Supreme Leader: Iran proud of Iraq's progress, national sovereignty

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said on Tuesday that Iran is proud of Iraq's progress, security, independence and national strength and there is no limits on development of cooperation with Iraq. In a meeting with President Jalal Talabani in presence of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Supreme Leader said that Iranian and Iraqi nations enjoy long-standing religious, cultural and historical affinity and Iran is pleased with the political process for establishment of a democratic government in Iraq. "Setting up of a democratic government in Iraq and holding of a national referendum for new Constitution are exceptional opportunity for the Iraqi people to determine their own fate. The Iraqi nation is great and enjoys extensive capacity. Iraq will shine on top of the Muslim world in near future by overcoming the current hardship and destructions," the Supreme Leader said. "Your security is our own security and Iran honors Iraq's independence and power. You will extend assistance to you in those fields," the Supreme Leader said. Ayatollah Khamenei expressed grief at tragic events on Saturday and Sunday in Iraq and loss of lives of innocent people in the blind terrorist attacks in Iraq and said that Iran holds the US responsible for the current tragedies taking place in Iraq. The Supreme Leader called for national resolve to leave behind the current ordeal and said that Iraqi people are expected to foster national solidarity and pave the way for setting a timetable for withdrawal of occupation forces. The Supreme Leader predicted that the US and British forces will withdraw from Iraq with a bitter experience. Ayatollah Khamenei castigated US propaganda campaign against Iran aimed at damaging Iran-Iraq relations and said that Iraqi President Talabani's statement is a clear example of baselessness of US conspiracy.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that Iraqi people will be exposed to US pressure if the government and Iraqi people fail to strengthen their unity. "Attempts of certain elements to satisfy the US are doomed, because, Iraq and its neighbors will remain in the region forever, but, US presence there is temporary." The Supreme Leader called for implementation of the accords between Iran and former Iraqi transitional administration.

 

Supreme Leader receives female mountaineers conquering Everest

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said on Monday that Iranian woman have accomplished the hard task of scaling Mount Everest and this indicated the strong might of the Iranian youth. "The great feat demonstrates the true face of Iran. It depicts the fact that the Iranian nation is dynamic and alive. They have going forwards on the path of scientific and technological development by relying on the Almighty God and national capacity," the Supreme Leader said in a meeting with the female Iranian mountaineers who managed to conquer Mount Everest recently.

"It is an honor for everyone to see the young women accomplishing such a magnificent work. They brought honor for the entire Iranian community. I was filled with a sense of honor when I heard that the Iranian ladies reached Everest peak while carrying the flag bearing the phrase 'Ya Zahra'(AS)," the Supreme Leader said. Ayatollah Khamenei once again praised the brave Muslim women "who overcame the freezing and harsh nature of Everest thanks to their iron might and strong resolve." "This is a great action and actually represents the national capacity. It was just a publicity work which displayed the spirit of the nation."

Ayatollah Khamenei encouraged people especially the youth to reinforce their self-confidence and rely upon the Almighty God. He advised the respective officials to promote sports at public level. "All should exercise to protect their health. They should go mountaineering to enjoy clean environment of the mountain," the Supreme Leader said.

 

Supreme Leader calls for putting into practice 20-Year Strategy for Development

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said on Monday that putting into practice 20-Year Strategy for Economic, Social and Cultural Development would serve major goals of the Islamic Revolution. The 20-Year Strategy will be implemented in the context of four Five-Year Economic, Social and Cultural Development Plans (2005-2025) to be drawn up by Management and Planning Organization (MPO) and approved by Majlis respectively. In a meeting with Friday Prayers Leaders, the Supreme Leader called for observance of unity and vigilance, preservation of revolutionary spirit and values, boosting national resolve to move forward to progress and optimum use of national faith in Islamic values and morality.

The Supreme Leader backed President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's government and called for Friday Prayers Leaders assistance to the government and president. "Thanks God, both the president and government are seriously working in line with goals of the Islamic Revolution. All should help the government and president fulfill their responsibility." On impact of achievements of Iran on the Muslim World, the Supreme Leader said that Iranian nation have bravely hoisted flag of Islam and made headway to development and scientific progress.

The Supreme Leader said that Iran works to make breakthrough in line with Islamic methodology and set a pattern for the Muslim World, something which is worrying the global hegemonic power. The Supreme Leader said that in the wake of the presidential election, all should exercise vigilance and bolster national solidarity. "You would focus on common grounds and commands of Islam and seriously avoid any action or statement which may cause rift among people, especially in the current period (the aftermath of presidential election)," Supreme Leader said.

The Supreme Leader said that the need to preserve revolutionary spirit and values does not mean to accept irregularity which took place normally in the early days of victory of the Islamic Revolution. The Supreme Leader cautioned Friday Prayers Leaders not to raise great expectations from the government which require long time. Ayatollah Khamenei also said that the press have raised criticism about performance of the government which is unfair, because, the new government has taken office for only two and a half months.

 

Leader stresses on Muslim unity

Tehran, Nov 4 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution considered Eid al-fitr as one of the commonalties in the world Muslim and highlighted its significance for the unity of the Islamic nations.

"Today, Islamic nations have got awakened and the Islamic Ummah stands as an undeniable global reality", Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei told a meeting of government official as well as people from different strata. He prayed to God for the final materialization of the hope the Islamic Republic has created in the hearts of the Islamic nations by uplifting the flag of Islam.

He thanked the Iranian nation and the world Muslim for the massive and enthusiastic presence in the rallies of the World Qods Day, which resulted in the revival of the Palestinian and Al-Qods issue in the global arena.

"If the usurpers of Palestine and their international advocates once dreamed that the Palestinian issue will be let slip, the Palestinian nation's resistance and the Islamic ardor practiced by the world Muslim regarding the sacred Qods have made their false illusion end up in tatters."

Ayatollah Khamenei underscored that any backtrack of the Islamic government in the face of arrogant powers, the America's arrogant government in particular, will add their impudence.

"International powers in spite of their propaganda campaigns and uproars are not absolute and endless powers", he noted, emphasizing that they will see their desires failed given the nations' resistance. He reminded of the Iraqi case as an example which never took the occupiers' desired form.

He, however, declared that the Islamic Republic suspects the US and Israeli espionage bodies have hands behind the ongoing terrorist attacks in Iraq.

The leader considered the resistance of the Palestinian nation and Islamic nations as much effective in the failure of those powers' whims.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran's idea in the Palestinian issue is a repeatedly announced logical argument; all the Palestinian population must be allowed to select the Palestinian government during a free polls and before the eyes of the world," he said, adding, that legitimate government must put on dock the criminals of the Palestinian territories, including Sharon and others, in a competent court.

Prior to the Leader's speech, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad made some remarks.

He felicitates the Iranian nation and world Muslim on the auspicious Eid al-Fitr. He deplored that in today's world power is mostly held tightly by those who show no adherence to divine teachings and no stand no rightful idea, while also oppressing and plundering man' properties and committing terror acts.

The President reaffirmed that the IRI's backing for the rights of oppressed nations, especially the Palestinian nation, comes in line with defending justice, peace and affection to innocent human bodies.

"Despite the arrogant powers' desire, the world treads on the materialization of justice", he said.

"According to the Lord's vows, the righteous will inherit the earth".
