Supreme Leader: US ignites
ethnic, sectarian war in Iraq
Tehran, Feb 27, IRNA
Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said
here Monday that recent desecration of twin shrines in Iraqi city of
Samarra is an instance of Americans' attempt to ignite ethnic and
religious war in the country.
"Americans in Iraq are trying to fan ethnic and religious war, an
instance of which is the tragic Samarra incident," said Ayatollah Khamenei
in an address to Interior Minister Mostafa Pour-Mohammadi and governors
general.
The paramount Leader said the US is sowing seeds of discord and
creating insecurity in Iraq, in a bid to show the broad-based government
of Iraq is incompetent.
The Supreme Leader said incidents like that of Samarra and the
publication of sacrilegious cartoon by certain sections of western press
of holy Prophet of Islam Mohammad (PBUH) as some examples of such plots.
"They tried to materialize their own goals by inciting the sentiments
of Muslims but to no avail because the blasphemous cartoons increased the
Muslim world's hatred of global arrogance.
The Samarra incident too led to further unity of Shiites and Sunnis
both in Iraq and in many parts of the world of Islam," said the Supreme
Leader.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei called for Muslim world's
vigilance vis-a-vis enemy conspiracies.
He said the Iraqi government today is an example of the failure of the
US policies in the Middle East because contrary to Washington's attempts
to install a puppet regime there, an Islamic government has been formed in
that country.
"However, through vigilance of the Iraqi people and officials, their (Americans')
plots will be neutralized," added the Ayatollah.
The Supreme Leader said Iran's Islamic Revolution during its 27-year
life has been subjected to numerous challenges due to its refusal to bow
to hegemony and ambitions of world colonialist powers.
"The challenge between the Islamic system and world bullying powers
will continue until they are disheartened."
The Supreme Leader also called on officials to serve masses and try to
address their needs.

Leader's message on Sammara
tragedy
Tehran, Feb 22 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Sayed Ali Khamenei in a statement Wednesday expressed condolences over the
tragic profane made to the holy shrine of Shiite Imams, Imam Hadi (A.S.)
and Imam Hassan Asgari (A.S.) in Iraq, proclaiming a week of national
mourning. The statement reads as follows.
Bismillah-e Rahman-e Rahim
We Belong to Allah and We Shall Return to Him The felonious and bloody
hand of malevolent criminals created a large tragedy today and committed
another sin in aggressing religious sanctities. The reverent mausoleum of
Hazrat Imam Hadi and Imam Asgari, peace be upon them, became subject to
sacrilege and destruction leaving thereby an unbearable grief in the
hearts of Shiites and the overall Muslims who feel love for (Islam's
prophet) household, peace be upon them. The criminal act, whose
perpetrators are possibly chosen from among hardline bigots or ill-fated
and negligent mercenaries, has been planned by conspirators who have evil
and malicious intentions.
This is a political crime and one must find its root in the intelligent
bodies of Iraq's occupiers and the Zionists. Dominance-seeking powers, who
find Iraqi political and social situation contrary to their hegemonic aims,
are plotting in mind malicious ploys, including among others, to fan
insecurity and sow religious discords.
Today's criminal act in Sammara added another page to the black record
of Iraq's occupiers. The holy shrine of the Askariyin (the two Imams),
peace be upon them, will once again get back into full swing by the
zealous work of the lovers of the household, peace be upon them, God
willing. Nevertheless, the criminal act left a dark blot on the forehead
of Islam's enemies which may no be removed even for a long time.
I express my condolences for the tragic event to the reverent Prophet
of Islam, may Allah pray for him and his family, and to the lofty status
of the Baghiyat-Allah (the last Imam), may our souls be sacrificed to him,
as well as all Shiite population worldwide and all zealous and aware
Muslims who feel love for the pure household of God's prophet, peace be
upon him and them. I proclaim a week of public mourning in the country.
I consider it as necessary to plea for the mourners in Iran, Iraq and
other parts of the world to seriously refrain from any action which leads
in confrontation and enmity among Muslim brethren. Definitely, there are
hands behind which push Shiites to profane mosques and sacred places of
Sunni people. Any move in this regard will promote the intentions of
enemies of Islam and Muslim nations and is prohibited by the statute.
And Peace be to the righteous servants of Allah

