Seyyed Ali Khamenei in a meeting with the presidents of Afghanistan and
Pakistan on Sunday evening termed the trilateral meeting as a definite
need for the three neighboring countries. The Supreme Leader stressed that
we strongly support the trilateral agreements and that we are certain that
the agreements will be fruitful due to the three presidents' efforts and
honesty.
Referring to religious, cultural and historical commonalities as well
as the common enemies of the three countries, Ayatollah Khamenei added
that extremism has created many problems for the regional nations and
governments and it is also threatening others, particularly those who were
the main cause of creating such extremism with their money and policies.
The Supreme Leader termed military intervention as one of the main
problems in the region, stating that the United States as the cause of
these problems is strongly hated among the regional people.
Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that progress and security in Afghanistan
and Pakistan is of great importance for Iran, and while stressing the
continuation of such meetings in the future, added that cooperation is not
limited to security and political issues, but it is a good ground for
expanding economic and constructive cooperation between the three
countries.
At the meeting, Iran's President, Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad also referred
to the trilateral meeting saying that the viewpoints of the three
countries and ways of their implementation were brought up and studied
very clearly.
President Ahmadinejad said that extremism, foreign military
intervention, smuggling of illicit drugs and terrorism are major threats
posed to the regional nations, adding that a 25-article statement was
prepared and approved at the end of the trilateral meeting.
Meanwhile, Pakistani President, Asef Ali Zardari for his part referred
to his previous meeting with Ayatollah Khamenei, saying his guidelines in
that meeting opened a new chapter in Tehran-Islamabad relations and
expressed hope for overcoming the existing challenges faced by the three
countries through cooperation.
The Afghan President, Hamid Karzai for his part said that today's
meeting was an excellent opportunity for the three neighboring countries
for reaching new agreements and common goals.

bloody terrorist attack in the southeastern Iranian city of Zahedan. The
message refers to plots and conspiracies by 'interventionist powers', and
their intelligence and spying agencies, which are trying to fuel tensions,
sedition, and fratricide among Muslim communities. The message warns all
Iranian people to be vigilant and aware of the enemies' plots, and calls
on officials to be on their guard, be aware of enemy plots, and maintain
Islamic and national unity.
Excerpts from the message by the Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution,
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, are as follows:
The bloody terrorist incident in Zahedan which led to the martyrdom and
injury of a number of worshippers and followers of the Holy Prophet's
Household (Peace be upon them) caused me great sadness, heartache and
dismay. Murdering faithful and innocent individuals who had gathered in
the House of God to worship and supplicate, followers of the Holy
Prophet's Household (Peace be upon them), is an enormous crime, whose
perpetrators, their accomplices and facilitators God Almighty will not
forgive easily. Those who have committed this terrorist crime, although
they may be ignorant, misguided or angry, they have committed a big crime,
and there is no doubt that those who have aided and abetted this crime,
providing support for the terrorists, such as some 'interventionist powers',
and their intelligence and spying agencies, are stained with the blood of
the innocent victims of this bloody terror attack.
In his message the Supreme Leader said one of the persistent aims of
the enemies of Iran has always been to stoke tensions, sedition, and
fratricide among Muslim communities in this region, and in Iran in
particular. He said it is only through vigilance that these plots can be
foiled.
Elsewhere in the message the Supreme Leader stressed that security and
political officials must be fully alert and vigilant, and do everything to
protect the security of all Muslim peoples, and bring to justice all those
responsible for this terrorist outrage.
In the end of his message, the Supreme Leader expressed his condolences
to all the families of the victims who had lost their loved ones, wishing
divine exultation for the martyrs of this terrorist attack, and a speedy
recovery, for all those who had been injured.

TEHRAN (FNA)- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed
Ali Khamenei on Tuesday lashed out at enemy efforts to sow discord between
the Islamic Republic of Iran and other Muslim countries.
"Vigilance of the (Iranian) nation, including the Kurds, has defused
this plot in the country, and although this trap proved efficient with
regard to some Muslim governments affiliated to the world arrogance,
nations, thinkers, intellectuals and scholars of the Muslim world call
Iran as the honor and glory of the Muslim Ummah (community) and this
reality has made the bullying powers paralyzed, perplexed and frustrated,"
Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated addressing a large gathering of the local
residents on the eighth and last day of his tour of the western Kurdistan
province.
The supreme Leader also called on all Iranians to be on the alert
against enemies' plots to sow discord between Shiites and Sunnites, and
warned that any blasphemy and insult to the Shiites or Sunnites'
sanctuaries and beliefs is a violation of the Islamic Republic's red line.
"No one has the right to trespass this red line because of negligence
or prejudice, since anyone who steps over this line will, knowingly or
unknowingly, turn into a tool in the hands of the enemies," he cautioned.
He referred to the United States' organized plots in the western
borders of Iran and its information, financial and military backup for the
terrorists, and urged the entire nation, specially the Kurdish population,
to maintain and enhance vigilance.
"The United States is promoting terrorism behind Iran's western borders...
the US administration directly finances operations and organizes terrorist
movements to undermine the Islamic Republic," the Leader said on the 8th
day of his tour of Iran's western province of Kurdistan.
"We have information that Americans have evil plans for Kurdistan...
They're not planning to defend the rights of the Kurdish people but their
aim is to dominate the Kurds and sow seeds of discord among them,"
Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated.

