Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei wrote a message
Friday to Ismail Haniya, the Premier of the Gaza-based legitimate
Palestinian government about the defeat and disgrace of the equipped army
of the Zionist regime in the face of the "patience, bravery and sacrifice"
of the valiant combatants and the innocent people of Gaza.
Ayatollah Khamenei in the message praised that the dignified
perseverance of the Gaza people against one of the most atrocious war
crimes in history helped discredit America, the supporters of the Zionist
regime and the traitors and hypocrites in the Islamic Ummah.
Ayatollah Khamenei also noted that the perseverance of the Gaza people
will hoist the dignity flag of the Islamic Ummah and will growingly deal
humiliation to the anti-human enemies.
The text of the message follows.
Bismillah-e Rahman-e Rahim
Dear Ismail Haniya, the Mujahid brother,
"Peace be upon you, for that you were patient" (The Thunder: 24)
Twenty days of perseverance by you, by the valiant and martyrdom-ready
combatants and by the people of Gaza from all walks of life in the face of
one of the most atrocious war crimes in history and world has helped hoist
the flag of dignity over the Islamic Ummah.
You proved that a Muslim heart full of faith in God and in the Day of
Resurrection and a solemn and dignified Muslim soul which never bears the
humiliation of submission towards bully and oppression would generate such
strength against which tyrant and arrogant governments or equipped armies
would feel feeble and would suffer indignity.
An army already held stuck for the past twenty days behind the gates of
Gaza thank to the strength of your sacrifice and your welcome to martyrdom
is that same army which took rein of large tracts of three Arab countries
in six days. Take honor in your faith, in your reliance on God and in your
honest belief in the Divine Promises and know that all Muslims do too.
Your Jihad to date has discredited America, the Zionist regime, their
supporters, the United Nations and the hypocrites in the Islamic Ummah.
Today, not only the Muslim nations, but many of the European and
American nations have accepted without qualifications that your have been
rightful. You are already the victors and through keeping the dignified
perseverance, you can push further the abject and anti-humane enemy to
humiliation and defeat, God willing. Indeed 'Your Lord has neither
forsaken you nor hates you' (The Forenoon: 3) and indeed 'Your Lord shall
give you, and you shall be satisfied' (The Forenoon: 5), God willing.
Nonetheless, the bloody and tragic incidents befallen on the
Palestinian civilians, especially the innocent children have rent our
hearts. The scenes of crimes of the usurpers of Palestine, broadcast
several times a day through all our television channels have made our
nation sad and bereaved. May God multiply your award and hasten your
victory. Indeed the promise of God is true Who said 'Assuredly God will
help him who helps Him' (The Hajj: 40) and 'Whosoever struggles, struggles
only to his own gain' (The Spider: 6).
The Arab traitors would rather realize that their fate would not go
better than that of the Jews in the war of confederates (early in Islam)
for whom the Almighty said 'And He brought down those of the People of the
Book who supported them from their fortresses' (The Confederates: 26). The
nations have sided with the people and the Mujahids of Gaza. Any
government which defies the practice would more distance from its nation
and the fate of such governments is definite. If they care their life and
dignity they must take note of the word of the Commander of the Faithful,
Ali (A.S.) who said: 'If you are downtrodden, you life will be but death
and if you are dominant, your death will be but life.'
I send my praise to you, to the combatants of Gaza and all your
innocent and resistant people and in the company of all the efforts the
government of the Islamic Republic of Iran have made as a duty, I pray for
you day and night and ask the All-mighty, All-powerful God to confer
patience and victory on you.
And Allah's peace, mercy and blessings be on you and on the devout
servants of Allah

TEHRAN (FNA)- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed
Ali Khamenei outlined the general policies of Iran's Fifth Five-Year
Development Plan (2010-2015) in a letter to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
on Saturday.
Iran's 20-Year Outlook Plan (2005-2025) provides the framework for the
general policies of the five-year development plans, the Leader wrote in
the letter.
The general policies of the Fifth Development Plan center round
cultural, scientific, social, economic, political, defense, and security
issues, he added according to MNA.
With the second five years of the 20-Year Outlook Plan fast approaching,
it is expected that the parliamentary bill for the Fifth Development Plan
will be prepared soon, he noted.
Increasing the country's research budget to 3 percent of the GDP and
establishing effective relations between universities and industry are
some of the scientific objectives of the Fifth Development Plan, Ayatollah
Khamenei explained.
The realization of a sustained annual economic growth rate of 8 percent,
diversification of the economy to end the government's dependence on oil
and gas revenues, implementation of the general policies necessary for the
privatization of state companies envisioned in Article 44 of the
Constitution, and the promotion of competitive markets are some of the
economic objectives of the Fifth Development Plan, he wrote.
Boosting businesses in border regions, decreasing the chasm between the
rich and the poor, and redirecting government subsidies are some of the
other economic objectives of the next five-year plan, he added.
In the political, defense, and security spheres, the plan seeks to
expand bilateral, regional, and international relations, defend the rights
of oppressed Muslim nations, strengthen Iran's relations with friendly
states, enhance Iran's defense and deterrent capabilities, and encourage
proposals for restructuring the United Nations.
Ayatollah Khamenei has also sent similar letters to Parliament Speaker
Ali Larijani, Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi, and
Expediency Council Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani.