Supreme Leader terms Hamas
election victory as a 'sweet surprise'
Tehran, Feb 20, IRNA
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei
said on Tuesday that victory of Hamas in parliamentary election of
Palestine was a sweet surprise and sign of God's promise coming true.
In a meeting with head of Hamas political bureau, Khaled Mashal, the
Supreme Leader said that Palestinian people and liberation fighters were
not disappointed when all the doors were closed to them.
"They continued their campaign and at last they saw that God's promises
come true one after the other. After liberation of Gaza, Hamas won a
landslide victory," the Supreme Leader said.
The Supreme Leader said that all these victories are results of
resistance to the occupation forces of the Zionist regime. On the other
hand, the Palestinian people showed that they are intelligent and
politically mature, because they knew that voting in favor of Hamas means
opting for resistance to the Zionist regime and campaign against
occupation.
In reference to Khaled Mashal's statement that Hamas would not
recognize the Zionist regime, nor would it talk with the usurper regime as
well as the requirement for repatriation of Palestinian refugees to the
state of Palestine with Holy Qods as its capital, the Supreme Leader said
that Hamas position is very principled and the only way for success.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Islamic governments and nations have
heavy responsibility towards the issue of Palestine and they are expected
to adopt a plan through which all the Muslims could make their
contributions to the Palestinians.
The Supreme Leader said that contribution of Muslims to Palestinians
would serve to boost their morale to stand against Israel's systematic
aggressions.
He called for national unity in Palestine and said that all political
parties are expected to mobilize their forces to proceed with national
aspirations and help remove difficulties of the people.
Khaled Mashal appreciated Iran's position on Palestine and said that
victory of Hamas belongs to all the Muslim nations and of course, Iran has
a share in this victory and "We congratulate Iranians on this victory."
"Victory of Hamas in the parliamentary election was divine blessing and
the Almighty's promise to save blood of the oppressed and reward the
martyrs with His blessings," Mashal said.

superiority through innovation." The leader said that efforts aimed at
monopolizing science are doomed to fail, and noted that "Iranians are a
greatly talented people." "They have proven their potential of reaching