Addressing an enthusiastic gathering of the aware and wise university
students of the Kurdistan province, the Islamic Revolution Leader
Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei elaborated on the true pattern of
development and called on thinkers, elites and university students to
study, search and draw a national and native pattern for development of
the country.
Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that in the fourth decade of the
Revolution, development and justice should be turned into a national
discourse upon which a national pattern would be implemented. So we could
take big steps at the end of this decade.
The IR Leader noted that the true meaning of development is different
from what is called progress in the west and said that they may have some
common points which should be considered.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that dividing the countries into advanced,
progressive and non-developed ones is a western trick adding that in this
pattern the real meaning of development has accompanied with the western
values. In this pattern an advanced country is merely a western country
but we completely reject this conception.
The IR Leader said that historical, political, human, cultural and
geographical conditions determine the development pattern of every country
adding that regarding many differences in the conditions of the countries,
it is impossible to offer a single pattern for all countries.
Ayatollah Khamenei noted that regarding our special culture and history,
we can not follow the patterns of America, western Europe or northern
America but it is necessary to draw a native pattern. The main duty in
this regard is upon thinkers and university students.
Pointing to some advantages of the western development pattern, the IR
Leader underlined that we follow our native pattern but we should not
ignore some advantages of the western pattern including innovation, risk
taking, discipline and braveness for action.
Touching on link between development and justice, Ayatollah Khamenei
said that in western patterns, growth of gross national income (GNI) is
among important criteria but if it increases in a country under injustice,
the real development has not created.
The IR Leader noted that according to the Islamic view, human has two
material and spiritual dimensions. The two dimensions are needed for
offering the true development pattern, so the pattern which is based on
the material view is completely different form the true development
pattern.
Ayatollah Khamenei urged the students to avoid dependence on the
political powers as the first condition for development and preserving the
true development pattern.
The IR Leader rejected the way of some countries which have made some
progress but follow approach of big power and said that following America
and others is not sign of development and has no value because over the
issue of national development, the independence of the country is the main
priority.
Ayatollah Khamenei rejected the meaning of globalization as turning
into some tolls in hand of western capitalism and added that the countries
should keep their independence in this regard.
The IR Leader termed producing science as another prerequisite for the
true development pattern and said that we should make balance between
scientific exports and imports like economic issues.
Ayatollah Khamenei lauded the scientific achievements within three past
decades and expressed his pleasure over the issue of producing science at
universities.
The IR Leader urged for speeding up the scientific movement in all
fields as well as theorization in different fields including in the human
sciences so that we could add to the human knowledge.
Ayatollah Khamenei advised the university students to make efforts to
confront with colonial power centers as another prerequisite for
development and said that without touching on new scientific fields, no
progress would be achieved.
The IR Leader also slammed silence of the global arrogance and
international organizations such as the United Nations on the crimes and
atrocities of the Zionist regime during the 22-day war in Gaza, IRI’s
legitimate rights to make use of nuclear technology for peaceful purposes
and mass killing of innocent civilians by the American troops in some
neighboring states.
"World nations should learn lessons from the Iranian nation which
strongly condemned the crimes and atrocities of the American and Zionists
in international for a but unfortunately some people in the country feel
shame over the nation's stances like some people who felt shame for saying
prayers in public during the Pahlavi era," Ayatollah Khamenei added.
"IRI’s explicit stand on global developments is a source of pride for
this generation," the IR Leader said.
Ayatollah Khamenei also advised the university students to do their
utmost to bring more scientific success and development for the country.
The IR Leader reiterated that firm and clear stances of the Iranian
nation over the global developments should be put forward with proud to
make the world people become more aware of the glory of the nation and the
Islamic system.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the university students of the Kurdistan
province like other regions of the country endeavor for progress of the
country.
"I am sure that the university students of the region would bring a
bright and more progressive future to the country,"
the IR Leader said.
Ayatollah Khamenei also ordered the Health and Science Ministers to
pursue the suggestions of the Kordestan province's professors and the
university students.
The IR Leader urged for more connection and meeting between officials
and the university students to find more ways for development of the
country through such meetings.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the enemy did his utmost efforts to make
the Kords separate from other races but the enthusiastic gathering of Kord
people in Sannandaj and Marivan proved that all races of the country are
united and follow the Islamic and national causes of the country.

