Leader shrugs off US intimidation
Tehran, Jan 29 - The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Ali Khamenei says the Islamic Republic will continue to show resistance in
the face of American threats and rely on the language of logic in nuclear
talks with Europe, adding the massive turnout of the public for
Revolutionary rallies in early February and Presidential elections in June
will show how determined Iranians are in their support for the
establishment.
At a meeting with thousands of people from various walks of life on
Saturday, the Leader offered congratulations to the nation on the Muslim
feast of Al-Qadir, and said Amerian statesmen, who are the ugliest
manifestation of hegemony, mistakenly thought Iranians will bow to their
language of threats and intimidation, but that Iran which is now much
stronger than early years of the revolution, will continue to build on its
faith and resoluteness to stand up to foreign threats.
Ayatollah Khamenei further said defiance in face of US-led hegemonic
powers is the main reason behind American hostility toward Iran, adding if
Iranians gave in to American pressures, there would be no accusation of
violation of human rights or support for terrorism. The Leader urged state
officials to draw on the support of the public which lends their
governance legitimacy, and stand firm against foreign threats.
Ayatollah Khamenei recalled American support for terrorist entities
like the ousted Taliban in Afghanistan and MKO terrorist grouping, and
said yet American officials audaciously accuse Iran of sponsoring
terrorism to end Tehran's support for the people of Palestine, something
which will never come true.
Ayatollah Khamenei went on to national interests will continue to lie
at the center of the policies Iran adopts on the international stage,
adding Tehran is seriously in pursuit of a solution in talks with Europe,
and that Europe should reciprocate Iran's behavior, something which has so
far remained elusive. The Leader urged Europe not to try to resort to
political ploys to buy time, citing the steely determination of the
Iranian people and officials who view acquisition of nuclear technology as
an inalienable part of their national rights.
Ayatollah Khamenei also called on Europe not to be influenced by the US
and the Zionist regime, saying if Iranian officials realize that
seriousness is lacking on the European part, a whole new approach will be
adopted. On the upcoming presidential election, Ayatollah Khamenei said
the polling serves as a major test for the Iranian people, adding massive
participation will esnure the rise to power of a president who represents
the will of the public.

Thousands of faithful and dedicated people from the holy city of Qom
called on the Grand Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah
Sayyid Ali Khamenei, on Saturday, January 8.
Thousands of faithful and dedicated people from the holy city of Qom
called on the Grand Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah
Sayyid Ali Khamenei, on Saturday, January 8. The day marked the
anniversary of the uprising of the people in the holy city of Qom against
the former regime in 1978.
In an address to the audience, the Leader stated that the people's
active and enthusiastic presence on the scene would ensure the
continuation of the country's progress and development. He called for a
massive public turnout in the upcoming presidential elections in the
country.
Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the 1978 uprising of the people in the
holy city of Qom against the dictatorial and puppet Pahlavi regime as a
significant historical event. He noted that the Iranian people, motivated
by Islamic ideals and relying on divine assistance, rose up to accomplish
their Islamic objectives.
The Leader went on to say that the divine promises came true when the
Iranian people overthrew the dictatorial Pahlavi regime, which served the
interests of the United States. He added that the scientific, economic,
political and cultural achievements and spiritual growth of the Iranian
people over the past 25 years are a direct outcome of their perseverance
and great efforts.
Further in his statements, Ayatollah Khamenei described the
self-confidence and independence of the Iranian nation as laudable and
exemplary. "This is the cause of the commotion and ballyhoo raised by the
arrogant powers. However, the world should realize that the Iranian nation
would not allow the United States to once again establish its influence in
this country," he emphasized.
The Leader of the Islamic Republic also referred to the machinations
and plots that are being hatched by the enemies against the Iranian nation,
but he made it clear that such plots are doomed to failure both at the
present and in the future. He said that despite this fact, the hirelings
of the United States and the Zionist regime would not give up their
dastardly attempts, since they have not realized that the Islamic
Revolution sprouted out of the Iranian nation, and that it was not
something dictated or procured by money.
Expounding on the efforts made by the arrogant powers to deceive and
mislead the nations, Ayatollah Khamenei stated that following the era of
old colonialism, when these powers had a direct presence in other
countries, and after the era of neocolonialism, when the agents of the
arrogant powers were installed in other countries, the arrogant powers
have now initiated a new phase of colonialism.
"The arrogant powers are now trying through their propaganda machine to
put on a fascinating face in order to attract other nations, but the world
public knows that the real face of the United States, Britain and other
arrogant powers is the ugly and abominable face that was exposed in Iraq
and at the Guantanamo and AbuGhuraib prisons," the Leader pointed out.
Ayatollah Khamenei further hinted at the fact that Muslim nations have
become disgusted and fed up with the United States. "The people in the
Islamic countries are waiting for an opportunity to express their deep
hatred for the United States and its agents. The reality indicates that
the era of the arrogant powers is coming to an end." The Leader of the
Islamic Republic stressed that at the present juncture, the resolute and
cognizant nations should play a historic role. He stated that the
experienced and talented Iranian nation may form the pivot of a great
world movement against global arrogance.

Seyed Ali Khamenei on Saturday paid tribute to the martyrs of the Islamic
Revolution.

the anniversary of the first anti-Shah uprising in Qom one year before the

political and cultural progress.

the nation has stood against propaganda campaign of the global arrogance.
The world should know that the US could not infiltrate into this territory,"
the Supreme Leader said.
Elaborating on the enemy plots to strike a blow to the Islamic
Revolution, the Supreme Leader said that the US and Israeli spies have
made several attempts in the past 10-15 years against the Islamic Republic
by simulating the uprising ahead of victory of the Islamic Revolution
(1979), but, they did not know that the Islamic Revolution took shape from
within the nation itself and it was not a matter of money or order.
The Supreme Leader said that the youth should recognize the real nature
of the United States and Britain and other world powers from their
disgusting practices in Iraq at Abu Ghraib prison and Guantanamo detention
camp.
Leader stresses national solidarity
Tehran, Jan 8 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Seyed Ali Khamenei said on Saturday that solidarity of the nation during
the upcoming presidential election would ensure national progress.
Elaborating on the necessity of massive participation of people in the
upcoming election, the Supreme Leader said that people have main part in
the political structure of the Islamic Republic and any plan to put aside
the people from the political equation belongs to the enemy.
"Whispers are being heard from the strategic institutes of the US and
Israel to the effect that the next election will not be free and people
will be put aside from the political equation. They are in fact lobbying
to boycott the election by the people," the Supreme Leader said. "But, the
nation will not care for such hostile lobbying thanks to its high
intellect and talent," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
The Supreme Leader called on officials to prepare the ground for
maximum turnout of people in the presidential election by bringing about a
sense of public enthusiasm for going to the polls. "The people also should

their programs to the people to pave the way for maximum turnout of the
