Supreme Leader urges
appreciating war disabled/martyrs families as a duty
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali
Khamenei here Thursday referred to respecting the devotees, appreciating
the war disabled, and martyrs families as an ethical, religious and
rational duty.
Speaking at the gathering of a number of the officials in charge and
staff of the Martyrs Foundation, Ayatollah Khamenei added that the
magnificence of "devotion, sacrifice and freedom" and the need for an
attitude in line with such a grandeur, is comprehensible in the light of
ethics and spirituality.
"However, even if it is viewed from the point of rational calculation,
it would be realized that the country always requires combatants and
devotees. That is why respecting them is a reasonable task," added the
Supreme Leader.
Turning to the Divine reward as the true award of the martyrs, devotees,
and martyrs families, Ayatollah Khamenei said, "However, the Martyrs
Foundation is committed to solve the problems of the individuals given
coverage by the foundation, which should be accomplished properly.

Tehran, Sept 29 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Sayyed Ali Khamenei attended Wednesday the third joint graduation
ceremo0ny of military cadets .
During the opening ceremony, Ayatollah Khamenei paid tribute to the
lofty status of the Army martyrs and then reviewed an honor guard.
The Supreme leader eulogized the armed services and referred to the
military forces as "the symbol of power, national dignity and defendants
of nation's identity", stressing that 'in the world today, where the
passions and materialistic stimulants of the mighties replac the spiritual
and humane values, those who rely on their inner potentials and capacities
can maintain their glories'.
'Applying fresh forces in various organizations and apparatus, would
boost the level of knowledge and commitments of the system', he said,
adding that 'the recruits who enter the armed services should aim at
ameliorating different levels of their organizations, and this would be
accomplished only in light of relying on the Almighty God, and maintaining
affection, innovation, invention and observing the principles.
Ayatollah Khamenei described boosting scientific and defensive
capabilities and preparing the grounds for flourishing talents as the main
factors of might and dignity of a nation.
During the ceremony, the commander of the army welcomed the Supreme
Leader and said that the army is fully prepared to defend the aspirations
of the Islamic Revolution.

TEHRAN, Sept. 26--Leader of the Islamic Revolution and
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on
Monday appointed six commanders to new posts in the Army. Ayatollah
Khamenei said in his decrees to the commanders that the replacements are
being made as per the proposal made by the Army’s General Commander Major
General Ataollah Salehi, IRNA reported. The leader appointed Vice Admiral
Ali Shamkhani as head of Strategic Defense Research Center and Brigadier
General Abdolali Pourshasb as deputy commander of General Headquarters of
the Armed Forces for inspection affairs.
The commander-in-chief of the armed forces also appointed Brigadier
General Mohammad Reza Qoraei-Ashtiani to the post of deputy general
commander, Brigadier General Abdolrahim Mousavi as chief of the Army Joint
Staff, Brigadier General Mohammad Hossein Dadras as commander of the
Ground Forces and Vice Admiral Sajjad Kouchaki-Badelani as commander of
the Navy. The leader appreciated the services of the predecessors in his
decree to the new commanders. Ayatollah Khamenei appreciated the services
of Brigadier General Habib Baqaei, Brigadier General Nasser Mohammadi-far
and Vice Admiral Abbas Mohtaj, noting that the Navy made admirable
achievements under Vice Admiral Mohtaj.

Revolution helped boost national capacity
Tehran, Sept 25, IRNA - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution
Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said on Sunday that the Islamic Revolution
helped bring self-confidence to the youth and self-belief to the nation to
boost national capacity in science and action.
In a meeting with 16 top talented university students, the Supreme
Leader said that with reliance upon the bright talent of the youth, Iran
will narrow its wide gap in the field of science with the developed
nations and will reach the climax of science and progress. The Supreme
Leader expressed pleasure with the list of requests the talented young
students submitted to him and said that the topics mentioned by the
students had been on the agenda of the leadership and that similarity
between the requests and objectives of the governing system indicated
progress of science in the country. Ayatollah Khamenei said that carrying
out the requests are obligation of all officials.
The Supreme Leader pointed to program of President Ahmadinejad to set
up the Foundation of Talented People and said that thanks to national
resolve and hard works, the lofty objectives of the Islamic Republic have
been compiled in the context of 20-year Strategy Plan for economic, social
and cultural development "and God willing the nation will achieve these
objectives."
The Supreme Leader said that faith along with good deed is the
prerequisite for progress in all fields including in the arena of science
and the nation is currently making efforts to materialize the national
motto of "We Can". The students requested enough investment be made in the
field of science and academic research and asked the Supreme Leader to
assign officials to find out reasons for brain drain.

Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Sunday appointed Hojatoleslam Mohammad
Salimi to the post of prosecutor for special court of the clergy.
The Supreme Leader appreciated services of Salimi's predecessor
Hojatoleslam Mohseni Ejei.
Ejei resigned from the post after undertaking the post of information
minister.

