TEHRAN (FNA)- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed
Ali Khamenei underlined that no other country can deceive or intimidate
the Iranian nation.
Addressing a huge crowd of Iranian people in the holy shrine of Imam
Reza (AS) in Mashhad, northeastern Iran on Sunday, the Leader said that
the Iranian dear and great nation with using the current positive grounds
would change the fourth decade of the Revolution to a high and remarkable
step towards genuine cause of the "Progress and Justice".
Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to the millions of Iranian educated, fresh
and learned young people, valuable experiences of elites, officials and
managers against different problems including carrying out the article 44
of the Constitution and preparing the main infrastructures in different
fields were among grounds for changing the fourth decade to the decade of
progress and justice.
The Iranian Leader urged for decrease the gap between the rich and poor
in the society for achieving the true justice and said that materializing
these causes is difficult but achievable.
Ayatollah Khamenei in elaborating the models of justice pointed to
serious fight against economic and social corruption and said that
reaching a model of progress based on justice needs faithful, brave, pure
and foresightful managers.
Pointing to the message of the new Iranian year to the nation over
revising the pattern of consumption Ayatollah Khamenei said that this is a
real step towards progress and justice because the disease of wasting
would bring many economic, social and cultural problems to the country and
threaten the future of the country.
Ayatollah Khamenei termed economizing as optimizing consumption of
sources and said that we witness some false manners in this regard in our
country which have ruined the balance between production and consumption
against production. For example one third of bread and one fifth of water
in the country are wasted.
The Islamic Republic Leader termed revision to pattern of consumption
as a religious and rational issue and advised the three branches of the
government to adopt practical moves in this regard.
In another part of his address Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to the
upcoming presidential elections and said the election is one of the main
pillars of the country and said the religious democracy would not be
established by words but it needs presence of the people and rational and
emotional link between the people and the country's developments and this
goal will not be achieved only through massive and correct elections as
well as high turnout of people in the elections.
The Leader termed the election as an investment by the nation for a
bright future and so every vote is important and would grow this national
investment.
Addressing the presidential candidates, Ayatollah Khamenei said the
elections is not a tool to grab on power but it is a mean for promotion
the national strength of the country and warned them of every words which
cause the enemy's greed against the country.
The Supreme Leader advised the candidates to preserve fair criticism in
face other candidates. He asked the candidates to offer their views to the
people and the people choose their options vigilantly.
Pointing to some useless efforts to mislead the people in this regard
Ayatollah Khamenei said over 30 elections has been held until now and the
officials had guaranteed the safety of the elections so the nation would
not affect by some misleading moves. He also underlined for holding a safe
election by officials.
Pointing to the Leader's stance in the elections the Leader said there
were some rumors in this regard but I have one vote and I would not
determine a certain candidate because the people themselves should choose
their candidates with their own knowledge.
"Sometimes I defend the government and some persons take false
understanding from the issue meanwhile it is my duty to defend the
governments which serve the nation more, resist against the arrogance and
hit by unfair criticisms and this is not a stance about the elections," he
added.
Ayatollah Khamenei touched on the issue of Iran and America and termed
the quality of interaction with the American government as a big test for
the Iranian nation and the Islamic Republic.
He pointed to the enmity of the American administration towards the
Iranian nation and the Islamic Republic and said," America provoked and
helped the terror and separatist moves against the Islamic Republic and
based on reliable information America cooperates with terrorists along the
Iran-Pakistan borders."
Pointing to America's atrocities against the Islamic Republic of Iran
including seizure of Iranian assets, supporting Saddam in his invasion of
Iran which left 300,000 Iranian martyrs and massacre of 300 people in the
missile attack against Iranian passenger airplane, Ayatollah Khamenei said
"Could the Iranian nation forget these tragedies?"
Touching on the imposed sanctions on the Islamic Republic of Iran
during the past 30 years, America's support to criminal terrorists,
bringing tensions to the region absolute support to the Zionist criminals
and continuous threat against Iran as permanent enmities of America
towards Iran, the Leader said that the American officials have insulted
the Iranian nation many times and even some of the seeks eradication of
this great and honorable nation.
Ayatollah Khamenei noted that the American new government says that it
has stretched its hands towards Iran and we say if cast-iron hands have
been hidden under a velvety glove so this move would be in vain.
Pointing to the America's message over the new Iranian year Ayatollah
Khamenei said they even had accused Iran of supporting terror and seeking
nuclear weapons. He asked if it is a congratulation or continuation of the
same accusations.
"We don't know who is the real decision maker in America. The President
or the Congress but we underlined that the Iranian decide on the basis of
definite calculations not on emotions," the Leader said.
Ayatollah Khamenei touched on the issues of talk with America and the
new slogan of change of the new American President urged them to show real
changes in this regard.
"Has your enmity with the Iranian nation ended? Have you released the
Iranian assets or cut the sanctions? Have you quit negative propaganda
against Iran? Have you ended your absolute support to the Zionist regime?"
Ayatollah Khamenei asked.
The Supreme Leader said that a real change should not be a mere playing
with words and if you want to follow your previous goals and just change
your tactics this would be a deception not change so you should change
practically. However the American officials should be cautious that the
Iranian nation can not be deceived or intimidated.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the American officials have to change
their attitudes adding," If you do not change be sure that divine customs
and nations will change you."
He advised the American officials to investigate the reason behind
hatred of the world's public opinion towards their country and said," Take
lessons from realities. Stop such policies and behaviors for your and your
country's sake and interest. In that case your image will gradually
improve in the minds of public opinion. Ponder carefully on my words. Of
course, do not give them to Zionists to be translated; rather, consult
with the right people."
"Our word is as long as the US is following its past 30 years hostile
methods, policies and approaches, our nation will be the same as the past
30 years and will become stronger and more experienced than ever,"
Ayatollah Khamenei said.
Ayatollah Khamenei expressed his deep sorrow over demise of the Wife of
the Late Imam Khomeini, Mrs. Khadije Saqafi and said that this notable
personality stood by the Late Imam Khomeini in different incidents. He
prayed peace for her soul.

