Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei Tuesday praised
the Palestinian people and the Hamas government for their robust
resistance against the stiff pressures and unprecedented crimes of the
Zionist regime and its bullying friends.
"The Zionist regime, which once looked invincible, suffers its weakest
ever position now, being unable to stand against the shelter-less and lone
Palestinian nation that nevertheless has been persevering," Ayatollah
Khamenei told the Hamas Political Bureau Chief, Khaled Mashal and his
accompanying delegation.
"May Allah's peace be upon the Palestinian nation which has stood by
like mountains despite all these stunning and unprecedented atrocities,"
Ayatollah Khamenei said.
The Islamic Revolution Leader said that the sole way to free Palestine
was to keep resistance and faith. He appreciated the elected Hamas
authorities, not least the Premier Ismail Haniya, for adopting a brave and
resolute stance.
The Islamic Revolution Leader expressed deep sorrow at the current woes
of the Palestinian people, especially the inhumane siege of the Gaza Strip
coupled with the daily bloodshed of women, children and other defenseless
people in the area.
"The tragic scenes are painful. However, the perseverance of the
innocent Palestinian people against the usurper Zionist regime which is
backed by all sorts of economic, military and propaganda supports,
generates hope and proves to be a Divine Promise," the IR Leader added.
Ayatollah Khamenei elaborated that the Palestinian issue and the
frustration of the Zionist enemy and arrogant powers against the nation as
well as the ever growing achievements of the Iranian nation despite all
pressures in the past thirty years are all the clear interpretation of the
God's promise that 'if one assists the faith of God and persevere, God too
would assist him.'
Ayatollah Khamenei noted that perseverance in the path of God has a
price, adding however that those who step in the path and endure any
potential hardships would be honored by God whereas those who choose
another path would pay the price of being shameful before God.
Khaled Mashal for his part delivered a report on the latest Palestinian
developments, especially the disastrous situation in Gaza, adding however
that the Palestinian nation takes honor in its perseverance and would not
relinquish resistance or support to the Hamas government under any
conditions.
Hamas Political Bureau Chief said the Palestinian youths have embraced
spirit of martyrdom, adding that the issue had given a large boost to the
position of the Palestinian resistance.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei issued a
message Tuesday on the inaugural of the eighth Iranian Majlis, urging the
elected lawmakers to live up to their significant undertaking.
"A pious, brave, independent, and wise Majlis has helped introduce a
model of Islamic democracy to the world," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
The IR Leader reminded the lawmakers that it had been a top demand of
the nation to form a parliament through public vote which seeks to run the
country through laws and regulations and implements the sacred Islamic
goals.
"The beginning of the 8th Majlis is coincided with the fourth decade of
the Islamic Revolution which is the decade of progress alongside justice;
Progress in economic, moral and cultural affairs and justice in the
distribution of material and spiritual facilities," Ayatollah Khamenei
wrote.
Ayatollah Khamenei underlined the need for close interaction between
the Majlis and the Executive Power.
"While Majlis' responsibility as a supervisory body should not be
neglected, at the same time, the responsibility should not be considered
as a means to compete with the government or ignore its demands and
shortages," the IR Leader said in his message read out by his
representative Qolam-Hossein Mohammadi Golpayegani.
Ayatollah Khamenei called Majlis and the Executive Power as two elected
and revolutionary bodies committed to the Islamic values and principles.
The IR Leader concluded his message by saluting the Noblest Messenger
of Allah, Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH) and his infallible household.
Ayatollah Khamenei told a
committee to commemorate the 19th anniversary of the sad departure of Imam
Khomeini
21.5.2008
Imam Khomeini demarked the main diplomatic and ideological boundaries
of the Islamic Republic by pen and tongue and was sedulous to protect
those boundaries," the Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali
Khamenei said Wednesday.
Ayatollah Khamenei told a committee to commemorate the 19th anniversary
of the sad departure of Imam Khomeini that the perfect personality of the
departed was an inspirational model for treading the path of the Islamic
Revolution.
"The honorable Imam tried in different revolutionary stages to protect
the premises of the Islamic Revolution from diversion or infiltration of
alien agents," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
"His attitude teaches us a great lesson," the IR Leader added.
The IR Leader noted that the departed Imam even banned any use of
borrowed words like 'democratic republic' and instead coined new words
through an Islamic, revolutionary prism.
"The departed Imam coined the terms 'Islamic Republic' and 'Welayah' (custodianship)
in place of 'democratic republic' and 'government or monarchy'
respectively in an innovative measure to demark the boundaries of the
Islamic Republic System," the IR Leader added.
Contrasting Welayah and its equivalences in the current international
politics (government, monarchy), Ayatollah Khamenei said that Welayah
stood for a combination of sovereignty and intimacy.
"The coinage connotes that the Islamic System pursues sovereignty under
Islamic beliefs. It points to Imam's foresight and sedulity to demark the
Islamic System's boundaries with other political systems," Ayatollah
Khamenei said.
"Political and ideological boundaries function in the same manner as
geographical boundaries," the IR Leader noted.
"Unfortunately the IR boundaries were not preserved at some point to
the extent that even some individuals who had love for the Revolution and
Imam Khomeini moved to cross the boundaries in negligence," Ayatollah
Khamenei said.
"The Islamic Republic System is fed by a spontaneous source of energy
like the Sun," Ayatollah Khamenei said, adding that a clear sign of the
reality was its endurance against all sorts of conspiracies hatched by the
enemies.
"A similar and substantive example of the endurance took place early in
Islam, during the ten-year government of the Messenger (S.A.)," Ayatollah
Khamenei said.
Ayatollah Khamenei said even the alien bloc had acknowledged the
progressive trend of the Islamic Republic, adding that the status quo had
come by through use of a part of revolutionary capacities and that the
nation had yet to exhaust all revolutionary deposits.
In another regard, Ayatollah Khamenei attached high significance to the
