Iran-Supreme Leader-War Veterans
Supreme leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei
received here Saturday a group of military commanders and war veterans of
the imposed war.
In the meeting, a number of participants talked about their memoirs in
those days.
Ayatollah Khamenei said during the eight-year war, Iranians showed that
they never want to invade other lands, but in defending their national
identity and ideals, they are a model for the whole world.
The supreme leader called the 8-year imposed war a" defensive and
unequal war," in which all powers in the east and west stood against Iran
in different political, military, economic and propaganda fronts.
The ayatollah also called the end of the war honorable, and criticized
some baseless arguments about termination of the war and pointed out, "undoubtedly
Iran was the sole winner of the imposed war, because Saddam's regime with
the whole support of many countries invaded Iran to overthrow the Islamic
system and disintegrate the country, but at the end of the war they left
the country with empty hands, high human loss and a great deal of damage,
while Iranians, achieved high potentials."
Concerning artistic and literary works on memoirs of the war period,
the supreme leader stressed the work that has been done is not adequate,
because this period of Iran's history is so sensitive and historic.
Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei received a group
of top university students Tuesday and listened to the remarks of 13
candidate speakers about the national and academic affairs.
Ayatollah Khamenei underlined efforts to deepen religious thinking and
called it a core principle of the Islamic System, adding the Islamic
Republic in light of religious thinking, has set it a goal to revive
spirituality as the lost element from human life besides efforts to
resolve material questions.
Ayatollah Khamenei said because of the same approach, the Islamic
System has been challenged by the world tyrants and bullies, vowing
however that it will continue to take step in the path of the goal despite
all the oppositions.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the pace of growth of burgeoning
revolutionary forces has outpaced their withering and underscored the role
of the youth in progress of the system. "Revolutionary aspirations will
grow across the world naturally and the Islamic System more and more wins
sympathy and intellectual support of nations day by day," the IR Leader
said.
The IR Leader described the prospects of the Islamic Revolution as
bright, adding no doubt the significance of the Islamic Republic of Iran
in international equations will reach a fateful point to gain which goal a
zealous, lively, industrious and faithful young generation that relies on
Islamic teachings is a condition.
Supreme Leader: Resistance
the only path to victory
Tehran, Oct 13, IRNA
Iran-S Leader-Lebanon
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali
Khamenei said here Friday that resistance is the only path to victory.
"There is no other way, even if the resisting group is a small group,
even if the group they stand against is a first grade army and is
supported by the US," said the Leader addressing worshipers in his sermons
at Tehran's Friday prayers.
"Resistance is key to victory," said the ayatollah adding, "Those who
resist should not be scared of its dangers," he said.
If a nation who intends to stand up (against tyrannies) is not scared
of and disturbed by absence of comfort and pleasures of life, its
resistance would bring about victory, said the Supreme Leader.
The Leader said the developments in Lebanon served as a lesson for all
Muslims.
"You should know that after the events in Lebanon, the state of affairs
has changed in the region but its repercussions may not be visible so soon."
The Leader warned that those defeated in this incident are not and will
not be sitting idly.
"The case is not over yet. They are trying to cope with the scopes of
this defeat because the blow dealt on them was heavy," said Ayatollah
Khamenei.
The blow, said the Leader, was dealt on the fake government of Israel.
The strength of this government comes from its army, said the Leader
adding, people should trust the army.
"What was disgraced in this war was the Israeli army. It was defeated
by a small group of militia with limited equipment." "It was a huge
failure and the US and Zionists are trying to make up for it," said the
Leader.
"We should be vigilant against what is being masterminded against
Muslim governments and nations," said Ayatollah Khamenei.
They intend to weaken the Hezbollah in Lebanon. "From political point
of view, they intend to weaken the Hezbollah to prevent it from getting
stronger."
Another scheme, the Ayatollah said, is about the UN troops who have
converged there from different countries and are assigned to support the
Lebanese people in the face of foreign aggression.
There is concern that the mission of these forces would be changed and
they would be forced to stand against the Hezbollah which is the powerful
and living force of Lebanon.
Turning to the 33-day war in Lebanon, the Leader said nations witnessed
once again after the victory of the Islamic Revolution that there is no
path towards victory and salvation but through resistance against tyrants
and aggressors.
The Leader said the developments in Lebanon were not something ordinary.
"The 33-day war in Lebanon was a historic phenomenon. It has had no
precedence in the entire region. The enemies of Muslim nations, too, did
not expect such a thing..."
Today Hezbollah and the leader of Hezbollah are among the most favored
names among nations in the world of Islam, he noted.
Hezbollah members are among the most popular people and this indicates
that the world of Islam considers itself victorious in this war, Ayatollah
Khamenei said.
"The US was also defeated in this war," said the Leader adding, "It is
evident that they have dependents in the region who are considered among
the defeated, too."