Tehran, Sept 20, IRNA - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution
Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei here Tuesday praised President Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad for firmly and vigorously raising the stances and words of the
public at the UN on Saturday.
"The noble president too had at the UN, before eyes of the world heads
of state and on behalf of the Iranian nation voiced firmly, solemnly and
vigorously the stances and words of Iranian people; this means the strong
and unshaky will of our nation," said Leader of the Islamic Revolution
Ayatollah Khamenei.
Addressing a group of people on the occasion of the birthday
anniversary of the last Imam of Prophet Mohammad's (PBUH) infallible
household Hazrat Mahdi (AS), Ayatollah Khamenei said the great Iranian
nation has today stood stronger than the past and with an iron will to
promote its lofty goals and aspirations and will not bow to any pressure
and threat.
Ayatollah Khamenei said belief in reappearance of the last Imam of age,
Hazrat Mahdi (AS), will serve as a factor for hope, ambition, movement,
endeavors and courage of mankind and society.
The Supreme Leader said belief in the principle of reappearance of the
Imam (also known as savior of mankind) will also promise an end to the
ongoing tyranny and injustice in the world.
The nation believing in reappearance of Hazrat Mahdi (AS) will never
feel weakness and will proceed in the way to progress and dignity
powerfully despite all hardships and pressures and will not bow to the
tyrants, said the paramount Leader.
Concluding his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei called on officials to
strive for solving problems of the masses and for upgrading the nation's
knowledge standards in a way that enemies will no longer have an eye on
the country.
Supreme Leader: IPO, symbol
of intellectualism in Qom seminary
Tehran, Sept 19, IRNA - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution
Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said on Monday that Islamic Propagation
Organization (IPO) affiliated to Qom seminary is a symbol of
intellectualism.
In a meeting with officials of IPO, the Supreme Leader said that
enjoying positive aspects of intellectualism and refraining from the
prevalent defects from which intellectualism is suffering are prerequisite
for success of the IPO.
The Supreme Leader recommended the IPO officials to help expand
activities of IPO, put forward new ideas, be present in the domains of new
thoughts and get acquainted with new horizons of intellectualism.
The Supreme Leader said that innovation, open and free outlook are
essence of intellectualism, adding that open outlook forms foundation of
intellectualism and IPO is expected to take into account this factor,
because without open outlook it is impossible to achieve progress in the
domains of thought, science and action.
"Lack of distinctive guiding lines and inattention to the foundations
of knowledge are among the defects causing serious troubles for
contemporary intellectualism at international level.
The Supreme Leader said that religion and national traditions are two
factors guiding intellectualism, adding that the difference is that
national traditions are often coupled with bias and superstition whereas
transparent religious knowledge which is free from bias and superstition
can put the dynamic essence of intellectualism on the right track.
The Supreme Leader said that holding fast to the rope of Divine
knowledge and safeguarding "intellectual output" are among the
prerequisites for success of IPO in finding the position it deserves.

Tehran, Sept 14 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Sayed Ali Khamenei urged IRI guard corps forces to -- spare no efforts in
fulfiling their responsibilities.
Speaking to commanders and officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran's
Guard Corpse (IRGC), he called for the audience to observe devine piety
and patience in the face of hardships.
'The creation of a society based on justice and standing against
oppression are among devine tasks, while being conducive to the progress
of the human soul', he pointed out, noting that everybody who enters this
field needs more self-supervision and avioding worldly whims than any
other people.
'In peaceful era, one would achieve success in devine tests with more
difficulties than the war era', he asserted, calling for officials to pay
more attention to self-purification.

affection
Tehran, Sept 14 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Sayyed Ali Khamenei joined Jashn-e At`efeha (the fest of affection) by
granting a cheque of rls 200 million ($250,000).
A few days ahead of the begining of the school days, Iranians share
part of their properties with low-income students as a sign of benevolence.

Tehran, Sept 13 - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here Tuesday met with
the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei
prior to his departure for New York.
The president, heading a high-ranking delegation, left Tehran for New
York on an official five-day visit on Tuesday to attend the 60th regular
session of the UN general assembly.
In the meeting, the Supreme Leader wished success for Ahmadinejad.

commander
Tehran, Sept 11 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Sayyed Ali Khamenei Sunday appointed major general Ataollah Salehi the
commander of the IRI army.
Ataollah Salehi was appointed to the post after Mohammad Salimi
tendered his resignation.
In his directive, the Supreme Leader urged Salehi to promote combat
skills in the army.
He also thanked Salimi for his invaluable efforts during his military
tenure.