annual commemoration ceremonies of Imam Khomeini's departure. The IR
Leader said the interest of people worldwide in the departed leader was
exceptional.
"Notable in the ceremonies is the presence of the young generation
which could not see the time of Imam. This shows that the youths keep an
abudant source of affection for Imam in their hearts," Ayatollah Khamenei
said.
Arrogance club has climbed
down
20.5.2008
Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali khamenei told a visiting
Eritrean President Tuesday that the global relations have changed with the
arrogant club having climbed down from its position.
"Nowadays conditions of the world have changed compared to twenty years
ago as America and other domineering countries have had to back down in
the face of self-assured nations and heads of some governments,"
The Islamic Revolution Leader denounced the dichotomy of
docile-domineering in the international relations as irrational and
unfair, adding that the Asian, African and Latin American countries could
modify the current international relations through expansion of bilateral
or multi-lateral ties.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the nations and governments at present need to
boost self-assurance in their inner side, adding that America and Israel
run against proximity between independent countries and for the same
reason they had already played a key part in inciting tragic conflict in
Africa.
Ayatollah Khamenei praised Eritrean people for their historical
struggle against arrogance and said that the Iranian people always keep
solidarity with them.
"Iran looks up to the African countries," Ayatollah Khamenei affirmed,
adding that the IRI was ready to expand mutual relations with African and
Asian countries, with neighbors top on agenda.
In the meeting where IRI President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was also present,
President Afwerki thanked the Iranian nation for its support to the
Eritrean nation.
President Afwerki called the Islamic Revolution a political watershed
in freeing regional nations from arrogance.
"Following the revolution, the arrogance lost ground," he said.
The Eritrean President touched on common stance of Iran and Eritrea
towards regional and international affairs and called for expansion of
ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei delivered a speech on
Thursday to tens of thousands of faithful revolutionary people of Larestan
County who had gathered in Takhti Stadium and the nearby streets.
Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the presence of the American troops in Iraq
and in the region as the reason behind the current insecurity and unrest,
further reiterating: "Relying on Islam, the great Iranian nation will
defend their interests, identity, and reputation as a unified front.
Benefiting from the efforts and talents of our enthusiastic youth, our
nation will achieve a high position in the world."
On the last day of his trip to Fars province, the Supreme Leader of the
Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei delivered a speech on Thursday to
tens of thousands of faithful revolutionary people of Larestan County who
had gathered in Takhti Stadium and the nearby streets. Ayatollah Khamenei
referred to the presence of the American troops in Iraq and in the region
as the reason behind the current insecurity and unrest, further
reiterating: "Relying on Islam, the great Iranian nation will defend their
interests, identity, and reputation as a unified front. Benefiting from
the efforts and talents of our enthusiastic youth, our nation will achieve
a high position in the world."
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that knowledge about
the past paves the way for better understanding of the current issues and
helps find appropriate ways in the future. His Eminence also touched upon
the Islamic and anti-colonialist uprising of the people of Larestan, under
the great Ayatollah Sayyid Abdul Hossein Lari, that took place more than
100 years ago. He added: "Under the leadership of the mujahid and
knowledgeable clergy, the people of Larestan proved that one can triumph
over the greatest and the most obstinate enemies through knowledge,
courage, and insight. The Iranian nation put this effective lesson into
practice during the Islamic Revolution."
Explaining the positive outcomes of the Revolution, the Supreme Leader
stated: "At that time, the global powers thought that they had uprooted
religion and religiousness in the world, especially in the Islamic
countries. But having learned lessons from the past Islamic revolts and
activities, the Iranian nation hoisted the flag of Islam and adherence to
the Quran and Islamic principles. To the surprise of the world's bullying
powers, the Iranian nation restored religiousness to human life."
Ayatollah Khamenei touched upon the increasing inclination of people
towards religion and spirituality even in non-Islamic countries, further
adding: "This reality is one of the outcomes of the great miracle that the
Iranian nation performed through the Islamic Revolution and through
presenting the world with a model for religion-based rule."
Referring to the prerequisites of the Iranian nation's powerful
continuation of its movement, His Eminence described reliance on Islam as
being of paramount importance. "Islam embodies freedom, independence,
grandeur, general welfare, progress, and all blessings and goodness in
this world and the hereafter. Therefore, reliance on Islam is the unique
way of realizing the ideals of the nation," he said.
Ayatollah Khamenei described the unity of the Iranian nation, unanimity
of Muslim nations, and cooperation among Islamic countries as absolute
necessities. Referring to the efforts of the domineering powers to make
the Persian Gulf states fear the Islamic Revolution, he said: "As it has
declared since the beginning, the Islamic Republic believes in the Islamic
unity from the bottom of its heart. Just like the past, the Islamic
Republic extends the hand of friendship towards its neighbors."
His Eminence said that the Islamic Republic's insistence on unity in
the Islamic world is not because it needs the neighbors. "Rather, it is
all based on its deep Islamic beliefs," he said. He also added: "Unfortunately,
the enemies sometimes succeed in their plots to foment schism in the
Islamic world. However, in spite of all these machinations and the efforts
of American and Zionist espionage systems, the Islamic Republic has good
and friendly relations with the Arab and non-Arab states in the region and
these relations are being boosted on a daily basis."
His Eminence described the spirit of brotherhood and cooperation among
the Shia and Sunni Muslims of Larestan County as an exemplary model of
unity among Muslims, further reiterating: "Different opinions,
interpretations, and tastes should not undermine the unity and collective
