Leader Urges Solidarity, Brotherly Cooperation to Improve Iran

25.7.2009

TEHRAN (FNA)- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei underlined the necessity for the Iranians to maintain solidarity, and asked all people to cooperate with each other to improve the country in a brotherly atmosphere.

Addressing participants in the 26th round of International Quran Contest here in Tehran on Saturday, Ayatollah Khamenei stressed solidarity and unity among the Iranian people, and mentioned that solidarity means unity and consensus on principles despite different views on the details.

"This (different views) is not at all an obstacle to unity," he added.

"In the Islamic Republic all people should stand by each other despite their different tastes while announcing their loyalty to the principles," the Supreme Leader reiterated.

He also reminded enemy efforts to hit and impair Islamic unity and sow discord among the Islamic Ummah, and said, "The enemies of Islam deceptively say that they are not opposed to Quran but they protest at what is the axis of Quranic teachings."

In Iran, Leader wants political voices to reflect caution

Mon, 20 Jul 2009 13:34:07 GMT - Press TV

Days after renewed street protests in Tehran, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution requests the Iranian political elite to exercise caution when commenting on the country's political situation.

"Everyone should proceed with extreme vigilance with respect to their stance, both in what they say and what they do not say," Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei warned in a Monday meeting with state officials, broadcast by state television.

Addressing the recent political turmoil in Iran, the Leader went on to label the political situation in the country as a major challenge presented to political figures, while calling on the ruling elite to avoid any measures that could play into the hands of those deemed as enemies of the nation.

"The political elite should maintain great vigilance because they currently face a significant challenge; their failure to rise to this challenge will lead to their collapse," cautioned Ayatollah Khamenei.

The Leader cited rationalism as the sole solution to the existing political tensions in Iran and described the much-needed logic as drastically different from "the common political games" played in the country.

The remarks come several days after renewed protests emerged on Friday when influential cleric and politician Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani led prayers attended by hundreds of thousands of people at Tehran University.

During his sermon, Hashemi-Rafsanjani criticized authorities for their handling of the country's presidential election and the post-vote unrest.

Following the Friday address, opposition supporters present at the venue of the prayers took to the streets of Tehran and chanted slogans against the emergence of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as the official victor of the July 12 elections.

Clashes erupted outside the Tehran University campus as security forces reacted by using tear gas to disperse the protesters.

"If the nation feels that in the remarks made by certain officials there lies an issue of enmity with the Islamic system and certain hands are at work to help a movement that seeks to deliver a blow to the establishment, they [the nation] will distance themselves [from those officials], even if such officials pursue a slogan that has arisen from the nation," said the Leader.

Vigilance Pays

Iran Daily 7.7.2009

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Monday said that the need of the hour in the Muslim world, especially in Iran, is unity and vigilance of the people against the enemies trying to sow discord.

He warned the leaders of western governments about their blatant interference in the recent unrest in the country and recalled that the June 12 presidential elections showed that after 30 years the Islamic Revolution is still capable of mobilizing large numbers of people.

“The enemies wanted to create a rift among the masses. They managed to do so to some extent, but the nation should thwart this plot,“ he told a public meeting on the auspicious birth anniversary of Imam Ali (AS), leader.ir reported.

The Islamic system’s known policy is that rivalry of presidential candidates is a rivalry in one family, he stressed.

“It is possible that at times this rivalry is coupled with anger and fury, but this does not concern foreigners,“ he said.

“Some western leadersÉ clearly interfered in the internal affairs of the country which is none of their business and later said that they do not interfere in Iran’s internal affairs. This is while they encouraged the people to create a tumult and introduced our people as insurgents and rebels. Rebels are those few people who are funded by some western states.

It is natural that some people feel frustrated that their candidate of choice did not win in the election. But, this does not mean sabotage. On the basis of the outcome of the vote there is a majority and minority in the country and there are the relevant laws. Labeling the people of Iran as rebels in sections of the US and European media under Zionist influence is an insult to the nation,“ he concluded.