new era of Persian poetry
2006/10/09
On the eve of the anniversary of the birth of the second Shiite Imam,
Imam Hassan (A.S.), a poem ceremony was staged in the presence of the
Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei Monday in which a
group of Iranian poets read out their works with religious and political
themes.
Following the poetical function, Ayatollah Khamenei said poetry had
seen a growing trend following the 1979 Islamic Revolution, adding the
Iranian poets, especially young poets, must take the noble language of
poetry in a proper manner to infuse hope and liveliness into society as
well as their audience.
Ayatollah Khamenei commended poetical works on moral values, especially
martyrdom, jihad and the eight year Sacred Defense, urging creating an art
and poetical climate in society in which revolutionary causes are promoted
and people are encouraged to make for backwardness through unflagging

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei Thursday to raise
different academic issues with him.
The 3 hour meeting saw 15 professors laying out their ideas, mainly as
urgency of capitalization on material and spiritual matters in university
and further promotion of human science as basis for other sciences,
promotion of scientific and research infrastructure and drawing national
comprehensive scientific map, institutionalization of research trend in

scientific production movement, software movement and theory making in
basics sciences, balancing quantity and quality of the country's
scientific drive, provision of a strategic plan for different scientific
centers in light of the 20 Year Vision, special investment in new
technology, fielding younger talents in less touched schemes like stem
cells, spinal injuries treatment and animal cloning, quality promotion of
universities until world higher grades are achieved, and fostering Persian
literature in home and abroad.
Ayatollah Khamenei in his remarks to the elite audience noted that the
meeting aims to honor knowledge and men of knowledge that helps promote
knowledge and guarantee progress of the country.
Ayatollah Khamenei also described the gathering as a venue for
university professors and elites to raise different scientific and
academic matters and help related authorities as well as the general
public to become familiar with these matters.
"Despite newer research drives carried out in the recent decade in the
country, we are still in the beginning of the path of scientific progress
and should advance along the bright road unflaggingly," the IR Leader
urged.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that academic environment demands an
encouraging and hopeful language, adding Iran's present position in the
world fails to satisfy a Muslim Iranian who looks towards sublime and
bright prospects, but one must not forget that the scientific drive in the
country, especially in the recent years, has been among the world's
fastest leading to best achievements. The IR Leader urged continuing the
path with further speed.
Ayatollah Khamenei assured that it is possible to break past the
current levels of science to reach to the first position in the world in
the next 50 years' time, adding the invaluable objective calls for faith
in national ability and Iranian talent, utilization of capacities and
natural resources in the country and taking lessons from the past 27 years.
Outlining necessary properties to fulfill heavy duties of professors,
Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to scientific bravery, innovation, avoiding
emulative approach towards western advances, self-confidence, and hard
work. "The remedy to all the pains and problems in the country lies in
scientific progress," the IR Leader said.
Ayatollah Khamenei expressed delight that calls for scientific movement
have found resonance among student and academic figures, adding however
that despite prideful advances, urges to outpace present borderlines in
science have yet to become a serious demand in scientific circles.
"Taking new strides in science needs to cover the already covered path,
but the mind must not become deprived of search for untouched ways. Our
scientists must call to their mind what human being is still afar,"
Ayatollah Khamenei suggested.
The IR Leader furthermore urged rendering researches objective-oriented
and fitted for the country's demands, adding the system of academic
promotion must comply with factors like research priorities and
complimentary researches.
Ayatollah Khamenei called on professors to promote religion and
Islamic-Iranian identity in students, adding the Iranian young people must
take honor in their nationality and rely on their historical and cultural
legacy, besides taking pride in the present status of the Islamic Iran.
At the end of the cordial meeting, the participants performed
congregational prayers led by ayatollah Khamenei. They then broke their
fast.

"In Islam's view, rulers and governments exist just to serve people and
carry out works in the interest of the public and this is what God demands
us, as authorities, to fulfill," Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayed
Ali Khamenei told President Mahmoud Ahmadinjead and his administration
Sunday.
Quoting excerpts of Hazrat Ali's famous epistle to Malik Ashtar, his
renowned commander-in-chief, Ayatollah Khamenei laid out the duties of the
authorities of the Islamic System as love and in-heart affection for
people, saying contrary to the mindset of profiteers who sometimes have to
respect people out of expediency or to reassert their power, in Islam,
caring for people because of faith and humanity is a principle and
statesmen must treat possible failures of people mercifully and leniently.
Ayatollah Khamenei however drew a distinction between lenience towards
ordinary people and handling with law flouters and a particular
power-thirsty group, adding, the public interests are prioritized over
those of particular groups and condoning their wrong doings and
profiteering correspond to injustice and tyranny.
Meanwhile, at the end of the meeting Ayatollah Khamenei led
congregational prayers and the President and his cabinet members broke
fast alongside Ayatollah Khamenei.