Tehran, Sept 8 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Seyed Ali Khamenei here Thursday assessed as very sensitive and heavy the
duty of scholars and the elite, political activists and influential people
in the present sensitive days following elections.
Making the remark in a meeting with members of Experts Assembly, the
Supreme Leader stressed the importance of safeguarding and promoting unity
in the society, supporting the government in its efforts to materialize
its programs and consolidating religious attitudes among the young
generation.
Pointing to the importance of the task of promoting the position of the
Islamic system in post-election days, he said the magnificent
participation of people in the election once again foiled the plots of
enemies and at the same time put a heavy responsibility on the shoulders
of officials and the elite.
He said those who hold a higher position and are more influential in
the society should try harder than others to eliminate the negative
attitudes created during the election time.
Ayatollah Khamenei further stressed that as the Supreme Leader of the
country he would support the new president and the government as before.

amnesty, reduced prison terms to 7,780 prisoners

On the auspicious occasion of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) appointment to
prophethood (Mabaath), Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Seyed Ali Khamenei on Sunday pardoned or commuted prison term of 7,780
prisoners sentenced by the public courts, Revolutionary courts, military
courts and the state punitive court.
Proposal for the amnesty was made by head of the Judiciary Ayatollah
Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi and was accepted by the Supreme Leader.
It has become a good-omen custom to grant amnesty on the auspicious
Islamic occasions including birthday of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and that
of beloved members of his infallible household by the Supreme Leader.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei
here Saturday stressed the importance of continuing resistance and Jihad
against the Zionist regime.
The Supreme Leader, in a meeting with secretary general of the
Palestinian Islamic Jihad Organization Ramadan Abdullah Shallah, praised
the great victory of the Palestinian nation and the Islamic resistance in
driving the Zionist regime from the Gaza Strip.
"Continuation and strengthening of resistance and Jihad is the only way
to encounter the Zionist enemy," he said.
Ayatollah Khamenei added that Jihadi groups are symbols of the
Palestinian nation's resistance and frontline fighters who are defending
Islam.
"Although withdrawal of the Zionist regime from Gaza is too meager as
far as the Palestinian nation's demands and rights are concerned, it is a
great victory over the enemy's front and supporters of the Zionist regime
which indicates the regime's helplessness," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
This victory showed that resistance would bear fruits, the Supreme
Leader said, adding, "Such a victory will be possible in other regions of
the occupied lands. Resistance should be
continued by the Palestinian nation and brave Palestinian youth in
cooperation with Jihadi groups."
The Supreme Leader pointed to weakening of the enemy's front as is
evident in the US setbacks in Lebanon, Iraq and its failure in political
confrontation with the Islamic Republic and said, "Such setbacks mean the
enemy is not as powerful as it claims to be and that the opposite side
enjoys great potentials which should be used properly."

Iraq tragedy
Tehran, Sept 1 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Seyyed Ali Khamenei expressed condolences over the martyrdom of hundreds
of Iraqi Shiite pilgrims in terrorist mortar attacks, and the ensuing
bridge stampede over Tigris river. In his message, the Supreme Leader
called on the Iraqi nation to maintain unity and discourage the enemies
from the enactment of their separatist moves.
"Hundreds of our dearest religious brethrens and sisters, including the
elderly, youngesters and children who were mourning at the martyrdom
anniversary of Imam Mousa Kazim (AS), met the Almighty God in the wake of
a bloody incident and left us in deep sorrow and lament. The Iraqi people
who have not forgotten the memories of the precedent explosions in the
holy cities of Najaf and Karbala by the enemies stooges, now came under
the firey bloodshed of mercenery terrorists in Kadhimiayh and face the
outcomes of their threats. Iraqi occupiers who have imposed their ominous
shadow on Iraq under the pretext of establishing security, are responsible
for the disasterous incidents and should respond for that. So, with a
heavy heart, I express my deepest sorrow to Baqiattallah (Imam Mahdi AS,
the last saviour), the Iraqi people, and the grand ulema of seminaries and
pray for the full success of Iraqi people, " the message read.
Supreme Leader grieve at "heart-rending"
tragedy of Kadhimiya
Tehran, Sept 1, IRNA - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution
Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said that heart-rending tragedy of Kadhimiya
district of Baghdad brought sorrow for the humanity. The Supreme Leader
said that his heart was filled with grief and shock at the extent of the
human disaster in the holy city of Kadhimiya.
"The bitter memory of explosions in Karbala and Najaf perpetrated by
agents of the enemies had not been forgotten yet. Another fierce attack
and subsequent threats took place which took heavy toll on mourners of
Imam Mousa al-Kadhim (AS) in Iraq on his eminency's martyrdom anniversary,"
Ayatollah Khamenei said.
The Supreme Leader called on the Iraqi nation to exercise solidarity to
disappoint the enemy, holding the occupation forces in Iraq responsible
for the bloodshed in the country. "Occupiers of Iraq have imposed their
ominous presence on the Iraqi nation under pretext of providing them with
security. They are responsible for such tragedies," the Supreme Leader
said. "With great sorrow and grief I extend my condolence to Lord of the
Time, Imam Mahdi (May God Hasten His Reappearance), the Iraqi nation and
government, religious leaders and theological centers of Iraq and I
earnestly pray to God to help the Iraqi nation leave behind the current
tragic period and bestow mercy and peace upon the souls of victims and
patience on their bereaved families." "I also appeal to God to help rid
the Iraqi nation and all the Islamic Ummah of the evil of arrogant powers
and aliens," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
