Ali Khamenei, in his meeting with Navy force commander, Rear Admiral
Habibollah Sayyari, and his deputies on the eve of Navy Day (November 27),
said in Tehran today that the Islamic Republic has emerged as a regional
power, thanks to its reliance on God and judicious utilization of all
potentials that have turned the enemies' threats into opportunities. He
said Iran's power is because of the grace of God that has enabled the
nation to strive towards spectacular progress, as admitted even by the
dismayed enemies.
Noting that the Army belongs to Iran and Islam, the Supreme Leader said:
"the revolutionary base and high potential of the army is today evident to
all, an example of which was the amazing courage of the air and naval
forces in the beginning of the 8-year war the US imposed on Iran through
Saddam in the 1980s.
Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted the spiritual, technical, combative and
military capabilities of the Navy and said now, the young and powerful
forces of Iran, despite sanctions, have been able to build the most
sophisticated naval facilities along with necessary repair of the
equipment.

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei in a
meeting today with the Lebanese president Michel Suleiman and his
accompanying delegation described unity among the different Lebanese
groups as the only solution for the Lebanese people and reiterated: "The
Islamic Republic of Iran believes that all the Lebanese groups should
present a unified front and contribute to the country's power and national
unity in order to resist the threats posed by the Zionist regime."
His Eminence thanked Mr. Suleiman for his efforts to maintain national
unity in Lebanon and also for his support of the Islamic Resistance
Movement in Lebanon.
Ayatollah Khamenei expressed hopes that the negotiations held during
the meeting will further strengthen the ties between the two countries and
said: "The Islamic Republic of Iran will not abandon the Lebanese people."
Ayatollah Khamenei also said that the coexistence of the different
denominations in Lebanon is a valuable factor and a model to follow for
other countries.
His Eminence described the historic victory of the Lebanese people over
the Zionist regime as another great achievement for the Lebanese people
and added: "This was a victory that was unprecedented in the history of
Arab and Muslim countries during the last 60 years. But the Lebanese
people defeated the Zionist regime and expelled the Zionist army from
their country."
Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that maintaining unity is the only factor
that would help the Lebanese people overcome the Zionist regime and added:
"Holding negotiations among the different Lebanese groups will bring about
positive outcomes and the future of Lebanon depends on maintaining
national unity in that country."
His Eminence further added: "The Lebanese people vehemently opposed the
Zionist regime during the 33-day war in Lebanon and turned into a model
for other Muslim countries."
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution described resistance as
significant for the Muslim world and Arab countries and stated: "Muslims
should maintain the spirit of resistance in their hearts and actions in
order to continue their victories."
Ayatollah Khamenei described terrorism as a great danger for Lebanon
and other countries of the region and reiterated: "Terrorism was caused
due to the support of certain governments. However, those governments have
now fallen victim to terrorism and still continue to support terrorism
despite their failures."
Ayatollah Khamenei also said that the right policy should be adopted to
fight terrorism, and referring to the presence of the homeless Palestinian
people in Lebanon added: "The right policy is to allow the Palestinian
people to stay in Arab countries. But the Palestinian people should
finally return to their homeland."
Ayatollah Khamenei also said that the Palestinian people will finally
return to their own country although some people consider this as
impossible.

Ali Khamenei, in a meeting with participants of the 17th Nationwide Prayer
Conference said in Tehran on Wednesday that sublimity and sincerity of
prayers play a vital role in reforming not just the individuals but the
whole society. He said the symbols of Islam, the daily prayers in
particular, should be made manifest in all spheres of an Islamic society,
with emphasis on their practical application.
The Supreme Leader added that sublimity and sincerity in performing
prayers brings peace of mind, in addition to promoting security and
tranquility in the society.
Meanwhile, calling control of emotions and carnal desires as a
pre-requisite to attain bliss and happiness, Ayatollah Khamenei said if
animal instincts are properly controlled through cognizance and
remembrance of the Omnipresent God, one will succeed in reaching the peak
of perfection.
On the other hand, he added, if passions become wild and unrestricted,
they will lead to tyranny, poverty, and arrogance.
Prior to the Supreme Leader's remarks, Head of the Prayer Headquarters
of Iran, Hojjatoleslam Mohsen Qara'ti briefed the gathering on the
activities of his organ, saying some 900 articles and 700 artistic works
in the field are now on display at Tehran University, where 17th
Nationwide Prayer Conference is in progress.