Iran, the Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution enumerated elections as one
of the pillars of the Islamic system, while adding that religious
democracy is not attained only through words and calls for the
participation and resolve of the Iranian nation and people's ideological,
logical and emotional connection with the national developments. In Fact,
materialization of this goal is only possible by holding appropriate
elections and people's high turnout in the poll. The Supreme Leader
further termed elections as the nation's huge investment for appropriate
administration of the country's affairs and to fulfill a bright future.
The Supreme Leader underscored that every single vote cast is of
significance and promotes this national investment.

hostility towards the Iranian nation and the Islamic revolution, by
successive Republican and Democratic administrations. He said right from
the beginning of the revolution, the Americans have aided and abetted our
opponents, have actively supported terrorist groups and groups trying to
break-up Iran; He said these hostile and sinister efforts continue to this
day, with reliable and solid information linking US agents with terrorists
and bandits who are active on Iran-Pakistan border, and who have carried
out terrorist attacks inside Iran.
Tehran, March 22, IRNA - Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Seyed Ali Khamenei on Sunday led special Prayer the deceased wife of the
father of Islamic Revolution and founder of the Islamic Republic the late
Imam Khomeini.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was among the top officials and people
from various walks of life who attended the ceremony in Tehran University
on Sunday morning.
Funerals for the late lady started with recitation of verses from Holy
Quran, followed by special mounring ceremonies.
Mrs. Khadije Saghafi passed away in Tehran Saturday morning after a
long period of illness.
After the funeral ceremony, the lady’s body was carried from Tehran
University on the shoulders of mounring people to Enqelab Square for
burial at the mausoleum of the late Imam Khomeini.