efforts of Shia and Sunni Muslims which are aimed at promoting monotheism,
and actualizing the principles set by Islam and the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.)."
Ayatollah Khamenei described preventing Muslims nations from following
the Islamic Republic model as the basic reason behind the enemies' threats
and their political and economic propaganda - including the shameful
writings of some of their mercenaries in the Arab media - and added: "The
Iranian nation is the heart of the Islamic Ummah and the center of the
great Islamic awakening and progress, and global bullying powers are
worried about this increasing attention of the Islamic Ummah to this
practical model."
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said the only way to
oppose the different plots of arrogant powers is increasing unity and
nonstop efforts to make progress on all fronts in the country and added:
"Of course the true nature of the policies of those who oppose Islam has
been revealed to the people of the region, and the falsity of their claims
has been proven."
His Eminence described the presence of the American forces in the
Persian Gulf as a source of insecurity and further stated: "Security in
the Persian Gulf should be provided by the governments of this region, and
everyone should know that the period of the bullying powers' domination
over other countries, canals and strategic regions is over."
Ayatollah Khamenei described the Americans' claims about providing
security in Iraq as a blatant lie and stated: "As some of these Americans
confessed they invaded the country for its oil reserves, and they are the
greatest source of insecurity in the country due to their disregard of the
Iraqi people's lives, principles, and pride."
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution later referred to the
false accusations of the US regarding the role of Iran and other countries
in the Iraqi insecurities, and reiterated: "The very presence of the
American invaders would suffice to provoke to the Iraqi people. Therefore,
the Americans are the main culprits in this issue."
His Eminence said the American's interference in the issue of Palestine
and their support of the Zionist regime has made the Palestinian issue
more complex and added: "The vigilant, noble, and broad-minded people of
Palestine have elected their government and this elected government is now
in charge, but the Americans are a barrier to peace in the country due to
their unwarranted interference in Palestine and their support of the
Zionists."
At the end of this part of the speech, Ayatollah Khamenei stressed: "Undoubtedly,
the issues of Palestine and Iraq will be solved and will result in the
disgrace of the Americans and the network of arrogance."
His Eminence referred to the final days of his trip to Fars province,
and extending his sincere thanks to the people of this province, he said:
"During this 9-day trip, the honorable people of Fars province treated me
with utmost kindness and sincerity."
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution added: "During yesterday's
meeting with the cabinet members in Shiraz, different problems and issues
of Fars province were discussed and some good and important decisions were
made. I hope the officials can render great services to the kind people of
Fars province."
At the beginning of this meeting, Ayatollah Ayatollahi welcomed the
Supreme Leader to Larestan County on behalf of himself and the Sunni and
Shia residents of this County.
Fars province, home to a
wealth of privileges
7.5.2008
□ Photo □Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei
instructed the authorities in charge of Fars provincial affairs Wednesday
to set up a center in the province whose major aim is to grow up talented
artists and promote a dedicated art which embodies religious teachings.
"Art stands as an aesthetic aspect of creation per se but could become
a very significant phenomenon once embodying a religious essence,"
Ayatollah Khamenei told an assembly of executive officials in Fars
province south Iran.
Ayatollah Khamenei described the people of Fras as talented and
virtuous and appreciated them for offering many literary and historical
personalities to the world. The IR Leader said the population unlike these
great moral and historical traits shuns publicity but these must not cause
the authorities to fail their undertaking of living up to the wealth of
talents and utilizing it in the progress of the country.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the province is highly privileged for being
place to the holy shrines of Ahmad ibn Moussa (S.A.) and several other
descendants of the holy messenger of Allah, Hazrat Muhammad (S.A).
"Shiraz, after Mashhad and Qom ranks third among the shrine cities in
Iran," Ayatollah Khamenei considered, adding that the national budget
makers must earmark a special tranche of credits for the province with the
aim of raising awareness about the sanctity of the area in home and abroad.
Ayatollah Khamenei also directed the relevant authorities to broaden
their plans to boost tourism in the scenic, ancient province especially
considering its tourism attractions including the holy shrines, the tombs
of globally renowned men of letter like Sa'adi and Hafiz and other
historical sites scattered in the province.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the pre-Islamic sites in the province could be
treated from two distinctive different approaches.
"In one view, these sites belong to tyrants and despots of Iran's
history and therefore they would lose luster in the eyes of the faithful.
However, one must not write off the point that the historical sites either
way are built by the dexterous hands, creative minds and magnanimous
spirits of the Iranians. The realities cause one to take honor in Takht-e
Jamshid (Throne of Jamshid) and other historical sites in Iran," Ayatollah
Khamenei reckoned.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that at time when some countries were trying to
fabricate historical heritage of their own, the authentic heritage of the
Iranian nation was a source of confidence.
Ayatollah Khamenei noted that while the nation takes pride in its
pre-Islamic heritage, the imagination of the Iranian nation actually
flourished in the post-Islamic era.
"Researches show that the civilization, art and culture of the Iranian
people four or five centuries after Islam was never comparable to those of
the pre-Islamic era. The rise took place under the auspice of Islam,"
Ayatollah Khamenei said.
Ayatollah khamenei appreciated the people of the province for the
hospitable welcome the accorded to him and expressed hope the local
officials would procure and implement several ratifications made during
the visit in a short time.
The IR Leader reminded the authorities that the opportunity to serve
the people was a God's blessing which could be cherished by offering
genuine and tireless efforts to the people and respecting them

