Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, Leader of the Islamic Revolution told a
large group of Alims (Islamic scholars) in Shiraz central Iran Wednesday
evening that the Iranian Alims bore heavy duties regarding the spiritual
goals of the Islamic Republic.
Ayatollah Khamenei elaborated by saying that nations would achieve
genuine security under the two factors of sovereignty and spirituality and
that the Islamic Republic which represents a model of faith-inspired
government must enjoy both.
"Today, the scope of influence of the Alims is no longer confined to
small-scale scholarly circles rather they have hoisted the flag of
spirituality at present, bringing many concerns and responsibilities for
them in this regard," Ayatollah Khamenei added.
Ayatollah Khamenei noted the Alims that to meet their religious duties,
they must primarily tend to their souls, adding that impious individuals
would fail to guide others.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that it was also essential for Alims to acquire
a good command of religious teachings and in this he commemorated the
memory of great Shii philosopher Morteza Motahhari, saying that any young
Iranian is expected to study his works.
The Islamic Revolution Leader urged the Alims to enhance their ability
of conceptual reasoning, adding that excommunication, slander or
infuriation provide no solution to counter the present-time campaigns to
deviate nations through philosophical stuff rather they must be handled
through religious reasoning and wisdom.
In the same regard, Ayatollah Khamenei urged the Alims to acquire
state-of-the-art logic which among others requires one to develop insight
into the mindset of any potential audience.
Ayatollah Khamenei also urged the Alims to acquire a precise knowledge
about different domestic or foreign political affiliations, adding that an
aware Alim must be able to specify what factors would mislead or guide
human being.
The IR Leader said the policies exercised by the superpowers are
precursor to corruption and bloodshed in the world.
"The Islamic Republic has hoisted flag against those policies,
triggering the arrogance front to accost it hard," the IR Leader said.
Ayatollah Khamenei criticized those who assume due to their weakness
that by distancing the principles, one could provide mindful solution to
the problems, adding that it was recommendable for the nation to follow
model of Islam to declare its goals bravely and march towards them
sagaciously

Ali Khamenei said on Wednesday that the Iranian nation is determined to
resist any threat or sanctions. Ayatollah Khamenei made the remark in an
address to thousands of enthusiastic people in Shiraz who had gathered to
welcome their aramount Leader on Wednesday. The Iranian nation will turn
all threats imposed by the enemies to opportunities and bring development
and pride for the country, said the Supreme Leader. Ayatollah Khamenei
said that pious Iranian nation with reliance on their historical and
cultural honors have made the Islamic Revolution victorious in Iran and
attained their independence, national dignity, welfare and prosperity. Any
nation should tolerate difficulties to attain its prime goals, and
aspirations, underlined the Supreme Leader, citing eight years of sacred
defence, fight against terrorism, resistance against threats as well as
economic sanctions as parts of hardships tolerated by the Iranian nation
on their right path. The Iranian nation from early stages of the Islamic
Revolution faced economic sanctions and embargoes but with reliance on its
invaluable power managed to turn all th threats into opportunities and
attained independence and self-confidence. Therefore, "I advise you to
keep in your mind that this great nation is never afraid of economic
sanctions." The international capitalist system through extensive
political propaganda did their best to force Iran to abandon its
legitimate rights to benefit from nuclear energy but to no avail, said the
Supreme Leader, adding that the pace of Iran's development frightened them
to an extent that they exerted more pressure on Iran while ignoring the
fact that the Iranian nation will turn all these threats into
opportunities for its development. Foreign media try to bring take
advantage of all factors even natural disasters, draught and price hikes
which are rampant throughout the world in order to put more pressure on
the Iranian nation and officials and therefore it is necessary that people
exercise more vigilance, said Ayatollah Khamenei. The Supreme Leader said
that the ongoing economic crisis which has crippled the world has been
unprecedented in the past 60 years. This crisis has forced the UN to
declare state of emergency for food shortages around the globe but foreign
radios have focused on Iran to imply that the current price hikes and
inflation in the country are the results of carelessness on the part of
Iranian officials which of course is not true, he said. Thanks to Almighty
God, existing problems in Iran are much less than those in other countries,
underlined Ayatollah Khamenei. "Enemies try to magnify our problems and
this will be resolved through a timely and precise economic plan," said
the Supreme Leader. Current problems such as drought requires collective
attention of people and officials on the issue, Ayatollah Khamenei
reiterated.

Iranians to take part in elections Tehran
25.4.2008 IRNA - Dropping his vote into the ballot box no. 110 at Imam
Khomeini Hosseinieh Mosque, Ayatollah Khamenei called for high public turn
out in the second phase of the elections and said the run-off stage is as
important as the first round which was held nationwide on March 14.
"The second phase has no difference with the first one in terms of
significance. The same motivation, sensitivity and spirit of
responsibility, which dragged us to the polling stations, call on us to
come forward this time too and cast our vote into the ballot boxes," said
the Supreme Leader.
Iran's Supreme Leader hoped that a competent and powerful Majlis will
be formed in light of today's polling.
Supreme Leader Meets with
Iranian Army Commanders
16.3.2008 - On
the eve of the Army Day, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution
received a group of high-ranking army commanders on Wednesday, April 16.
In this meeting, which was attended by Major General Salehi, His
Eminence congratulated all army members and their families on this
occasion. Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the Army's spirit of
religiousness, faith and reliance on Allah and said that the duty of the
Armed Forces is to defend the country in all conditions and that the army
must always be in a state of constant readiness.

The sad and sorrowful event at the 'Rahpouyan-e Vesal' centre which led
to the martyrdom-like demise of a group of people spiritually devoted to
God as well as some other casualties rendered me stricken with grief. I
should offer relief to those who suffered losses and were bereaved due to
this sad event by assuring them of God's reward to the long-suffering. "God
the exalted will bestow His mercy and blessings upon them."
I pray to Allah the Exalted to provide the grief-stricken hearts with
serenity and fortitude, and bestow his mercy and benevolence on our dear
ones who died in the incident. I also pray to Allah the Exalted to aid the
immediate recovery of those who were wounded in the accident. I should
also demand the authorities to carry out their responsibilities in regard
to the incident with the required precision and pace. Greetings be upon
God's pious servants