Seyyed Ali Khamenei, in Tehran on Friday congratulated the Iranian people,
both at home and abroad, on the occasion of Nowrouz, or the new Iranian
year, describing the new Iranian year 1388 as the year of reforms in
consumption patterns.
In a televised address on the advent of the New Iranian Year, the
Supreme Leader described the year which has just ended (1387) as an "eventful
year", referring to important developments and events both at home and
abroad in Iranian year 1387.
The Supreme Leader pointed out that the year started with good news in
relation to Iran's peaceful civilian nuclear programme, news which
reflected the capabilities and talents of young Iranian scientists and
engineers. He referred to the launch into space of Iran's home-made
telecommunications satellite "Omid", on board an Iranian rocket -- placing
Iran among just a handful of countries which have the capability of
manufacturing a satellite and sending it into orbit into space.
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, also referred to the test-run of Iran's
nuclear power plant at Bushehr, saying the entire world has realized that
it is impossible to block Iran's steady advance in peaceful civilian
nuclear technology. He pointedly added: "Iran's advancement in scientific,
technological as well as non-scientific fields has proven the
ineffectiveness of sanctions against Tehran, and the great Iranian nation,
relying on its highly talented and capable youth, will counter and foil
the enemies' media propaganda campaigns and plots".
In further remarks, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, referred to the
global economic meltdown, and said even though the economic crisis, which
started in the United States, has created a lot of turmoil regionally and
internationally, Iranian officials have successfully managed to steer Iran
more or less clear of the great economic thunderstorm which has battered
so many countries.

22-day Israeli military assault on the people of Gaza , which ended in the

Supreme Leader calls new
year, year of consumption pattern reforms
Tehran, March 20, IRNA –The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution,
Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, here on Friday called the current Iranian
year the year of the public and officials’ movement towards reforms in
consumption patterns.
“Considering the vital and essential importance of prudent and wise
consumption of the country’s resources, I consider the new year the year
of reforming consumption pattern in all domains and aspects,” announced
the Supreme Leader in a televised address on advent of the New Year.
Congratulating the Iranian and Persian speaking nations on Nowruz (New
Year), Ayatollah Khamenei wished the nation success and prosperity.
The new Iranian year and spring season, Nowruz (Noruz), began at
15:13:39 local time (11:43:39 GMT) on Friday March 20 (today).
“The year 1387 started with good nuclear news, which proved capability
of the Iranian nation and skilled scientists of the country. The launching
of Omid Satellite put Iran in the list of a few states having such an
important technology. So really shocking achievements have earned Iranian
nation new credit and prestige,” announced the Supreme Leader.
Pointing to the test run of Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, Ayatollah
Khamenei said, “The world has come to know that the path to Iranian
nation’s nuclear success can not be blocked because Iran’s achievements in

large extent from falling into huge waves of problems that resuled from
the global crisis; of course, one should still be careful and try to gain
God Willing more economic progress,” added the Supreme Leader.
Also referring to the Zionist regime’s failed 22-day attack on Gaza and
to the “admirable” resistance of the oppressed Palestinian people,
Ayatollah Khamenei said, “Zionists’ humiliating defeat earned such an
important experience for the world people that they can resist against and
overcome the tyrants.”
Supreme Leader: ECO
should turn into a more dynamic, stronger body
Tehran, March 12, IRNA – Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution here
Wednesday encouraged Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) to become a
more dynamic, stronger assembly.
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in a meeting Wednesday evening with the
Tajik President Imomali Rakhmon called the ECO a good organ, referred to
sensitive status, particularities, and various potentials of ECO members
states, and reiterated, “Taking full advantage of such complementary
potentials, this regional organ should turn into a more dynamic, stronger
body.”
Referring to the cultural and historic commonalties of Iran and
Tajikistan, including the Islamic faith and the Persian language, his
eminence considered them as precious potentials that can be taken
advantage of at the service of the expansion and deepening of cooperation.
Ayatollah Khamenei further emphasized, “The Islamic Republic of Iran is
ready for presenting its eye-catching advancements in various fields,
including those in aerospace engineering, medical sciences, and various
industries to the friendly and brother countries, contributing thus to a
harmonious and balanced regional development.”
During the meeting in the presence of the IRI President Mahmoud
Ahmahdinejad, the visiting Tajik President, too, conveyed the warm
respects and heartfelt greetings of the Tajik nation to the Iranian leader.
President Rakhmon added, “The world nations have been witnesses to the
advancements of the Islamic Republic of Iran and those advancements have
been causes for feeling proud and prosperous of the entire world Muslims
and Persian speaking folks around the globe.”
Imomali Rakhmon also said that the level of bilateral relations is
quite satisfactory and good, referred to the ongoing joint projects of the
two countries in Tajikistan, and added, “We have always held high hope for