Islamic world is in dire need of unity

7/6/2009 5:59:12 PM IRIB

Addressing thousands of people on the occasion of the Birthday anniversary of the First Shii Imam, Hazrat Ali Ibn Abi Talib (AS), the Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei highlighted the efforts made by Imam Ali (AS) to establish justice and maintain unity of the Islamic community and said that the Islamic world especially the Iranian nation are in dire need of unity and vigilance against the enemies' plots.

Ayatollah Khamenei warned rulers of some western countries over the response of the Iranian nation and government against their blatant interferences in Iran and said we should thank God for such a great presence of the Iranian nation in the presidential elections through unity, vigilance, kindness, maintaining the revolutionary approach among people and elites and not mistaking enemies for friends.

Pointing to the high turn-out of the Iranian nation in the presidential elections, the IR Leader said it proved that the Islamic Revolution after 30 year, enjoying high capacity, is able to persuade the people to be present at the scene. However the enemies plotted to make discord among the people and they could reach some of their goals but the nation should foil the plot.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Islamic system terms the election campaign as a move inside the family of the Islamic Revolution adding these competitions may sometimes lead to anger but the issue is not the aliens' business.

"Some rulers of the western countries made blatant interference in IRI's affairs at the level of their president, prime minister and foreign minister and later said that they do not meddle in the filed but we saw they persuade riots and named the Iranian people rioters," the IR Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the rioters are those who use the money of some western countries to make hue and cry adding that when a certain candidate is not elected, it is natural. The American and Zionist media introduce Iranian nation as rioters and this is an insult to them.

The IR Leader severely warned western countries to be alert about their statements and hostile behaviors because the Iranian nation would react in this regard.

"We will assess their statements and interfering behaviors and surely the Western stance will have a negative impact in future relations," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

"If the IRI's officials have some differences but they are united in resisting against enemies and the enemies would not be able to make differences among the nation," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that even if there were different tastes in the country still all the relevant parties would get united against foreign interference and accordingly reply with a united punch.

Pointing to the Iranian nations' memory of the aliens' plots during the past 30 years, Ayatollah Khamenei said," Do not suppose that if you support a party or person they would accept you because false claims of you are clear to the Iranian nation. You seek to make a gap between people and the elites."

He reiterated that some arrogant powers seek destruction of the Islamic system. The western countries' support to some people and their opposition to some others are mere cheat because these powers name those who interested in the Islamic system, the constitution and the nation's values as enemy.

The IR Leader advised these powers to take lesson from their defeat against the Iranian nation in the past 30 years and if they continue the past approach, it would be in vain.

Ayatollah Khamenei referred to some agents of the arrogant powers' media inside the country and said that the enemies will use these agents as long as they are at service of them.

"Their main aim is eradication of the Islamic system and therefore everybody should be careful not to regard by mistake a friend as enemy and vice-versa," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

The IR Leader underlined that a vigilant nation would eradicate all seditions and by God's grace all seditions of the enemies were ended.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the main points of the presidential elections were high turn-out of nearly 40 million people, showing their confidence in the Islamic system after 30 years and election of a president with over 24 million votes.

He advised the officials and people to appreciate this divine blessing and said that the officials and the president-elect should do their best to serve people, bring progress to the country and maintain unity of the great Iranian nation.

He called on the Iranian nation to keep unity, vigilance, kindness, maintaining the revolutionary approach which will bring the satisfaction of Hazrate Vali Asr (the Twelfth Imam).

In another part of his speech, the IR Leader lauded the high position of Imam Ali (AS) in the view of the Noblest Messenger of Allah, Hazrate Mohammad (PBUH) and said the life of Imam Ali (AS) is a complete model for Islamic education. He always sought truth to establish justice and unity in the Islamic community and even in some cases ignore his right for the sake of Islam.

Pointing to some plots to sow discord among Sunnis and shiis, Ayatollah Khamenei said the Islamic world today is in dire need of unity to achieve its great goals and if Muslims get united the enemies would not reach their goals.