in all fields and realms, and can attain its desirable elevated status.

from any previous systems dominating Iran in the past in that it converted

Iran must be treasured," Ayatollah Khamenei added.

including universities, Howzeh (schools of Islamic studies) and research

in the country.
The IR Leader urged the elites to promote hope among the people,
especially the youths adding that the elites must combat against a killer
poison the enemy tries to spread in the society by blackening and
frustration projects.

witness an Iran which reposes atop in civilization and grandeur so that
all nations and world scientists and intellectuals feel a need to its

5.5.2008 - Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei
Monday urged the people and authorities to keep engaged in their concerted
effort to build Iran and present an Islamic model of development to the
world.
Delivering a landmark speech to a large assembly of people in a stadium
in the Fars provincial city of Kazeron south Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei
appreciated that the country restored its Iranian-Islamic identity thanks
to the Islamic Revolution and launched a long-scale initiative to achieve
a specific range of goals set by the same identity.
"30 years on after the Islamic Revolution was triumphed, the Iranian
nation, especially the youths are advancing towards the goals more
speedily than before. This has triggered frustration among the enemies of
the nation," Ayatollah Khamenei praised.
Ayatollah Khamenei elaborated that the global network of arrogance is
scared because the progressive move of the Iranian nation has been helping
boost Islamic awakening, adding that the nation however must keep alert
and identify the enemies' stratagems regardless of the fact that they have
yet to see any of its plots bearing results.
Ayatollah Khamenei noted that the Iranian nation is privileged by the
existence of intellectual scholars in Howzeh (schools of Islamic
jurisprudence) and university and the presence of enthusiastic, selfless
youths in the vanguard of scientific and technological spheres.
Ayatollah Khamenei alerted that the enemy tries to incite differences
between the country's political affiliations or various sects and distract
the youths from the revolutionary path through frivolous entertainments.
"The Iranian nation could rise above the enemy by God's Assistance and
through unity and selfless effort," the IR Leader vowed.
Ayatollah Khamenei noted that God Has assisted the Iranian nation,
adding, "At the present juncture, God's Assistance has emerged in the
reality that the American government as the incarnate of arrogance suffers
a host of problems including its failed projects in Palestine, Iraq,
Afghanistan and Lebanon."
Ayatollah Khamenei then touched on the growing US domestic discontent
regarding the protracted presence of the US occupying soldiers in Iraq.
"They have grown so discontent that even the US Republican candidate
for presidential elections, though as a publicity stunt, acknowledges what
we asserted earlier that the US was primarily pursuing oil by invasion of
Iraq. This is another proof that the American government has ended up in
failure," the IR Leader said.
Ayatollah Khamenei reckoned that the superpowers by nature try to
intimidate their rival even if they find their projects already in tatters.
"The Iranian nation realized the hidden reality and thereby did not
feel anxious about the intimidations of America or any other power. It
will also keep unperturbed to the extent the enemy would fail to realize
its yearning to see the Islamic Republic defunct," Ayatollah Khamenei
affirmed.
In this regard, Ayatollah Khamenei urged people and authorities to
strive to sustain their cordial relationship, adding that any one who
beats drum of schism and tries to drive a wedge between the nation and the
authorities moves against the national interests.
In another regard, Ayatollah Khamenei touched on the history of the
Kazeroon city, saying that the Kazeroon population must take pride in the
fact that the prominent early Islam figure Salman the Persian came from
the city.
"Salman the Persian belongs to all Iranians. The Iranian people feel
pride in a personality as Salman whom the Holy Messenger (S.A.) considered
as being among his revered household," Ayatollah Khamenei added.
"Salman is primarily appreciated for his faith and Mujahidat (selfless
effort) in the path of God as well as his pursuit of spring of truth. He
constitutes a model for all the Iranian youths," the Islamic Revolution
Leader said
Iranian nation can
withstand embargos
4.5.2008
Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei Sunday
instructed the authorities to formulate more effective plans for utilizing
the enormous natural and human resources of the country and helping expand
business activities.
"The people and authorities must advance the country to the points
where foreign sanctions or embargo threats are no longer harmful. They
must do the job as a national undertaking through a joint, diligent effort
and upon a clear-cut timetable," Ayatollah Khamenei said in a speech to a
very large assembly of nomads and other people of the southern Fars
provincial city of Nourabad Mamasani.
Ayatollah Khamenei then touched on different bungled conspiracies of
the enemies to break the resolution of the Iranian nation, adding, "The
enemies of the Islamic Republic of Iran assume now that threats of
sanctions could put a damper in our national resolve. Nonetheless, the
great Iranian nation will withstand the conspiracies and even will take
large strides as it did in the past 30 years under different sorts of
sanctions or embargos.
"Haven't you already tested the Iranian nation? We will keep our path
decisively and will not allow the arrogant to tread on the right of the
nation," the IR Leader said, alluding to the superpowers' recent threats
to impose further embargos on the Iranian nation.
Ayatollah Khamenei affirmed that the Iranian nation would not back down
in the face of threats, making it clear that the nation had opted for
perfection, dignity, independence and full implementation of Islamic views
in the country.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the only path to salvation and prosperity
of the Iranian nation and other Muslim nations lied in the instructions of
Islam.
"In the post-revolutionary era, wherever we have lived up to the
Islamic orders we could score better performances. The stand-by, ebullient,
brave, aware and smart Iranian nation is familiar both with its duties and
rights," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
In another regard, Ayatollah Khamenei viewed the nomads as source of
dignity for the country, elaborating that in Iran, in contrast with some
other countries, the diversity of ethnicities is considered as a privilege.
"The country's nomads have always safeguarded their nationality and
religion and showed interest in the Islamic platform as well as their
indigenous traditions," the IR Leader added.
Ayatollah Khamenei urged nomad youths to spend more time reading books
and consult Alims to enhance their religious bonds.
The IR Leader then reviewed the problems facing the Nourabad Mamasani
city and urged the authorities to accord further attention to the
underprivileged area.
In this regard, the IR Leader appreciated President Ahmadinejad
Administration for making first hand assessments of the situation in
different corners of the country in their routine provincial visits
The Supreme Leader:
Iranian Nation Remains Unflinching in Face of Enemy Conspiracies
Sunday, 04 May 2008 The Supreme Leader of the Islamic revolution,
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has commented on various threats by the
bullying powers, saying the Iranian nation will continue down its chosen
path of enlightenment, independence and building an Islamic society based
on Islamic principles, with honor and resolve, and no threat can stop them
from continuing this path. Speaking on Sunday morning, on the fifth day of

of cheering people and locals from the town of "NourAbad Mamasani", the
Supreme Leader referred to numerous enemy threats and conspiracies over
the years against Islamic Iran, stressing that the enemies failed time and
again to weaken the staunch resolve of the Iranian nation. In further

they think they can intimidate the Iranian nation through sanctions and
economic pressure, since the Iranian people's resolve remains as
unflinching as ever. The Supreme Leader stressed that in the past 30 years,
the Iranian people have overcome all sorts of sanctions and economic
embargoes, with the Iranian nation continuing to move forward and to

Islamic Ummah -- is through adherence to Islam and Islamic teachings. He
stressed that after the revolution whenever Islamic principles and
teachings have been followed diligently, we have been more successful and
excellent progress has been made. The Supreme Leader said the Iranian
nation, vigilant, courageous, responsible and conscientious as ever, will
continue to carry out its duties and defend its rights, with vigour.

