7th Majlis mirrors public
interest in Islamic and revolutionary values
29.5.2007
Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei Tuesday hailed
the seventh parliament for its adherence to the Islamic principles and the
revolutionary values and urged the deputies of the parliament to stay the
course.
"This tenure of the parliament has been outstanding in that it has
heeded the problems of the people, the feeble in particular, has kept a
principle, logical and open stance against hegemony in international
affairs, not least the nuclear issue and finally has coordinated move with
the principles-woven administration," Ayatollah Khamenei told a
parliamentary audience, urging the lawmakers to stay the course firmly
during the remaining one-year period of their tenure while taking into
consideration the country's interests.
The IR Leader thanked the speaker and the deputies of the seventh
parliament and described its 3-year performance as good.
Ayatollah Khamenei reminded the conditions in the runup to the
formation of the seventh Majlis (parliament), saying, "The seventh Majlis
was formed under the conditions in which some negligent people were
raising contentious matters against the platform of the Islamic System.
Faced with such an improper atmosphere, however, the people opted for this
Majlis unlike the will of those who were bent on annihilating the
principles and values of Islam and the revolution. This proves their
heartfelt love and interest in the Islamic principles and the revolution's
values."
Ayatollah Khamenei described the seventh parliamentary ballot as a
sensitive juncture in the country's history, adding that the seventh
Majlis was established around such an identity which brought it
significant privileges during its past three years of seat.
As one of those merits, the IR Leader highlighted the parliament's
attention to the feeble and underprivileged class.
Ayatollah Khamenei added that the seventh Majlis performed
outstandingly in its efforts to provide the executive ratifications for
the general policies of the article 44 of the Constitution which were
instructed by the honorable months ago and which stipulate involvement
ofthe public in running the economy. Ayatollah Khamenei urged the
lawmakers to pay due regard to the special parliamentary commission set up
to that effect until they enshrine those general policies in a set of
solid, strong, and lasting laws.
The Leader of Islamic Revolution also highlighted the resolute stance
of the seventh parliament towards the international issues and the world
hegemony.
"The logic of the Islamic System against America's bullying and
dominance-seeking policies is a reasoned one and has won the approval of
the world Muslims and free nations because the Iranian nation does not
wish to see an aggressive, insolent and disrespectful power encroaching on
its resources or setting duties for their country," Ayatollah Khamenei
added.
"The seventh Majlis from the sublime stand of a constitutional council
stated the idea of the Iranian nation regarding different issues openly
and rationally. This is very invaluable," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
Ayatollah Khamenei also hailed the seventh parliament for avoiding
matters of contention, adding that the parliament's position on nuclear
issue and it obligating of the already-wishful administration to persevere
on the national rights was actually a follow up to the country's future
interests and so shall be marked as positive.
Ayatollah Khamenei described the ongoing Parliament-Administration
coordination as point of blessing in the seventh Majlis, adding that the
lawmakers are expected to support the Administration and not allow such an
administration which believes in the principles of the Islamic Revolution
and exerts ultimate efforts to serve people, to be undermined.
In the same regard, Ayatollah Khamenei said such coordination arises
from a principal interest-based view, adding that the issue does not
require one to avoid criticism. "However, criticism too must be sincere so
that besides the weak points, the strong points are made clear in order to
fend off personal or partisan presuppositions," the IR Leader noted.
Ayatollah Khamenei noted that Majlis' coordination with the
administration faces both opponents and proponents. "They (opponents)
comment that the administration and the Majlis have been unified. However,
the parliament was formed out of popular choice and the president too has
been elected by the people. Moreover, the unison of Majlis and the
administration is not a demerit but a privilege because the two powers can
jointly follow common goals through cooperation," the IR Leader said.
The Leader of Islamic Revolution told the lawmakers that the final year
of their tenure hosts a Divine test, adding that during their remaining
year of service, they must attend to the basic priorities and immediate
needs of the country void of any partisan, sectarian or local look.
Ayatollah Khamenei urged the deputies of the parliament to mind their
remarks to avoid sending the enemy a wrong signal.
The IR Leader also called on the lawmakers to take into account issues
of consideration in their analysis of the situation, saying, "Certain
issues whose contrariety with the Constitution is apparent from the very
start must not be pursued because they trigger waste of time in the
parliament. The parliamentary time must not be spent on trivial minutes of
executive matters either."