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Khamenei said Israel and US by
their gut-wrenching atrocities in Gaza actually seek to annihilate the
foundation of resistance in the Middle East ....
Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei said Thursday
that Israel and America by their gut-wrenching atrocities in Gaza actually
seek to annihilate the foundation of resistance in the significant Middle
East region and subsequently take rein of its riches and benefits.
Ayatollah Khamenei described the massacre of children, women and the
innocent people in Gaza at the hands of the Zionists as a rare tragedy,
adding however that the developments will definitely lead to victory of
truth over falsehood thanks to God's assistance, the firm resolve of the
Palestinian combatants and the presence of nations in the scene.
Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in a public meeting coincided with
the Ashura anniversary when the third Shii Imam, Hazrat Hussein ibn Ali (A.S.)
was martyred in a battle against the bullying rulers of his time, 13
centuries ago.
The IR Leader said the message of the unforgettable Ashura epic event
was that the Islamic ummah must keep vigilant adding that Imam Hussein
taught the nations to bear their responsibility of keeping vigilance
towards any sort of hidden conspiracies and adopt a timely and brave
action to counter them, albeit incurring some necessary price to foil the
conspiracies.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the Zionist bloodshed in Gaza also has a covert
side which enshrouds some conspiracy to annihilate the foundation of
resistance in the region and consequently take rein of the riches in the
Middle East. Ayatollah Khamenei urged the Muslim nations and government to
heed the point and adopt an appropriate action to counter the conspiracy.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the Big Satan and the Usurper Israel also
sought an identical objective in their 33-day war against Lebanon in
summer 2006 but to no avail.
"They sought to produce a kowtow Middle East. Their hodgepodge of
dreams failed to realize as brave, sacrificing and faithful Lebanese
youths delivered a hard slap in the mouth of America, Israel and all their
cronies," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
Ayatollah Khamenei then touched on an official acknowledgment in the
West that the Islamic Republic of Iran had stood model for regional
resistance.
"They have admitted too that the Islamic Iran thanks to its people's
vigilance is viewed by the regional nations as a spectacular paradigm of
resistance and victory. The domineering powers have now targeted the
innocent, democratic government of Hamas as a stage of their conspiracy to
annihilate the resistance," Ayatollah Khameeni said.
The IR Leader then warned against theindifferent governments in the
region that if the enemies of Islam got success at the stage for sure they
would not leave alone other parts of the Middle East. "The Islamic states
which have refused to help Palestine should understand the dangerous
consequences of their mistakes."
Ayatollah Khamenei said the awakening of nations and their presence in
the scene was an important factor in boosting the Palestinian resistance.
"I especially thank the faithful youths who gathered in airports and
other places and announced their wish to go to Gaza. But I must note that
our hands are bound in this regard," the IR Leader added.
"Nevertheless, everybody should know that the Islamic Republic will do
whatever needed to help innocent Palestinian people as it has already done
in the past," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
The Islamic Revolution Leader called the efforts of some Islamic
governments in support of the people of Gaza as good but insufficient. "By
constant political and public pressures, we should force the enemy to
withdraw," Ayatollah Khamenei urged.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the tragedy of Gaza shed the reputation of the
wrold's fake human rights advocates.
"The shelterless children and the oppressed women of Gaza fall on the
ground every day like autumn leaves while no utterance is heard from the
United Nations, or other organizations who claims are advocating human
rights or Western governments including the European governments. The
bitter reality shows the insincerity and deceit of the organizations and
governments who claim they are defending human rights."
Ayatollah Khameeni Expressed deep regret that some intellectuals, press
and media within the Islamic world had directed their attacks at
Palestine's legal government or had justified the Zionist crimes.
"These people will for sure be responsible in front of God for their
complicity with the criminals. Fortunately in the Islamic Iran, the solid
unanimity of people and government has led to a laudable support for the
oppressed Palestinians."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Gaza developments will definitely lead
to victory of truth over falsehood, adding that even if the enemy, God
forbid, got success to kill all resistance fighters and Palestinian
strugglers, the Palestinian cause would not vanish.
"No doubt, Palestine thanks to its experiences would rise up in front
of the enemy very much stronger than before and would finally overcome
them," the IR Leader added.
"God willing, all Muslim nations will celebrate their victory in a near
future," the IR Leader promised.

Supreme Leader Meets with
Iraqi Prime Minister
04/01/2009
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei met
today with the Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Maliki. In this meeting,
Ayatollah Khamenei said trusting the Iraqi people, developing strong ties
with people from different denominations, and strengthening ties with
neighboring countries are key factors which will contribute to Iraq's
power and stability.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Iraqi government should rely on these
three factors in order to achieve its goals and stated that the Iraqi
government should consider faith, courage, and national grandeur as vital
resources for the country.
Referring to the mutual trust between the Islamic Republic and the
Iraqi Prime Minister and government, Ayatollah Khamenei said that the
Islamic Republic has developed strong ties with the Iraqi people and added:
"The efforts of the Islamic Republic are aimed at promoting grandeur,
independence, peace, and progress in Iraq. And The Islamic Republic will
take all the necessary steps to achieve this goal."
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the presence
of American and British forces in the region as the main reason behind
terrorism and the internal problems of Iraq and said: "The Iraqi people
will not be relieved before the American forces leave Iraq."
Ayatollah Khamenei also said that the US is making efforts to dominate
other countries and exploit their resources. He further expressed concerns
over the US-Iraqi security pact and added: "Americans violate all
agreements and are not even loyal to their closest allies in the region.
Therefore, none of their promises can be relied on."
Ayatollah Khamenei further stated that maintaining resistance and
vigilance are the only ways for opposing the American and British plots in
the region and said: "The Iraqi government should prove to the Iraqi
people that it will not give up the rights of the Iraqi people due to the
enemies' pressure and threats."
Elsewhere in his speech, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution
said that building a permanent American base in the region is one of the
main goals of the American government in the region.
At the beginning of this meeting, Mr. Nouri Maliki referred to the
cordial relations between the two countries and said that the meeting was
highly beneficial for the Iraqi people. He also said that developing
mutual relations in political and economic sectors can provide a model of
progress for the region.