at University
Sunday, 04 May 2008 The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution,
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, said today that the White House is
attempting to inculcate the existence of a foreign enemy for covering up
its failed policies. Addressing thousands of university students and
professors in Shiraz, Ayatollah Khamenei said on Saturday that the US has
mobilized all its political, economic and propaganda capabilities and its
international ballyhoo against Iranian nation to cover up its failures
inside America and abroad. He went on to say that the US confrontation
with Iran indicates to what extend the Iranian people played its due role
in raising the flag of resistance and how best it was able to enlighten
other nations; the matter that put the interests of the global arrogance
into jeopardy. The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution lauded the
people's due resistance, non-stop efforts, unity, continued struggles to
tackle problems in the way of attaining the goals of the Islamic
Revolution, despite different kinds of pressures put forth by the
so-called superpowers. Elaborating on the foundations of the Revolution
and its ideals, Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that with regard to the
illuminating path of Islam which includes all aspects of human beings'
material and spiritual needs, without any doubt all the manifestations of
the Revolution in Iran are originated from its Islamic roots. The leader
also referred to the anti-revolutionary elements as well as the 8- year
imposed war against Iran adding that the Iranian people managed to turn
all threats to opportunities into the way of progress and prosperity.
Prior to Ayatollah Khamenei's remarks, a number of university students and
professors expressed their views on the country's scientific, academic,
social, cultural and political issues.
The Supreme Leader's
Remarks to Families of Martyrs in Shiraz
Sunday, 04 May 2008 The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution,
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has stressed that United States and the
Zionist regime are opposed to the progress and advancement in Islamic
Iran, because of their desire to monopolize and to seek domination.
Speaking on Friday morning in a meeting with tens of thousands of families
of martyrs and those who sacrificed their life and limb for the Islamic
Revolution, in the southern Iranian province of Fars, the Supreme Leader,
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei emphasized that the US government is angry
not because of remarks by some Iranian officials, or because of some
policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran; rather, he said, the US
government is angry because of the vigilance, awareness, motivation and
determination of the Iranian people, and the younger Iranian generation in
particular, who are continuing the righteous path of the martyrs of the
revolution with pride and honour. He said this has dismayed and infuriated
the American government. Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali
Khamenei said foreigners regard Iran, with its enormously rich natural
resources and strategic location, as a succulent morsel, but the vigilance
of the Iranian nation, and the enormous talents of the Iranian youth, in
many different fields of science and technology, including peaceful
civilian nuclear technology, has depressed and infuriated them. In further
remarks, the Supreme Leader said even our enemies acknowledge the rising
influence of the Islamic revolution throughout the world, with the Islamic
Rvolution winning the hearts and minds of many peoples and nations. He
emphasized that behind the enemy's bluster and various threats and
muscle-flexing, lies a mortal fear of the flourishing Islamic Revolution.
Supreme Leader: Enemy Not
Blatant Enough to Attack
Sunday, 04 May 2008 The Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Seyed Ali Khamenei has emphasized that the enemies do not have the guts to
attack the Iranian nation. Speaking Thursday afternoon, during the joint
military ceremonies of Fars Province Armed Forces Units in the city of
Shiraz, southern Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei considered the threats leveled
by World Arrogance as a psychological warfare and underlined that the
enemies are not blatant enough to attack the Iranian nation. The Supreme
Leader underscored: "The ever-increasing reinforcement of the Armed Forces
in the Islamic System is not for attacking others, In fact, the policies
adopted by domineering powers warns nations to be fully prepared."
Referring to occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan by US, Ayatollah Khamenei
emphasized that the occupation forces entered Iraq with the motto of
establishment of security and freedom, but during the past five years, the
Iraqi people have borne the most insecure period of their lives because
the nature of major powers is based on occupation and insecurity. The
Supreme Leader termed Bush's presidential term as the most insecure era in
contemporary history and added Bush will leave office in a few months,
leaving the burden of his faulty actions for his successor, but his bleak
and gloomy record of conduct in stirring insecurity across the world;
spreading terrorism, occupying other nations and committing crimes will
always be remembered and remain open.
The Supreme Leader Calls
for Changes in Education and Teaching
Sunday, 04 May 2008 The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution,
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has stressed that the true status of
teachers in society must be revived according to logic and the teachings
of Islam. Speaking on Thursday morning in a meeting with thousands of
teachers and educators in the southern Iranian city of Shiraz (in Fars
province), the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei emphasized
that teachers must be regarded with dignity, respect and grandeur by the
whole of society. He stressed that there is great difference between how
Islam and the West regard teachers, and how they value the teaching
profession. Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei stressed that in Islam teaching
and education are regarded as a way of giving new life to the individual
and society. Elsewhere in his remarks the Supreme Leader urged teachers to
make a special effort to teach their pupils manners, morality, ethical
behaviour and spirituality, adding that the real art of teaching, and the
sure sign of a good teacher, is to develop and educate the young and
impressionable minds of youngsters in an appropriate manner. In further
remarks, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei called for a major re-haul and
shakeup of the education sector and teaching in schools, saying top
officials must come up with fresh and innovative ideas and carry out
scientific and detailed studies, making full use of experts in the supreme
council of cultural revolution, to present to the Iranian nation and
future generations a first-class education system. In further remarks, the
Supreme Leader said the Iranian youth and the younger generation are
extremely talented and very capable. He referred to the late founder of
the Islamic republic, Imam Khomeini, (may his soul rest in peace) , saying
the Iranian people are still faithful to their covenant with Imam
Khomeini, and are faithful to the values and ideals of the Islamic
revolution, and the younger generation have achieved a great deal, of
which Iran's peaceful civilian nuclear programme is just one example.
Turning to Iran's peaceful nuclear programme, the Supreme Leader said 20
years ago no one could believe that Iran would be producing centrifuges
and enriching uranium; but today this is the reality, and talented young
Iranian scientists, with their innovative ideas, are admired throughout
the world, for their enthusiasm for scientific advancement, and for their
determination to pursue their legitimate rights.
Policies of domineering
powers is the main cause of war

today.

religious scholars , students and clerics, the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah
Seyyed Ali Khamenei emphasized that major world powers are pursuing
policies which lead to corruption, oppression, war, bloodshed, and chaos
in today's world. Elsewhere in his remarks Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei
said Iran is the standard bearer and leading light in the fight against
oppressive and hegemonic policies of major world powers, and because of
this, Iran has been targeted by the 'global arrogance', in various
campaigns over the years. In further remarks, the Supreme Leader urged
vigilance and awareness, stressing that from a spiritual point of view;
the Islamic Republic of Iran can be further developed. Turning to the role
played by the "Ulemma" and religious scholars, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali
Khamenei said religious seminaries must educate faithful, devout, aware,
and courageous religious scholars, who through their faith in God, can act
as pillars of strength.
Remarks in Shiraz
Sunday, 04 May 2008 Addressing hundreds of thousands of enthusiastic
people at Hafeziyeh Stadium in Shiraz city Wednesday, the Supreme Leader
referred to the arrogant powers' threatening tone of economic sanctions on
the Iranian nation for the past two years, saying: "Iranians have been
already under different kinds of sanctions ever since the triumph of the
Islamic Revolution in 1979." However, the leader indicated, the people
have turned the threats to opportunities into ways progress, independence,
and self-belief. Ayatollah Khamenei added that the imperialist powers
resorted to their political and economic might to exert pressure on the
Iranian people in a futile bid to make them relinquish their rights. The
Leader reiterated the enemies' political and economic ballyhoos are aimed
at depriving the pious Iranian nation of its inalienable rights of nuclear
technology, national dignity, independence, decision-making, welfare and
prosperity. He then advised the people to keep in mind that the enemies
felt embarrassed and are frightened on seeing the unstoppable progress of
the Iranian people, and for this reason they have increased their futile
pressures." Ayatollah Khamenei took note of the triumph of the Islamic
Revolution as an unprecedented phenomenon in the country's history, saying
the Iranian masses generated the Revolution by relying on their faith,
national pride, historical honor, and cultural heritage. He lauded the
people for maintaining independence, freedom, national dignity, and
prosperity, while emphasizing their real faith in God the Almighty, and in
the Hreafter.