country and said the Iranian races including Fars, Turk, Lor, Balouch,
Arab and Turkmen can play their role for development of the country and
become source of blesses for the country
Tehran, May 17, IRNA – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Sunday called on the country’s intellectuals and
university students to draw up a national model for the country’s
development based on domestic potentials.
The Supreme Leader made the remark in a meeting with enthusiastic
university students and professors of Kordestan universities on Sunday.
The real meaning of development differs from its broadly used
definition in the West, said Ayatollah Khamenei, adding that there might
be some commonalties between the two but intellectuals and cultural
officials should take into consideration cultural differences to this end.
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to historical,
geographical, political, and cultural characteristics of every society
which are crucial in drawing up a yardstick to this effect.
“It is our duty to find out the suitable model for development based on
our domestic tastes and specifications,” underlined Ayatollah Khamenei.
Every nation should pay due attention to its philosophical and ethical
points of view in drawing up its desired model of development, pointed out
the Supreme Leader
There is a deep relationship between justice and development which
should be taken into account while drawing up such a plan , said Ayatollah
Khamenei.
Wide gaps between various classes of societies have roots in injustice
and run counters to the real concept of development, said the Supreme
Leader.
Members of the Islamic society should pay attention to their material
and spiritual life, said Ayatollah Khamenei.
Toeing the line of the US or others is not a sign of development and is
worthless, said the Supreme Leader, adding "In our model the issue of
independence should be given top priority."
"Real development should guarantee our political and economic
independence," underlined Ayatollah Khamenei.
Science production is among real necessities of a sound and correct
development, said the Supreme Leader.
University students should step up their efforts to remove existing
shortcomings in the field of science production in line with global
developments, said Ayatollah Khamenei.

Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the weakness of management methods in
western countries as a main reason of the West's capitalist system's
failure to encounter economic crises and reiterated that any dependence on
the outsiders' instructions is contrary to the country's national
interests and may damage its independence, dignity and prosperity.
Recalling the chemical attacks and other crimes unleashed by Saddam in
the course of the Iraqi imposed war on Iran, he termed the bitter events
during eight years of sacred defense in Iran's western borders, including
Kurdistan, as big tests that proved the deceptive and false claims by
Saddam's supporters and the so-called advocates of human rights.

swiftly in a way that all the approved plans will be fully materialized
and the faithful and friendly people of the province see the improvements
in practice within a rational timeframe.
Considering the outstanding talents among Kurdish youths as a source of
progress in the province, the Leader underlined the government's due
efforts and support to promote the status of the elites in the province.
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution also lauded the brave and