Supreme Leader: OIC
should forge unity among world Muslims

Seyyed Ali Khamenei said here Wednesday OIC should try to forge unity
among world Muslims.
The Supreme Leader made the remark in a meeting with the OIC Secretary
General Ihsan Oghlou on Wednesday evening.
The enemies spare no effort to rift discord among Muslims through
sowing the seeds of ethnical, religious and political disputes, which puts
the burden on the shoulders of the OIC to seriously deal with the matter,
said Ayatollah Khamenei.
"The OIC could play a very significant role in bringing the Muslim
nations much closer than what they currently are to one another, and in
forging solidarity annd unity among them," he pointed out.
"The OIC slready plays a very prominent role in global developments and
in regulating the relations among the Muslims worldwide," said the supreme
leader, adding that the role of the OIC to this effect is quite vital.
Referring to the huge human disaster in Gaza and the expectations of
the Islamic countries for adopting a unified stand in dealing with it,
Ayatollah Khamenei said, "During the 22-day war in Gaza, many nations
entered the scene but some of the Islamic governments ignored their
oblgation for adopting an appropriate stand."
It is expected that during the era of reconstruction of Gaza the
Islamic countries should adopt a proper and rational attitude and
contribute to resolving the problem," said the supreme leader.
"It is incumbent for the OIC to arrange for coordination among Islamic
countries at various economic, cultural and service rendering sections,"
said Ayatollah Khamenei adding that Iran as a member of the OIC, is going
to spare no efforts in that regard.
Also present at the meeting there was the First-Vice President Parviz
Davoudi.
The OIC secretary-general, for his part, briefed the Supreme Leader of
the Islamic Revolution about the activities of the organization in various
fields, such as the body’s efforts to forge unity among world Muslims, and
policies to fight against Islamophobia in the West.
"The OIC has recently sent a letter to its members urging them to
actively cooperate in bringing the Zionist heads of state to an
international cort of justice for the serious war crimes they have
committed, he said.
Supreme Leader: No sign
of change in US wrong policies
Tehran, March 11, IRNA - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that the US is now pursuing its previous
policies and there is no sign of it making good on in its past mistakes.
The Supreme Leader made the remark in a meeting with visiting Turkish
President Abdullah Gul who is now in Tehran to attend the 10th Summit of
the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
There are ample grounds for cooperation between the two countries which
should be explored, said the Supreme Leader, adding that ECO is a good
pattern for expansion of regional economic cooperation between Iran and
Turkey which play a key role in the region.
Iran and Turkey are capable enough to bolster political and security
cooperation and render invaluable services to their nations, said
Ayatollah Khamenei.
The Supreme Leader expressed satisfaction with the agreements reached
between the two presidents on expansion of mutual cooperation and said
Turkey’s railways network which connects Iran to Pakistan and southwest
Asia is a good example of such broad-based cooperation between the two
countries which should be extended to other sectors.
Iran and Turkey should meet their interests given that such expansion
of cooperation would trigger hostilities of enemies such as the Zionist
regime and the US, said Ayatollah Khamenei.
The two sides' officials are determined to broaden cooperation between
the two countries, pointed out the Supreme Leader.
Referring to the Middle East region, the Supreme Leader said the issue
of Palestine is on top of agenda of world Muslims, adding that Turkey
played a very good role in the issue of Gaza crisis and the country’s
premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan did a great job in Davos conference.
Highlighting current developments in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Supreme
Leader said the US made big mistakes in Afghanistan and Iraq and the
stance taken by the US administration on in Gaza was among their grave
mistakes.
The current US administration is now pursuing the pervious wrong
policies and there is no sign of any change to this effect, said Ayatollah
Khamenei.
The enemies of Islam wish to undermine Islam in Islamic countries
including the Islamic Republic of Iran but to no avail, said the Supreme
Leader.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was also present in the meeting.
The Turkish president, for his part, described the two sides' relations
in the religion and in the world of Islam as exemplary and said Turkey is
determined to upgrade the level of its cooperation with Iran.
The Islamic Republic of Iran and Turkey are able to revive the Silk
Road, he said.
The issue of Palestine remains on top of agenda of the world as well as
the Muslim world, he said, adding that the Islamic countries should forge
unity to help alleviate sufferings and pains of the Palestinian people and
help them vindicate their rights.