□ Photo □ Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei
described Basij (collective name for voluntary public forces) as a blessed
tree which was planted and grown under an initiative by Imam Khomeini the
Departed.
Speaking to a large gathering of Basij forces as well as soldiers of
the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) in Fars province south of Iran
Saturday, the IR Leader affirmed that Basij or "the collective association
of faithful and motivated youths" would always remain essential for the
Islamic Revolution in different defensive, cultural and social fields.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the Islamic Revolution was the outcome of the
positive response of the ocean of nation to the call of the revered Imam.
"The great response again took place during the Sacred Defense
(1980-88) where people with motivation, ebullience and faith rushed to the
battleground under the flag of Basij. The great national association has
extended roots across the vast Iranian land," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that Basij could be defined as a combination of
commitment, faith and motivation, adding that the smart and brilliant
innovation of Imam Khomeini was that he managed to mould the sacred
national motivation and commitment into an organizational entity.
"Thank to Basij, the revolution never faltered even in the early
awesome years of war. Actually the enthusiastic representation of
Basij-inspired youths helped brim the hearts with hope and pride," the IR
Leader appreciated.
Ayatollah Khamenei recommended Basij forces to study the lifestyle of
the senior martyred Basij commanders and their braveries in the Sacred
Defense so that they could better realize the merits of Basij.
Ayatollah Khamenei then pointed to the peace-time, civilian capability
of the Basij organization to absorb elites in various social fields,
adding that the capacity attests to the fact that the significance of
Basij is not confined to the task of defending the country against
political or military threats and rather the Basij is present wherever
Islam or revolution needs a motivated and effective public assistance.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the global monopolist superpowers are holding
an inner hostility towards the mottos of independence and justice
championed by the Iranian nation, adding that the aliens are expanding
their anti-Islamic and Anti-Iranian propaganda under different pretexts
whereas the aware Iranian people would remain impenetrable and invincible
against the enemies.
The Islamic Revolution Leader noted that by enhanced moralities and
religious knowledge, Basij could sustain its progress and expand into the
future generations of the dear Iran
3.5.2008
Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei recommended
Saturday that in order to set up an accurate and precise judgment about
the performance of the Islamic Revolution, one must consider the goals,
the internal and external impediments and the accomplishments of the
revolution through a large-scale approach.
Speaking to a gathering of over 20 thousand university professors or
students in Fars province south of Iran, the IR Leader said that a united
and ceaseless endeavor along with relentless combat against the sources of
encumbrances would indeed help fulfill all the aspirations sought by the
Islamic Revolution.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that it is essential to take account of trivial
matters when one is engaged in developing specific plans or programs,
however when making judgment about a massive event like the Islamic
Revolution, taking account of trivial matters might lead to confusion or
ignorance.
The IR Leader elaborated that a first stage to achieve a precise and
accurate judgment about the revolution is to deliberate on the goals of
the enormous movement.
"By the revolution, the people were seeking to build an independent
Iran, free from despotic rules, and brimful with prosperity, security,
spirituality and scientific accomplishments so that other nations learn
there is also a viable model of Islamic community there," Ayatollah
Khamenei added.
In the same regard, Ayatollah Khamenei reminded the audience that
contrary to a false interpretation of Islam, all the material and
spiritual goals of the revolution are inspired by its Islamic nature,
adding that Islam is capable of fulfilling all spiritual or material needs
of the mankind.
Concerning the requirement of taking into account the internal and
external impediments facing the revolution before making any judgment
about its performance, Ayatollah Khamenei said that according to Devine
Providence any endeavor would inevitably face some sort of encumbrance so
as to help such notions as Jihad (selflessness) and perseverance take a
concrete form.
Ayatollah Khamenei added that should man makes selfless efforts, the
Divine Providence would bring victory to him.
Ayatollah Khamenei outlined the internal obstacles facing the
revolution as intellectual weakness, indolence, excessive tolerance,
simple-mindedness, self-denial, and some misperceptions about Islamic
views, especially regarding Mahdaviat (belief in eventual savior of the
world).
"Many of these hurdles have been lifted by the help of people and
authorities however some others are out there," the IR Leader added.
Ayatollah Khamenei added that the society suffers from such shortfalls
as consumerism and pursuit of luxury life, adding that the pitfalls must
be removed through a joint effort by people, authorities and the media.
Concerning the external impediments facing the Islamic Revolution,
Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to the eight-year imposed war (1980-88) as well
as riots and unrests incited early in the revolution by rebels,
counter-revolutionary elements and eventually those who had incurred some
losses due to the Islamic Revolution.
"Even though the Iranian nation could effectively transforme the
immense threats into a large opportunity for further progress, the
protracted war inflicted heavy losses and damages on the Iranian nation,"
Ayatollah Khamenei said.
The IR Leader said another external impediment to the revolution was
the US mobilization of all its capacities to deal blows to the Iranian
nation, adding that the nation and revolution had really struck a
brilliant performance in light of the massive existing encumbrances in
home and abroad.
Ayatollah Khamenei attributed the US full-blown deployment of forces
against the Islamic Revolution to both the US policy of creating phony
external enemies in a bid to cover up its domestic failures and the
reality on the ground that the Iranian nation has seriously jeopardized
the US domineering policies by hoisting the flag of resistance and global
awakening.
The Islamic Revolution Leader noted that the Islamic System had made
huge accomplishments as it currently possesses a larger wealth of
experiences, more efficient management, more advanced scientific know-how,
and more stable economic status than what were available early in the
Islamic Revolution era.
"Moreover, the people have realized that it is wrong to copy other
economic models and that it is essential to formulate an Islamic-Iranian
model of development," Ayatollah Khamenei added.
"These are a range of strong points which would help the Iranian nation
overcome all the existing hurdles provided these advantages are
encapsulated with certain qualities," the IR Leader added.
Ayatollah Khamenei urged the academic circles to study the above
argument and provide effective solutions for any shortfalls, adding that
the eventual imperative strategy would be the collective endeavor of
people and authorities.
Ayatollah Khamenei urged the students to avoid enemy decoy in academic
circles and enhance their moral character.
"Spirituality and taking company with Koran and Sahife Sajjadiyeh would
prove instrumental to your scientific quests and would thwart any projects
which have targeted your religious and revolutionary spirit," the IR
Leader said.
Ayatollah Khamenei also urged for unity in the student associations,
adding that the students must not allow their different tastes to lead to
brawling over trivial matters.
Ayatollah Khamenei also urged the students to pave the ground for the
national decision-making process by creating an atmosphere of reserach and
debate in universities.
Ayatollah Khamenei also called on the young students to pursue social
justice demands.
The Islamic Revolution Leader encouraged the students that after the
Almighty God, he considers the faithful, ebulient students as his mainstay
and that of the Islamic System
2.5.2008
Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei vowed Friday in
a large gathering of war veterans' families in Fars province central Iran
that the great Iranian nation would keep advancing along the illuminant
path of its martyrs by adhering to Islamic values and making unwavering
efforts to meet national aspirations.
The meeting was held in the compound of the holy shrine of Ahmad ibn
Mousa, a prominent descendant of the Household (A.S.), known as Shahcheraq
situated in the Fars provincial center Shriaz.
Ayatollah Khamenei reviewed the stunning developments which have taken
place in Iran following the triumph of the Islamic Revolution, adding that
among others the issue of martyrs and martyrdom was exceptional as it
reflects light and wonder no matter it is approached from which facet.