On the fifth day of his visit to Kurdistan province, the Islamic
Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei regarded national dignity
as a very effective factor in the brilliant future of the Iranian people.
Addressing a very enthusiastic gathering of the faithful, affectionate
and brave people of Marivan, the IR Leader stressed: "The glorious future
belongs to the youths and it has to be be fulfilled by relying on Islamic,
national and indigenous recipes and avoiding alien recipes."
In this gathering that was organized in Marivan's Zagros stadium,
Ayatollah Khamenei regarded fighting the aliens that seek the nation's
humiliation and abjection as a prerequisite for national dignity and said:
"The enemies of this great land see no benefit for themselves in the
progress and glory of Islamic Iran; therefore, any dependence to
alien-written recipes is against national interests and would destroy the
country's independence, dignity and prosperity."
The IR Leader regarded the inability of the Western capitalism in
confronting economic crises as a clear reason for the weakness of
management methods in Western countries, adding: "The officials, the
people and especially the youth and thinkers should contemplate on this
reality."
He considered the pure Islam, namely the Islam of Qoran, Sunna and
Ahl-ul-Bait as the base and original recipe for the movement and progress
of the nation and system, stressing: "We do not call anyone to the
petrified and narrow-minded Islam, but the Islam that we regard as
treatment for pains and guarantee for the country's progress and glory is
an Islam that calls the human being to thinking and contemplation and is
able to create a historical and magnificent movement like the Islamic
Revolution."
Ayatollah Khamenei criticized those who in different times including in
election periods, repeat the Westerners' remarks to attract people's
attention, adding: "Such remarks are not considered as privilege. They are
opposition to the Islamic-Iranian thought and identity."
In another part of his speech, he termed Kordestan and Marivan as a
land full of glory, braveness and natural beauty, and full of the feeling
of affection and loyalty, saying: "I regard this area as one of the gifts
and blessings that God has granted to the country and the system."
Referring to his visit to Marivan and surrounding area in 1980 at the
peak of Baathist Saddam's attack on Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei said: "The
enemies of this nation's progress relying on hireling and dependent agents
wanted to create a deep valley of suspicion between the people of this
very important and sensitive area and the people of other parts of the
country, but the faithful, zealous and loyal Kords foiled this conspiracy
very well. The young generation of the country and the area should become
very well familiar with these instructive realities."
Reminding Saddam's war crimes including his chemical attacks, the IR
Leader regarded the bitter incidents of eight years of sacred defense in
western areas including Kordestan as a big laboratory for proving the
deception and insincerity of Saddam's supporters and the claimants of
human rights.
"The ups and downs of thirty years of the Iranian people's perseverance
and victory should be explained as instructive lessons for the youths, so
that the weight and real nature of today's propaganda of the arrogance
become clearer for them," he added.
Ayatollah Khamenei considered the admittance by the world's politicians
and policy-makers to the regional and global position of the Islamic
Republic of Iran as a sign for the stability and power of the country.
"The Islamic system, by God's help, is in a position that it can focus
on long-period projects of progress and prosperity," he stressed.
The IR Leader termed the 20-year prospect document as the guide,
director and real agenda for the officials of different forces and
organizations and said: "In order to achieve the goals of this very
credible and important document, both the officials and people bear great
responsibilities, and we should be cautious that the enemies of the
country's progress do not distract the minds to marginal issues."
Ayatollah Khamenei then noted that the province was in need of
industrial and agricultural investment, especially in light of the hazards
of joblessness in the area which among others include a tendency among the
youths for smuggling induced by poor job opportunities.
Ayatollah Khamenei then noted that security was a prerequisite for
investment and wealth production, adding that enemies would try to hinder
any investment in the area through creation of insecurity however the
powerful force of Islamic Republic with the help of valiant and loyal
youths of the province will take a tough line on any spawners of

The IR Leader then noted that the Kordestan visit was a bid to attract
public attention to the talented, green and scenic area and expand
affective ties among different Iranian ethnicities. He noted that Kord,
Fars, Tork, Lor, and Baluch form a unified body called the great Iranian
nation.

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei stressed the
need for accelerating pace of development in Kordestan province, west of
Iran.
Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks during a meeting with the
province's officials including governor and representatives in the
parliament Friday night.

Ayatollah Khamenei said by favor of God, a bright future is guaranteed
for the great Iranian nation by vigilance of people and authorities and
their collective efforts.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the throng of nomad personalities bears a
significant statement: the Iranian nation has achieved all its honors
through unity and vigilant movement, at the same time it will expand those
honors through the same track.
The IR Leader said the nomads of the Kordish area have a notable share

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei in a joint
military ceremony of armed forces in Kordestan province Wednesday said
that the IRI armed forces are supposed to ensure security and keep
tranquility of public life in the country, adding that the most important
factor to keep the dignity of Iranian nation is to preserve national
preparedness, especially military preparedness.
In the beginning of the ceremony, when the IR Leader arrived in the
field of Imam Ali (A.S.) barracks, IRI national anthem was played and then
the IR Leader paid respect to the innocent martyrs of the province.
The Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces then inspected an honor
guard from the exemplary units in the field.
Ayatollah Khamenei in the ceremony called Kordestan as the land of
sacrifice and martyrdom, adding that the Islamic System by relying on the
faith and dignity of the province's people shined in the first years of
the revolution in countering the enemy which was systematically trying to
create insecurity and fratricide in the region.
"The armed forces by defeating the big sedition fulfilled the goal they
were supposed to fulfil, that is to secure public tranquility," Ayatollah
Khamenei added.
The IR Leader appreciated the role of Kordestan people, especially
peshmargas in fighting against the alien plots, adding that these
realities will remain as memoirs of the great epic of the Iranian people
in the area.
Ayatollah Khamenei said Kordestan remained safe against all the threats
and plots due to the powerful and aware presence of armed forces. The IR
Leader urged for vigilance against the enemy deceit, adding that the
Islamic system by the order of the Koran must always keep vigilance and
preparedness against any plots because it has thrown the gauntlet at the
global oppression.
Ayatollah Khamenei noted that aliens wish to make the country insecure,
adding that an example was the role of their security services in guiding
blind terrorist operations in Iraq.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that any nation could genuinely defend its
dignity and entity provided it relies on God, trusts its people and has
independence, adding that the great Iranian nation and the powerful
Islamic system would never aggress any other country but at the same it