Ali Khamenei stated today in Tehran that the crimes committed by the
Zionists in Gaza proved that the savage and criminal nature of the
ringleaders of the usurper state of Israel has not changed since the
usurpation of the land of Palestine. The supreme Leader in his address to
the International Conference of "Palestine, Symbol of Resistance: Gaza,
Victim of Crimes" said "crucial and important developments have occurred
which have made the future horizon of the chronic issue of Palestine and
our responsibilities more clear."
He said among these important developments were the amazing military
and political defeats inflicted by the Islamic resistance in Lebanon on
Israel during the 33-day war in 2006, and the humiliating failure of the
Zionist entity in the 22-day long criminal war against the people of Gaza
and the legal government of Palestine.
Ayatollah Khamenei added that now this usurper entity which with its
army and weapons backed by the US military and political support tried to
put up a fearsome and supposedly undefeatable facade during the last
several decades, has twice been forced to suffer defeat at the hands of
the forces of resistance fighting with trust in God and the people, rather
than reliance on arms and equipment.

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei Wednesday

in its 33-day war against Lebanon and its 22-day brutal attack against the
Gaza people and the legitimate Palestinian Government indicate the growth
and consolidation of the burgeoning tree of Islamic resistance.
He made the remarks in a keynote speech to the Fourth International
Conference in Support of Palestine: the Model of Resistance, and Gaza: the
Victim of War Crimes attended by the leaders and high-ranking
parliamentary officials of the Islamic parliaments and distinguished
Palestinian and Lebanese figures .
Ayatollah Khamenei underlined the necessity of prosecution of Zionist
criminals, adding that the IRI solution for the Palestinian issue was to
hold a referendum in which all the Muslims, Christians and Jews residing
in the occupied Palestine as well as the Palestinian refugees vote to
their desired system in a democratic approach.

last night called the Islamic Republic of Iran as the staunchest friend of
the people of Iraq. He also underlined that Iran has done and will do its
utmost in supporting the elected government of Iraq to establish stability
and security in that American-occupied country. The Leader welcomed
expansion of Tehran-Baghdad relations in different sectors, noting deep
historical, religious, and cultural commonalities among the Iranian and
Iraqi peoples.
It is worth recalling that the greatest impact of the victory of the
Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979 was on the people of Iraq, but the
enemies of the two nations, used the tyrannical Ba'th minority regime of
Saddam to impose an unwanted 8-year war on the newly established Islamic
Republic of Iran. However, the US and the West failed to create bad blood
between the two friendly and fraternal people as is evident today in view
of the budding Iran-Iraq relations following the collapse of the Saddam
regime. Now is the time to make the best of lost opportunities by
expanding relations in all fields in order to ensure Iraq's independence
and end of American occupation. The occupiers are the main obstacle and as
noted by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, they are clearly
dissatisfied with the close relations between Iran and Iraq. Ayatollah
Khamenei cautioned the Iraqi president against the sinister designs of the
United States and Britain in prolonging their illegal presence in Iraq,
and called for vigilance. Another point emphasized in the meeting was the
decision of the elected government of Iraq to expel the MKO terrorist
outfit from its soil. The US occupiers of Iraq as well as the European
Union are the main supporters of this terrorist group whose hands are
stained with the blood of thousands of Iranian and Iraqi Muslims.