The IR Leader elaborated that the case of martyrdom in the Islamic
Revolution was startling in terms of the motivation of the martyrs to
serve the path of God, their valiant conduct in the battleground and their
impatience to get reunited with their beloved God.
"The patience and fortitude of the honored families of the martyrs is
also among the matters which would stun every one," the IR Leader
continued.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the Iranian nation owes a tremendous debt to
its sublime martyrs and their enduring families, adding that the martrs
opened up the way of salvation and dignity for the Iranian nation and
brought liveliness, decisiveness and independence to the nation.
"The Iranian history will never lose sight of this debt," Ayatollah
Khamenei urged.
The Islamic Revolution Leader noted that the endurance and growing
popularity of some historical events including Ashura (Imam Hussein's
uprising) in the course of history attests to the significance of those
events, adding that the issue of martyrs and martyrdom in the Islamic
Revolution too enjoys the same qualities as those events and the passage
of time would unearth the reality.
The IR Leader pointed to the admittance by enemy that the Islamic
Revolution is growingly finding its way into the hearts of the nations,
adding that the enemy's threat-game stems from its fear about the
increasing popularity of the Islamic Revolution.
The Leader criticized those negligent individuals who claim that the
era of Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini and martyrs was over, adding, "The
unaware enemies too at some point believed the claims were true but then
became frustrated as they faced the progress and grandeur of the Iranian
nation."
Ayatollah Khamenei said the hostile mood of the US and Zionists towards
the accomplishments of the Islamic System stems from their monopolistic
policies.
"Transgressor aliens considered Iran as a sweet prey in light of its
endless reserves and strategic location however they grow frustrated and
infuriated as the nation was awakened and the Iranian youths shined in
different fields of science and technology, including nuclear energy," The
IR Leader.
"The fury of the US government is not stoked by the remarks of certain
IRI's authorities or certain IRI's policies rather they are angered by the
vigilance, motivation and diligence of the nation in covering the path of
honor, or say the path of martyrs," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the martyrs and those live veterans who have
lost their body parts in the 8-year defense (1980-88) are the mainstay of
the nation, urging their next of kin to take pride in those flags of
dignity.
"The wives of those martyrs could live up to their status by growing
children who are determined to follow the model of their fathers,"
Ayatollah Khamenei encouraged, adding that the Almighty God would award
those valiant women.
"Future belongs to the great Iranian nation. The people and authorities
will achieve their greatest dreams by the resolve of the youths and under
the auspices of the flames lighted by the blood of the martyrs," the
Islamic Revolution Leader underlined
Iran Daily, 2.5.2008 - Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Seyyed Ali Khamenei gestures before addressing the public gathering in
Shiraz, Fars province, April 30. Leader of the Islamic Revolution
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said the Iranian nation is determined to
resist all threats or sanctions, and foil attempts by enemies to magnify
Iranian problems. Ayatollah Khamenei made the remark on Wednesday in an
address to a huge public gathering in Shiraz, IRNA reported. “The Iranian
nation will turn all threats imposed by the enemies into opportunities and
bring development and pride to the country,“ he said. Ayatollah Khamenei
noted that by relying on their historical and cultural achievements, the
pious Iranian nation have made the Islamic Revolution victorious and
helped attain independence, national dignity, welfare and prosperity. “Any
nation should tolerate difficulties to attain its prime goals and
aspirations,“ he said, citing eight years of Sacred Defense (the 1980-88
Iraq-imposed war), fight against terrorism, resistance against threats as
well as economic sanctions as some of the hardships borne by the Iranian
nation. The leader pointed out that the Iranian nation, from the early
phases of the Islamic Revolution, faced economic sanctions and embargoes
but managed to turn all threats into opportunities. “I advise you to
remember that this great nation has never been afraid of economic
sanctions,“ he said. Ayatollah Khamenei noted that the international
capitalist system, through its extensive political propaganda, made huge
efforts to force Iran to abandon its legitimate right to nuclear energy
but to no avail. He added that the pace of Iran’s development frightened
them such that they exerted more pressure on Iran, while ignoring the fact
that the Iranian nation will turn all these threats into opportunities for
its development. “The foreign media try to exploit all factors, including
even natural disasters, droughts and price hikes which are rampant
throughout the world, in order to put more pressure on the Iranian nation
and officials. Therefore it is necessary that people exercise more
vigilance,“ he said. The leader further said that the ongoing economic
crisis crippling the world has been unprecedented in the past 60 years.
“This crisis has forced the UN to declare a global alert over food
shortages, but foreign radios imply that the current price hikes and
inflation in the country have resulted from the carelessness of Iranian
officials which, of course, is not true,“ he said. “Thanks to Almighty God,
the problems in Iran are much less than those in other countries.“
Ayatollah Khamenei said enemies are trying to magnify Iranian problems and
this will be resolved through a timely and precise economic plan. “Current
problems such as drought require the collective effort of people and
officials,“ he said.
Enemies would not dare
attack great Iranian nation
2.5.08
Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei told a joint staff military ceremony in
Fars province central Iran Thursday that the Armed Forces have been
securing public tranquility as a robust bulwark, urging for the military
to enhance its preparations more than ever.
IRI national anthem was played out as the Islamic Revolution Leader
arrived in the ceremony ground in the Army's central command in the Fars
province. Ayatollah Khamenei then stood in homage before the martyr
monument set up in the ground and read out the first sura of the holy
Koran as tribute to the souls of those fallen.
The Commander-in-Chief then reviewed a guard of honor conducted jointly
by the Army soldiers, IRGC forces, Basij forces and the Police.
He then commiserated with some of the soldiers who had lost their body
parts in the sacred defense known as Janbaz (sacrificing soldier) among
the Iranian nation.
Ayatollah Khamenei then delivered a speech to the military, saying that
Iran took a large boost from the robust defense of the nation and the
Armed Forces during the 8 years Sacred Defense.
"The Islamic System even at time when it was enduring an imposed
military aggression by Saddam and his supporters, never considered to
invade or occupy any other country," Ayatollah Khamenei said, adding that
the growing enhancement of the IRI Armed Forc es does not mean the country
seeks to monger wars.
"The aggressive policies of the world domineering powers must ring
alarm bells for all nations that they must boost their internal structure
and acquire necessary preparations," Ayatollah Khamenei alerted.
The Commander-in-Chief described the fiery tirades and threat-game of
the arrogance as sheer psy op, adding that the enemies would not dare
attack the great Iranian nation.
"Every one has realized that the enemies of the Iranian nation could
not dare attack the great Iranian nation because they know they would
enter a field which is impossible to leave," Ayatollah Khamenei said,
adding however that the Armed Forces must grow more and more powerful
irrespective of their inability.
Ayatollah Khamenei then made mention of the invasion of Iraq and
Afghanistan by the US aggressors, saying that the occupiers arrived in
Iraq carrying message of security and freedom, but the Iraqi people have
endured an otherwise situation in the past five years.
"The Iraqi people have endured the worst and most insecure conditions
in their life span because the identity of the superpowers is rooted in
impiety, occupation and insecurity," Ayatollah Khamenei said, adding that
the Islamic System has tracked the pitfall and thereby has adopted its
current firm stance towards the superpower.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the US President George Bush's spell in office
had been the most insecure part of the contemporary history.
"Bush would leave office in a few months and would transfer the
outcomes of his moves to his successor. However, a dark blot is left by
him in the history and his dark dossier would remain open for provoking
insecurity in the world and inciting terrorism, occupation and criminal
conduct," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
Meanwhile, at the end of the ceremony, the elite platoons marched past
the stand of the Commander-in-Chief.

Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei encouraged Thursday that the status and
position of school teachers be restored in the society to what the Islamic
teachings consider so that the people pay true respect to the classroom
professionals.
In a speech to a thousands-strong audience of school teachers and
educationalists from the Fars province central Iran, the IR Leader marked
May 1, named after teachers in Iran, saying that the Teachers Day has a
great content to convey and could be described as day of all the Iranian
people in a broad sense.
Ayatollah Khamenei made a distinction between Islam's treatment of
teachers' status and that of the west, saying that in Islam's view,
education is equal to granting life to individuals and society while in a
materialistic approach the teachers are assessed by counting their
potentialities to generate money.
The IR Leader bemoaned that the western mindset came to vogue after the
western culture penetrated the Iranian community in the course of past two
centuries, cutting on the true merits of teachers in the eyes of the
public.
Ayatollah Khamenei instructed the relevant authorities to meet the
material expectations of the teachers community, adding however that the
teachers should be treated according to what Islam orders; paying ultimate
homage to them and having immanent respect for them.
Invoking verses from the Holy Koran and words of the Imams, Ayatollah
Khamenei said that the ultimate goal of education was to train soul of the
mankind and guide the people in the Straight Path which leads to salvation.
"Imam Khomeini as a professional interpreter of Koran considered the
job as that of the Divine Messengers," the IR Leader added.
Ayatollah Khamenei also urged the teachers to observe educational
standards and spiritual attitude in their classes, adding that the
teachers would score a brilliant performance if they exercise tolerance
and homage towards their trainees and properly grow their minds.
Ayatollah Khamenei then said that an overhaul was essential for the
country's educational structure, noting that the current system of
education in the country is at best a replication of western methodology
and content. The IR Leader urged the educational authorities to develop a
well-thought and vigorous educational system for the posterity by
assistance of schooling experts.
Ayatollah Khamenei singled out rote learning as a pitfall in the
national educational system, adding that to pave the ground for emergence
of talents the educational system must adopt a thought-generative approach.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that schooling system was more significant and
imperative for the country compared to higher education as the country
among others offers many vacancies which have no relevance to tertiary
training.
Ayatollah Khamenei also urged for the establishment of a department
dedicated to spiritual matters in schools with the aim of tending to the
souls of school kids.
The IR Leader said that it was essential for all children in school age
to become literate and called for a timetabled program to spread literacy
all over the country.
"We must reach a point where it is mandatory for all individuals to
possess primary school certificate as it is the case for Identification
Card," the IR Leader encouraged.
In another regard, Ayatollah Khamenei said that there was no religious
hindrance to using foreign know-how, however "we would choose what serves
our interests and would not let the aliens to feed our minds with its own
preoccupations."
The IR Leader described the Iranian young generation as abundant in
talents and said that thanks to the Iranian nation's continued allegiance
with Imam Khomeini and the revolution, the ebullient youths of the nation
will accomplish great works of which nuclear energy generation was a
simple case.
"20 years ago, if someone bothered speaking about centrifuge
manufacturing and uranium enrichment in Iran, no one would believe him.
However, the talented Iranian youths has now scored such an innovative
performance that all nations are appreciating it for its lively interest
in the science and its efforts to restore its related rights," Ayatollah
Khamenei said.
"This is the true meaning of innovation and the exact evidence of
potentialities of the great Iranian nation," Ayatollah Khamenei added