glorious Bahman 22 rallies

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei
in a message lauded the glorious rallies of the Iranian nation on Bahman
22 (February 11) and appreciated people from all walks of life and
political tendencies who took part in the demonstrations. In his message,
Ayatollah Khamenei said that people's move on the 27th anniversary of the
victory of Islamic Revolution displayed the height of the efforts and
consciousness of a free, independent and dynamic nation to the world.
Those loyal to the dynamic and progressive Islamic ruling system coming
from all walks of life with various tastes and political beliefs attempted
to manifest the authority of this great deep-rooted nation to the world
hegemony and stress their superior goals and ideals.
The Supreme Leader said that President Ahmadinejad's remarks, which
reflected people's feelings, once more proved the mental and heart-felt
interconnection between the nation and government. "I would like to thank
God Almighty for leading and blessing this country and nation and every
individual Iranian. We should be thankful for the current unity,
persistence, consciousness and participation of people and attempt to make
optimum use of such potentials to create national honors," concluded the
message.
Tehran, Feb 7 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution likened Iran's
Islamic Revolution to the Ashura movement early on Islam for its ability
to awaken people and inspire them to move in the path of dignity and
national independence.
Speaking to commanders and personnel of the Iranian army's air force,
Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei underlined that the Iranian nation will move
steadfastly in the path of dignity, national sovereignty and independence
with power, patience, and prudence, unfazed with threats of any kind.
The meeting was held in commemoration of the historic allegiance the
then army's Air Force young officers made with the late founder of the
Islamic Revolution Imam Khomeini (R.H.) twenty seven years ago.
Ayatollah Khemenei described the historic move of Muslim and young
revolutionary officers a turning point which stepped up the eventual
victory of the Islamic Revolution.
He lauded the meritorious performance of the Air Force during the
eight-year Sacred Defense (1980-1988) and in materialization of national
self-sufficiency, urging the force to rely on God and tightly maintain
military discipline. He also called on the force to protect the spirit of
self-purity, innovation and self-confidence and tread the path of dignity
and pride of the Iranian nation.
He said the Ashura event urges not be afraid of threats, even take on
great measures. He referred to the attitude of the Iranian nation
following the triumph of the Islamic Revolution mainly in relying on
indigenous powers and practicing self-confidence and hard work to wean the
country off the outsiders.
"The capabilities of the Iranian nation and the country's young
generation in achieving and using the indigenous and splendid nuclear
technology has badly shocked the bodies of hegemony and arrogance, hence
their recent uproars" Ayatollah Khamenei said, adding, "dominance-seeking
powers do not desire to see nations mastering scientific capabilities of
their own."
The leader of the Islamic Revolution rejected threats of a-bomb
application by Westerners and mainly by the United States as lies or an
excuse to cover up their real intention. He regretted that international
communities have been losing credit and face to the clout of Westerners.
"While Westerners once approved the non-proliferation of atomic weapons
treaty, they in fact scrapped it by taking their Saturday action,"
Ayatollah Khamenei said, referring to Western powers' unjustifiable move
Saturday to report Iran to the UN.
Ayatollah Khamenei noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran gave the
Westerners an ultimatum by adopting due decisions to build confidence and
remove their mistrust during the past two and half a year.
"After that, Westerners finally admitted that the cause of concern is
not nuclear weapons, but Iran's access to peaceful nuclear technology with
which the Iranian nation will never bear," he said.
Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that the era of taking orders from US and
UK ambassadors is bygone, saying that the Iranian "officials mirror the
nation's will and resolve." He admired President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for
issuing his recent directive to national Atomic Energy Organization and
also his Sunday statement, saying he hit the nail on the head by adopting
the decision in par with the nation's dignity and sovereignty.
Ayatollah Khamenei described recent diplomatic decisions by the Iranian
statesmen as right, professional and adopted by prudent people who are
well-seasoned in international politics and also technical issues.
"Dominance-seekers have little tools at their disposal and their main
tool is frowning," he said, adding, "if Muslims and other nations
appreciate their powers it will fail as well."
He underlined atht the Iranian nation appreciated its capabilities and
warned that no power must overlook Iran's national sovereignty.
He urged for preserving faith, unity and national resolve, saying "the
Iranian nation will once again demonstrate its will and what its firm
resolve is directed at in Bahman 22 (next Saturday) rallies." He called on
the overall globe to open their eyes and carefully watch this year rallies.
In some other parts of his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei touched on the
ugly act of certain Western journals in insulting Islam's revered prophet
Mohammad (S.A.) and called it a scandal for the call of Western
civilization and Liberal Democracy for freedom of expression.
"In such freedom of expression, expressing doubt over or denial of the
Jewish killing in any form is prohibited, but insulting the sanctities of
1.5 billion of Muslims is allowed," he said.
Ayatollah Khamenei appraised the act as a premeditated ploy by the
Zionists to push Muslims and Christians to confrontation. He recalled the
Crusade remarks of the US president years ago and also these days support
of the European leaders lent to the heinous act under the pretext of
freedom of expression.
"Muslim nations showed due and timely reaction and they must do the
same, because the prophet of Islam (A.S.) is the focal point of all
affection and love and the world Muslim has been united around him," he
said, urging the world to realize that "the sacred and due fury of Muslims
is not directed at Christians, rather, it is directed at the villain hands
who hatched the plot and made the politicians of the hegemony world to
play into their hands."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that among other motives, the shocking win of
Hamas in recent Palestinian elections prompted the Zionists to hatch the
plot.
"During the Palestinian elections process, Americans officially made
financial aides to Hamas rivals, but to their dissatisfaction, Hamas
combatants won," Ayatollah Khamenei said, noting, "if free and fair
elections is held in any part of the Islamic world, opponents of America
will win the ballot in tribute to the hateful and nasty face it enjoys
among Muslim nations."
Ayatollah Khamenei called the victory of Hamas and the West's ensuing
opposition as indicative of bias in their democratic slogans.
"The current political juncture in the region, especially US constant
defeats and the expanding Islamic awakening are the great fruits of the
Islamic Revolution and the dignified movement of the Iranian nation," he
asserted, vowing that the nation will keep on its path of progress in
God's grace.
