Cultural, political, and managerial planning for the hajj caravans
should be in line with the requirements of the time."