Ayatollah Khamenei reminded the audience of the categorical order of
Islam to Muslims to assess their personal and collective performances,
adding that the practice will modify weaknesses while the strong points of
performance will boost their resolves to keep on the path.

the Iranian forces in 1981.
During the 4-hour visit, the Commander-in-Chief was briefed on the

namely in aerospace, missile technology, maritime and aerial defense,
electronic, laser and optical warfare, armor and anti-armor equipments,

performance of the ministry.
Earlier, Ayatollah Khamenei stood in homage before the martyr monument
in the premises of Shahid Mahallati Industry Group complex, the expo's
venue, reciting the opening Sura of the holy Koran in their commemoration.
The IR Leader then spoke to a group of senior commanders of the armed
forces as well as the ministerial officials, praising the level of
progress in the defensive and logistical sectors, adding however that the
achievements just cater to the country's historical backward trend and the
nation must not content itself with the size of progress.
Ayatollah Khamenei called for innovative and unprecedented projects in
the ministry, saying, "The boundaries of science must be lifted. Iranians
have proved they can."
Ayatollah Khamenei said research constitutes the route to scientific
progress, adding that all the academic, producing, industrial and
defensive sectors in the country must take research seriously, at the same
time recruit young talents and avoid any limit in their research or
recruit efforts.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution underlined quality in different
sectors, especially in defense industry.
Ayatollah Khamenei led a noon and evening congregational prayers at the
end of visit.
Ayatollah Khamenei also delivered a short speech to the ministerial
staff in which the honorable commemorated the anniversary of the
liberation of Khorramshahr, adding that the essence of the liberation
stands as key to the current-time progress in different fields in the
country, especially in defense.
"Today, one could witness an exuberant drive and firm resolve to keep
the path of progress in different fields in the country. The future of the
Iranian nation is bright," Ayatollah Khamenei added
Tehran, May 21, IRNA
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei
said on Monday that the spirit of Basij (volunteer forces) is the key for
strengthening of the Iranian people and their resolve to make progress.
In a meeting with several thousands of student members of Basij, the
Supreme Leader said that the Basij is example of strong determination and
initiatives for standing up to the hegemonic powers.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that services rendered by the Basij members to
the Iranian nation in the course of Iraqi-imposed war (1980-1988) have
encouraged political awareness among the developing nations.
The Supreme Leader said that the Basij students are symbol of bravery,
because while learning science at the academic centers, they also think
about defending the Islamic Revolution, citing membership of the volunteer
forces in the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).
The IRGC served as the command council of 20 million Basij forces
during the eight-year US-backed imposed war on Iran.
The Supreme Leader said that the Basij has made great achievements in
the field of defense of the national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Ayatollah Khamenei recommended the students to focus on theoretical
studies and develop theses away from political affiliations to deal with
problems of the nation.

IRI will keep solid
towards America
16.5.2007
Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei Tuesday
underlined the role of Alims (Islamic leaders) in society, adding that
during the last two centuries, the Rohaniyat (community of Iranian
religious leaders) has been keeping the leading role in the national
combat against colonialism.
Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in a speech to an audience of
prominent Alims and Islamic jurisprudence students Tuesday in the
northeast Iranian pilgrimage city of Mashhad.
The IR Leader reminded the audience of a barrage of enmities against
the values which Imam Khomeini, the departed and the Islamic Revolution
had estblished in the course of the past 27 years.
"In spite of all these ill-wills, presently the values of revolution
and Imam the departed stands as the last word and popular stance in
society and the Administration openly takes pride in them," Ayatollah
Khamenei said.
In the same regard, Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to a sense of joy on the
part of some domestic parties after IRI agreed talks with America, blaming
their joy on their supposition that the country had distance itself from
the said values.
"Those who suppose the Islamic Republic of Iran may change its solid,
logical and thoroughly defensible policy of not having talks or ties with
America are gravely mistaken," Ayatollah Khamenei affirmed.
"How could one talk with an arrogant, bullying, expansionist and
colonizing American government especially in tenure of its current rude,
disrespectful and insolent authorities?" the Leader of Islamic Revolution
said.