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei in a meeting
with religious scholars in Kordestan province Wednesday said the current
era was distinct form other eras owing to two major phenomena of
complicated methods of intellectual exchanges and the Islamic government
in Iran. He urged the scholars to utilize the two in fulfilling their
heavy responsibilities of promotion of justice and fight against
oppression and corruption.
In the meeting which was held in Sanandaj grand mosque, Ayatollah
Khamenei called religious scholars as forerunners of reforms and progress
of the nation, adding that the duties of the scholars besides promotion of
the statute was also to stand against those who have imposed themselves on
the nations as idols.
Elaborating on the special characteristics of the present time,
Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to the emergence of new methods and means of
exchange of ideas and thoughts, adding that the arrogance besides rattling
saber of intimidation is using all modern communication and cultural
facilities at hand to impose its false thoughts on the nations. Ayatollah
Khamenei noted that against the complicated onslaught, the scholars must
keep up to date with time.

innocent Palestinian people in the 33-day Gaza war in late 2008, suddenly
a destructive viral idea penetrated the society namely that 'Palestinians
are enemies of household of Hazrat Muhammad' in a bid to push the Islamic

arrived the city of Sanandaj, the capital of Kurdistan province this
morning where he was warmly welcomed by enthusiastic and zealous crowds.
Speaking in front of enthusiastic crowds of Kurdistan's brave and
zealous people, Ayatollah Khamenei stressed on the importance of the tenth
presidential elections and said: "What is important and is of premier
importance is the people's enthusiastic presence in the elections."
The IR Leader also advised the candidates of the presidential elections
to avoid giving unrealistic statistics and numbers which lead to the
disappointment of people.
In another part of his speech, the IR Leader referred to the unity and
compatibility among different parts of the society and said:" This
compatibility and unity should be appreciated."
Ayatollah Khamenei regarded preserving national unity as the main
element for progress and development.
Referring to the importance of people's awareness in front of seditious
agents, the IR Leader added: "He who makes sedition in front of people's
unity is the enemy's agent whether he knows or not."
Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to the pressures and threats of the world
arrogance against the Islamic system and stressed:" The Islamic system has
not retreated in front of the arrogance so far and will not do so
henceforth."
The IR Leader regarded national dignity as one of the divine gifts
which was bestowed to the Iranian people due to the Revolution and said: "The
great late Imam (Khomeini) is the symbol of national dignity."
Referring to the enemy's efforts to wage civil war in Iran, Ayatollah
Khamenei added: "The enemy will never sit calm, and regarding different
races as alien is the enemy's most important weapon in this regard."

the people of Iran take pride for being Iranian Muslims.
Ayatollah Khamenei said world powers have begun to admit that their
threats have failed to dent the firm resolve of the proud Iranian people
as well as the sacred, mighty system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He cautioned against plots of the enemies of the nation who are
scheming to sow seeds of sectarian discord, underscoring that persons, who
whether knowingly or unwittingly serve the propaganda of the enemies of
the nation, are in fact in the camp of the enemies of the nation and
Islam.
Emphasizing unity among Sunni and Shi'ite Muslims, Ayatollah Khamenei

He underlined that such seditious acts are totally against Sharia (Islamic
Law) and also in contrary to the laws of country.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that only Islamic unity can thwart the plots of
Global Arrogance and its agents. To cheers of "Allah-o Akbar" or "God is
Greatest" from the massive gathering, the Supreme Leader enumerated the
eye-catching progress made by Kurdistan along with the rest of the country
in all fields since the victory of the Islamic Revolution, calling the
province as a land of faith, culture, and outstanding sacrifices.
He said the Islamic stance of Iran toward the issue of ethnic
diversification is deeply rooted in Islamic teachings, calling on
different groups and ethnicities to coexist peacefully with each other and
move toward Iran's progress through making use of talents and potentials.
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution finally said that by
turning out massively for the forthcoming presidential polls the people of
Iran can again frustrate the designs of the enemies of the Islamic
Republic to try to undermine the system.
He also emphasized that the Iranian people and government have chosen
