Meeting a huge gathering
of nurses, teachers and workers
(2009/04/29)
Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei said that in
spite of enemy efforts to dent the upcoming presidential elections, the
great Iranian nation will produce such a huge turnout that leaves enemy in
fury.
In a speech to a huge gathering of nurses, teachers and workers from
across the country, Ayatollah Khamenei said the despotic kings of Qajar
and Pahlavi used to consider the country and people as their property and
in absence of people, only what they wished would turn from ceremonial
ballot boxes however the Islamic Revolution turned the page and handed the
power to people.
The IR Leader said in the course of the thirty-year-old Islamic
Revolution, people's vote directly or indirectly has had key role in the
choosing of all the country's authorities however the enemies cut out of
their illegitimate interests have kept to ignore or deny the blessing
public role and instead tried to question the Iranian elections.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the Iranian elections were freer and more
enthusiastic than many of the so-called democratic countries. He regretted
that while healthy elections have always been staged in Iran, some unfair
compatriots who suppose people to heed their call are making shabby
comments against the nation and by repeating the enemy lies question the
health of elections.
Ayatollah Khamenei said all authorities and people helped secure the
health of previous elections, adding that in one or two elections before,
there were questions for some individuals over the elections but more
investigations proved they were healthy.
Ayatollah Khamenei then said "many a time elections results have run
counter to a ruling party so how one can move to question the elections."
Ayatollah Khamenei expressed hope that God-willing the nation as a
whole would go to presidential ballot and would create a vote which
infuriates the enemy.
Ayatollah Khamenei in another part of his speech called teachers,
nurses and workers as key strata in society. The IR Leader said teachers
are entrusted with children and play a key role in building their
personality, hence their invaluable role.
Ayatollah Khamenei urged the society and government to value the role
of teachers, adding that teachers too must value their occupation.
Ayatollah Khamenei then said the structure of the education ministry
must undergo a dramatic change so that it could respond to traditions and
needs of the country. He said the experiences of other countries,
including the west should be used in this regard but no imitation should
take place.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the situation was opportune to push the change
through the ministry with respect to the stable status of the country,
adding that the government must innovatively and bravely put to action a
package of studies it has already carried out in this regard.
Ayatollah Khamenei also underlined the issue of nurturing in education,
adding that the mind of children could also needs nurture and the issue
must be considered in textbooks, selection of teachers, and the education
system.
The IR Leader also urged the ministry to consider quality matters in
expansion of educational services.
Ayatollah Khamenei then praised the status and role of nurses and urged
people to appreciate the individuals whom he described as angle-like.
He said nurses and midwives have a key role in the country's health
system and urged them to appreciate their occupation and value their
services.
Ayatollah Khamenei also called workers as a pivot of society and urged
promotion of domestic production through appreciation of role workers,
employers and managers of labor units.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the real price of using foreign made
commodities was continued work of Iranian laborers in other countries and
job loss inside the country. Ayatollah Khamenei said the Iranian workers
enjoy ability to design and implement most complicated plans and produce
quality goods.
The IR Leader then urged provision of job security for workers and
underlined how it may affect the quality of production.
"Consumption of domestic products must be considered as a value inside
society and in order to materialize the issue, domestic products must
improve, foreign goods must not be advertised, employers must be
appreciated, and all elements of production and imports must cooperate
with each other," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
Supreme Leader's Message
on the Terrorist Attack on Iranian Pilgrims in Iraq
24/04/2009
Ayatollah Khamenei the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution issued
a message of condolence on the occasion of the tragic terrorist event
which led to the martyrdom of the innocent pilgrims to the holy shrines in
Iraq. The full text of the message is as follows:
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The tragic terrorist event which led to the martyrdom of the innocent
pilgrims to the holy shrines in Iraq filled with grief the hearts of those
who seek prosperity and salvation in following the path of the Holy
Prophet (s.w.a.) and his household - those whose hearts are brimful of
love for the Prophet's household. The disgraceful people who committed
this appalling crime and who have the blood of these innocent pilgrims on
their hands should know that they chose the satisfaction of devils over
that of God's saints. They should know that they are engulfed in the
flames of God's wrath. "And truly hell encompasses the disbelievers" [The
Holy Quran, 9: 49].
The filthy hands and wicked minds which have spread such blind and
uncontrollable terrorism in Iraq should know that they will also be
engulfed in these flames, and their evil intentions will rebound on
themselves, as was the case in some other Islamic countries.
The main suspects in this crime and similar other crimes are the
American security forces who have occupied an Islamic country under the
pretext of fighting terrorism in a tyrannical manner. They have massacred
thousands of people, and have constantly increased insecurity in that
country. The growth of the poisonous weeds of terrorism in Iraq will
undoubtedly be put on America's criminal record and the American and
Israeli intelligence services are the main suspects.
We expect the Iraqi government to seriously oppose such crimes and to
provide maximum security for the pilgrims to the holy shrines in Iraq.
Those who were killed in this event are the martyrs of Imam Hussein's
path and will hopefully be rewarded by Allah the Exalted. However, the
hearts of their families are brimful of grief. I hereby extend my
condolences to all those who were bereaved by this event, especially to
the families of the martyrs. I pray to Allah the Exalted to aid the
recovery of those who were injured in the event.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei talks
with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez (C) in Tehran on Saturday, while
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad looks on.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali
Khamenei on Saturday commended the courage, justice-seeking and
humanitarian stances of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.
“Your coming to power in Venezuela marked a new chapter in the history
of Latin America and the courage of the government and people of Venezuela
helped create self-reliance among the people in the region,“ the leader
told Chavez, www.leader.ir reported.
Ayatollah Khamenei praised the valor of the Venezuelan leader and his
government vis-ˆ-vis the Gaza crisis and Caracas’ decision to cut ties
with the Zionist regime.
“What the Venezuelan government did was in essence the duty of European
governments which often boast of advocating human rights É, but
unfortunately European governments took a reverse course during the
genocide in Gaza,“ he noted.
The leader characterized America as accomplice of the Zionist regime in
the slaughter of innocent people in the tiny Palestinian costal city
earlier this year and pointed to the fury of the arrogant powers toward
Venezuela’s stance in the Gaza war.
“The anger of arrogant powers and their stance against us reveals that
we have influence (on the global scene),“ he pointed out.
The leader also referred to the propaganda launched against Iran’s
nuclear energy program in recent years and said, “In this case also the
anger of arrogant front shows that Iran’s access to nuclear technology is
an effective measure for fortifying the virtuous stance in global
equations.
Westerners know that we are not after the atomic bomb, their anger is
mainly because a country has acquired nuclear technology without their
permission.“
He noted that bilateral ties in various sectors are good.
“However, both countries possess vast potential for bolstering
cooperation and there also is potential for transforming bilateral ties
into multilateral collaboration,“ he noted.
Chavez, for his part, expressed gratitude for having the opportunity to
once again meet Ayatollah Khamenei and said that he is a student of
leaders of the Islamic Revolution.
“We have learned a great deal from the political experience of the
Iranian government and people in resisting foreign enemies and imperialism
and will strongly continue our struggle for maintaining our independence,“
he said.