Concerning prospective talks between representatives of Iran and
America about Iraq, Ayatollah Khamenei declared, "since America, as
occupying government, has flouted its obligations to restore security in
Iraq and even has folded the hand of Iraqi government, tries to make it
topple and supports terrorists, the (Iranian) Foreign Ministry at the call
of the Iraqi government approved to remind the Americans of their duties
regarding Iraqi security in a face-to-face talk and so have it take its
final chance."
"This talk is in fact a talk scheduled to be held early last year where
Americans dragged feet. However, this time they have submitted a written
request for the talk," Ayatollah Khamenei added.
"They (Americans) say they will not talk about any other issues except
Iraq. And we tell them even the Iraqi issue does not concern you and the
talks are only over the duty of the occupiers about the security of Iraq,"
the IR Leader underlined.
Ayatollah Khamenei confirmed that the I. R. of Iran's policy of no-talk,
no-ties would remain the same as long as the arrogant government refuses
to change its policies.
The IR Leader also made some remarks about the obligations and position
of Islamic Alims where the honorable hailed the undertaking as a follow-up
to the position of the Divine Messengers and thereby bearing a great honor
for the Rohaniyat.
"Their responsibility is indeed parallel to that of the messengers,"
Ayatollah Khamenei said, urging the Islamic Alims to undertake those
obligations namely to establish justice in society whatever difficulties
they face.
Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that at present the most important duty
of Rohaniyat and jurisprudence schools is to identify needs of time, equip
themselves with modern scientific means and strong reasoning, preserve
independence, keep a close contact with masses, improve their political
understanding, keep alert to menaces and combat against deviation and
superstition
Supreme Leader's Remarks
Regarding Iran-US Negotiations over Iraq
May 16, 2007
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali
Khamenei, has ruled out direct talks with the current US Administration,
stressing on Wednesday 16 May that those who think there has been a change
in Iran's perfectly logical, and one hundred percent defensible policy of
avoiding direct talks with the current US administration are very much
mistaken.
Addressing a large gathering in the holy city of Mashhad in North
eastern Iran, the Supreme Leader reminded the audience that "Iran's policy
of avoiding direct contact and negotiations (talks) with the current US
administration will remain in force so long as the US government refuses
to change its domineering policies and behaviour."
The Supreme Leader's remark's on Wednesday were an unequivocal and
direct reply to recent claims and threats by US officials against the
Islamic republic of Iran.
Following the announcement by Iran's foreign ministry that Iran was
prepared to take part in talks with US officials over Iraq, senior Bush
administration official including Vice President Dick Cheney, US secretary
of state, Condoleezza Rice, and Rice's deputy, John Bolton, and White
House spokesman, Tony Snow all emphasized that US talks with Iran were
limited to the issue of Iraq and did not affect all the other disputes (bones
of contention) between Tehran and Washington.
Initial reports in the US media suggested that perhaps the
much-trumpeted talks between Iran and the US over Iraq might pave the way
for discussions over other bones of contention between Tehran and
Washington. Then senior Bush administration officials, in a calculated
move, let it be known that Tehran-Washington talks will be limited to the
issue of Iraq, trying to portray America as having the upper hand in the
discussions.
But the truth is that America is sinking in an ever-deepening quagmire
in Iraq, ensnared (caught) in a trap of its own making, and in order to
conceal the abject failure of their policies in Iraq, they want to shift
attention onto a number of peripheral issues.
As the Supreme Leader emphasized on Wednesday, the Americans should be
reminded during the talks that as an occupying military power, the United
States has the responsibility of stopping the bloodbath in Iraq and
restoring security in that country. The Supreme Leader stressed that the
Americans want to portray the elected Iraqi government as incompetent and
dysfunctional, even trying to bring about its downfall.
It is for this reason that Iran's foreign ministry , at the behest of
the Iraqi government, decided to take part in direct talks with the US,
reminding the Americans of their responsibilities as an occupying power in
Iraq, and serving them a final notice, so to speak.
Comments by US officials that talks with Iran will only be limited to
the issue of Iraq are meant to suggest that the Iranians want to extend
the talks to include other issues; thus portraying America as being in a
position of power.
But in all the years since the victory of the Islamic revolution, Iran
has never strayed from the ideals of the late founder of the Islamic
republic, Imam Khomeini (May his Soul Rest in Peace), and even today, Iran
firmly believes that so long as there is no fundamental change in
America's domineering and bullying policies, any talks between Tehran and
Washington are bound to be a waste of time (futile and will lead nowhere).