Supreme Leader criticizes
irresponsible remarks against government
Tehran, Nov 5, IRNA
Iran-Supreme Leader-Hajj
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on
Wednesday that some people try to magnify minor issues in the society with
an aim of making people dubious about the government's performance.
The Supreme Leader made the remark in a meeting with officials in
charge of Hajj pilgrimage in Tehran.
Criticizing the existing atmosphere prevailing in the mass media, the
Supreme Leader said the Almighty God will not forgive those making
irresponsible remarks and raising allegations against the government's
performance.
Referring to Hajj ritual, Ayatollah Khamenei advised those in charge of
Hajj pilgrimage to seize the opportunity to bring Muslims much closer to
one another both in their minds and deeds.
During Hajj pilgrimage, Muslims avoid ordinary practices such as
negligence, degradation, and materialistic life and enter a spiritual
world which is regarded as a good practice to cut materialistic desires
and resort to Almighty God instead, said Ayatollah Khamenei.
Hajj is not a ordinary trip for fun but is a simultaneous travel of
body and spirit, said the Supreme Leader.
"You should advise Iranian and non-Iranian pilgrims to seize such an
unprecedented opportunity in the best possible manner," the Supreme Leader
said.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that Muslims due to their diverse ethnic
backgrounds, races, cultures and tastes have been separated from one
another but the Hajj ritual could mend such fences and bring Muslims much
closer.
All should exercise vigilance to remain united and prevent any discord
and disputes during the pilgrimage, underlined the Supreme Leader.
Ayatollah Khamenei said Hajj is a suitable opportunity to demonstrate
existing realities in the Islamic Republic of Iran for other Muslims, said
Ayatollah Khamenei.
On innocence of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Supreme Leader said
that this is because the country has been subjected to various accusations
and politically motivated hue and cry which should be revealed in order to
enlighten the minds of Muslims during Hajj ritual.
Referring to amicable ties between Shiite and Sunnis in the Islamic
Republic of Iran and their peaceful coexistence under rule of Holy Quran,
the Supreme Leader said in many Islamic countries and even in non-Muslim
states, many people love the Islamic Republic of Iran, its late founder
Imam Khomeini and the Iranian nation. However, he added, the enemies try
to introduce Iran as the enemy of religions, a point which should be
clarified to world Muslims.
Muslims are not pleased and have voiced their hatred of the hostility
and interference of the global arrogance, the US in particular, said the
Supreme Leader.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that many Muslims are deprived of an
opportunity to express their dissatisfaction but Iran is now regarded as a
big tribune for them to express themselves and this is why the US is
Iran's arch enemy.
Prior to the Supreme Leader's remarks, Head of Hajj Pilgrimage
Organization Hojjatoleslam Mohammadi Reyshahri briefed Ayatollah Khamenei
on the programs of the organization for such divine occasion.
Leader Urges Iran Military
Breakthrough
2.11.2008
TEHRAN (FNA) - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution urged Iranian
experts to make a technological breakthrough in the country's defense
industry.
Iran's Deputy Army Commander Brigadier General Abdolrahim Moussavi said
Saturday that Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, in a new command, had called
for exclusively-developed military equipment.
"One method to win an all-out war is to employ weapons which the enemy
is unfamiliar with," Brig. Gen. Moussavi said.
The Iranian official also announced that 109 types of innovative
military equipment had been added to the Iranian arsenal over the past two
years, a few of which were displayed during the country's recent maneuvers.
The report comes as earlier in August, the Leader called for concerted
efforts to further upgrade and promote the Iranian Air Force fleet to
counter Western threats of an air strike on Iran's nuclear facilities.
Brig. Gen. Moussavi cautioned that Iran has a better geopolitical and
strategic advantage over the enemy in the event of an attack on Iranian
soil, press tv said.
'Different locations outside Iranian borders have been chosen as
targets and should the occasion arise Iran's Armed Forces will strike
these bases,' said the Iranian commander.
Israel, the sole possessor of a nuclear arsenal in the Middle East,
accuses Iran - a signatory to the nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty (NPT) -
of making efforts to develop a nuclear bomb and has threatened to strike
Iranian nuclear facilities.
In response to war threats, Iran has warned it will not hesitate to
target 'Israel and 32 US bases' in the region, should the country come
under attack.