9.5.2007
Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei eulogized the
Iranian younger population as a faithful, exuberant, hopeful, gifted,
confident and creative generation urging it to realize that at such a
sensitive time in the Iranian history as today in which the great nation
of Iran has set for the scientific and prosperous apexes, the generation
bears the principal responsibility to architect the immense construction
of the nation's civilization.
To a huge audience of the members of School Islamic Associations,
Ayatollah Khamenei deplored the dark era of the toppled regime of Pahlavid
oppressors in which the Iranian nation was barred from the global
progressive trend.
"At that trying era, some prominent personalities who enjoyed awakened
consciences helped awaken the young generation and stage Islamic movement
by their alert moves until Imam Khomeini (God bless him) could bring a
large transformation in the foundation of the country by fielding the
young generation," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
Ayatollah Khamenei underlined a lack of enthusiasm on the part of the
world's people especially in West towards material values accompanied by
the international super powers' efforts to bar human being from the track
of spirituality.
"In such a world, the Iranian nation, enjoying both spiritual and
material wealth no least ample young talents, has held the flag of
spirituality, declaring its wish to help human being to reach prosperity,
happiness, welfare, security and independence under the auspices of
spirituality and having proved it could."
"The drive mars the tenets of the world of West and throws gauntlet at
the global hegemony," Ayatollah Khamenei said, adding that for the same
reason the world superpowers are trying to prevent the Iranian nation from
moving ahead through conspiring political or economic ploys, nevertheless
the nation will keep it up through its insurmountable resolve.
Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted the role of the youths in the prosperous
national drive and alerted that the enemies focus all their efforts on
sullying faith and confidence in the youth to spoil the faithful,
vivacious, innovative and exuberant force into slackers.
"Despite all these efforts ensued by few losses, the gains have been
ample in recent years so that the country's younger community has come to
form a living and faithful society," the IR Leader added however.
Ayatollah Khamenei underscored the prominence of the responsibility of
the associations, saying that their members, besides their duty as young
members of the progressive society, must act guide to their deviating or
aimless peers and to that effect they must improve their faith and morals.
The IR Leader pointed out that for the younger generation, education,
morality and sport constitute the three axial elements of success, adding,
"by connecting to God, saying attentive prayers, fostering religious
insight, exercising good behavior, respecting the parents and their orders,
practicing a responsible conduct, making scientific effort, improving
wisdom, joining collective drives to serve the people and making physical
activities, one could secure a humane identity during the youth time which
is the golden time of life and collect lasting provisions for the life and
subsequently after-death stage where the genuine life begins."
Ayatollah Khamenei stated that the country belongs to the youths and
affirmed that the Iranian young generation will indeed enjoy a marvelous
world in a not-so-distant future which follows their current time efforts

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei told a visiting
Tajikistan's President Sunday morning that by their broadened mutual
relations, the three Persian-speaking countries of Asia could foster their
domestic capabilities.
Ayatollah Khamenei underscored profound cultural and historical bonds
between the three Persian-speaking nations of Iran and Tajikistan and
Afghanistan, adding that the intrinsic abilities of each nation provide
the key to its progress and grandeur.
"Those countries which have in common a broad ground of religious,
cultural and civilization history can foster their intrinsic strength by
show of solidarity to each other," Ayatollah Khamenei urged Imomali
Rakhman.
Ayatollah Khamenei described the true religion of Islam as source of
unity in hand of Islamic Countries, adding that should Islamic unity takes
place, the Islamic umma will be introduced to an immense capability inside
to realize progress and development and promote their global status.
The IR Leader hailed ample grounds at hand to expand Iran-Tajikistan
relations. "Tajikistan is an inseparable part of the Iranian culture and
as a principle policy the Islamic Republic of Iran seeks to promote
relations with the friend and brotherly nation of Tajikistan," Ayatollah
Khamenei affirmed.
Tajikistan's President for his part applauded a progressive, burgeoning
I.R. of Iran as source of pride for all the Islamic nations.
"Enemies of Islam and the Islamic Republic are not willing to see the
expanding levels of ties between Iran and the regional countries or the
world of Islam, nevertheless, Iran's unity-inspiring policies besides its
progress has become source of pride and opportunities for the region and
the whole world of Islam," Rakhman said.
The visiting president expressed gratitude and pleasure for the widened
investment by the Iranian nationals in his country, saying that should the
treble Persian speakers connect via railway, huge resources will flow to
Central Asia and even China through access to Persian Gulf and further
ahead to high seas.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was also attending the meeting.
Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei Wednesday
praised teaching occupation
2.5.2007
Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei Wednesday
praised teaching occupation as so sublime a reality work better fitting
the All-Majesty and His Messengers.
Ayatollah Khamenei noted an unparalleled role of teachers in making the
destiny of nation and country, saying that the skillful, diligent and
dedicated teachers play such a part in progress and perfection of society
much more invaluable than converting earth to gold.
Ayatollah Khamenei delivered the eulogy to a huge gathering of teachers
who had thronged to mark the twelfth day of Ordi Behesht, the second month
of the Iranian calendar, named after teachers following the assassination
of the illustrious Iranian philosopher, Shahid Morteza Motahhari.
Ayatollah Khamenei likened teaching job to inflaming the life-giving
light of guidance and knowledge in the heart and soul of human being.
Ayatollah Khamenei then recounted the works of the prolific philosopher,
saying," every and each of his precious, advised and well-thought works
which was actually born through his position as a teacher, remains to be
an ever-illuminant light in the mind and heart of society, hence the
highly vital and great status of teaching in its general sense."
The IR Leader applauded job of teaching with the Ministry of Education
as an exemplar of the occupation overall, adding that the exceptional role
of teachers with the ministry ranks higher than other types of teachers in
the lifespan of every individual, even than parents or scientists.
Ayatollah Khamenei linked the special quality to the exceptional role
of education in forming both the individuals and society, adding that
every person of society in his or her golden time of learning, that is to
say from primary school until university, boards a large workshop or a
public quarantine whose main role-players are teachers and for the same
reason teaching is a veritably noble and great job.
Ayatollah Khamenei went on to add that every nation dreams of an
independent, talented, moralized, virtuous, valiant, prudent and hard
working society which is also open to criticism, follows law and pursues
spiritual aspirations.
"The great dream is credited with work and effort of the teachers and
thereby job of teaching has found a marvelous position in the mind of
human community," Ayatollah Khamenei praised.
The Leader of Islamic Revolution placed a larger significance on
Education Ministry than on other governmental bodies, adding that in the
Islamic System paying homage to teachers is none of flattering rather it
is a reality whose origin lies in the noble status of teaching.
Ayatollah Khamenei noted that all the people not least parents and
authorities are obliged to honor the teachers, adding however that the
hard working teachers nationwide must live up to their sensitive position
ahead of any other individual and notice that even though teaching job,
like in any other occupation, is a way to provide for a life, the teachers
must substantially dedicate to a great mission whom are assigned with
namely to make a bright future for society and country.
Ayatollah Khamenei assessed the performance of the Ministry of
Education as good, but added that the authorities with the ministry are
expected to apply the judicious and intellectual individuals within their
own ministry to launch an evolutionary drive to sort out educational
environment and content until the association dwells on a bright future
under the auspices of faith, dedication and devotion.
Ayatollah Khamenei extolled the national teacher community as charming,
virtuous, dedicated, diligent, and patient, urging the community to be
wary of enemy efforts aimed to divert key bodies within the society.
"As stated in the New Year day statement, enemies of the Iranian nation
pursue treble goals of hindering scientific progress, demoting economic
status, and sowing discord in the united ranks of people," Ayatollah
Khamenei cautioned, adding that the teachers due to sensitivity of their
job constitute a target in the plot much the same as in the past 27 years.
"Nonetheless, they have been standing like mountains in the face of
waves of pressure and conspiracies," Ayatollah Khamenei affirmed.
Ayatollah Khamenei singled out an advancing trend in the country in
terms of scientific, political, economic and defensive progress, adding
though the world's dictators, scared by the ever-increasing progress of
Iran and a tangible positive response on the part of the Muslim nations
toward the spiritual and cause-oriented approach of the Islamic Revolution
have employed all efforts and facilities at hand to stop the Iranian
nation.
"However, the Iranian nation, by depending on wisdom, bravery, and
collective responsibility and by relying on God will continue to tread the
prideful path," Ayatollah Khamenei reaffirmed
