Supreme Leader grants amnesty
Tehran, April 28 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Seyed Ali Khamenei on Wednesday pardoned or commuted the prison terms of
3,631 inmates sentenced by the public, revolutionary and military courts.
The amnesty was granted on the occasion of the birth anniversaries of
Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and Imam Jaafar Sadeq (AS), the sixth Imam of
Prophet Mohammad's (PBUH) infallible household. Judiciary Chief Ayatollah
Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi put forward a proposal to that effect and the
Supreme Leader granted the amnesty as proposed by the Judiciary chief.
Leader stresses on Muslim unity
Tehran, April 26 - Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed
Ali Khamenei here Tuesday invited world of Islam to unity and vigilance
against the divisive plots of arrogance. "Unity is one of the most
important needs of Muslim Umma today and ever," said Ayatollah Khamenei in
an address to a group of state officials, foreign thinkers attending the
18th unity conference as well as Muslim states' ambassadors on the
occasion of the birthday anniversaries of the holy Prophet of Islam Hazrat
Mohammad (peace be upon him) and his sixth infallible successor Hazrat
Imam Jafar Sadeq (AS).
Ayatollah Khamenei said the standard and pivot of unity, to which the
Islamic Republic of Iran invites the world of Islam, is the holy Prophet
of Islam Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH). The Supreme Leader said that Muslim world
is facing its fate today due to little attention given to unity. There are
naturally certain ethnic, religious and political differences in the world
of Islam which can be solved through reliance on the injunctions of the
seal of Prophets, Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH), noted the Supreme Leader.
Enemies of Islam are ceaselessly at work to fan discord and hostility
among Muslims, that are times difficult to be overcome, said Ayatollah
Khamenei, adding that men of wisdom from all Islamic schools of thought
should maintain vigilance and resist all the tidal waves of the plots.
The Supreme Leader said Muslim Ummah's vigilance is the reason for
growing and more complicated discordant plots of the US and Zionism as
well as of other world arrogant powers. Elsewhere in his speech, Ayatollah
Khamenei said endless natural resources, huge cultural heritage, efficient
manpower and a big market of 1.5 billion Muslim population have prompted
the hegemonic powers to decide to extend their domination on the world
Islam but Muslims' unity would create a highly powerful fence against the
conspiracies and due to the same reason, enemies of Islam are fully geared
to demolish the barrier.
Ayatollah Khamenei said Iranian nation's Islamic Revolution is the
cause of awakening, self-confidence and hope among Muslim nations, adding
that since Muslim Ummah is influenced by Iranian nation, the world
devouring powers are aiming their plots against the Islamic Republic of
Iran.
The Supreme Leader warned that the world hegemonic powers are in
efforts to extend their yoke in the entire world of Islam -- from Africa
to Middle East and to East Asia -- and this gives a warning to the world
of Islam that if no resistance is made against plots of arrogance, no
Muslim state will be eventually immune against invasion of the world
devouring powers. Referring to the intellectual inability of the enemies
of Islam in presenting a lofty and attractive school of thought and
ideology, Ayatollah Khamenei said, "to cover up the failure and poverty of
thought, they (enemies of Islam) have raised the banner of defending human
rights and campaign against terrorism.. the US and Zionism are themselves
the standard bearer of violation of human rights and training terrorists."
Ayatollah Khamenei said Muslim elite, thinkers and politicians as well
as men of pen and expression shoulder the heavy duty to counter the
complicated plots of the arrogance. The Supreme Leader stressed that while
vigilantly facing the plots and unveiling the strong enmity of the US and
Zionism against the holy religion of Islam, one should fan hopes in hearts
of Muslims on their brilliant future.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that while using science, ration and wisdom to
empower Muslim Ummah from within, one should encourage resistance against
the world bullying powers so that God Almighty would fulfill its
irrevocable promise and Muslims and Islam would retain their worthy
position.
Young inventors meet Supreme Leader
Tehran, April 19 - Iranian young inventors, winning 43 wolrd medals in
the 33th international exhibition of inventions held in Geneva, held a
meeting Tuesday with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution,
Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei Tuesday. Pointing to the cruelties mede to
the Iranian nation in the course of hoistory, the Supreme Leader stressed
that the victory of the Islamic Revolution had prepared grounds for the
youth to bloom their talents. "We should increase national self-confidence
and avoid pessimism," the Supreme Leader underlined. He described thoughts
which underpin the concept of inability on the part of the Iranian nation
as lethal poison which blockades the roiad to progress.
Ayatollah Khamenei added that "the Iranian youth are at the very
beginning of their scientific progress, hence their duty to mount their
efforts towards scientific glories with both firm faith and
state-of-the-art knowledge". He stressed that the Iranian nation owes
those martyred for its scientific achievemnts of the kind. He urged the
audience to keep tribute to self-sacrificing people for good.
Supreme Leader visits aviation academy
Tehran, April 18 - On the eve of the army day, the Supreme Leader of
the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Sunday visited
Shahid Sattari aviation academy for four hours inspecting different
educational and scientific sections of the academy. The commander-in-chief
of the Armed Forces said that he was pleased to see young cadets working
in different workshops in the academy. Ayatollah Khamenei said that
graduates of the aviation academy should learn science and technology,
because they will undertake guardianship of the sky of Iran and security
of the great nation. The Supreme Leader said that his visit to the
aviation academy aimed to honor the army day.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that students of the academy are both educated
and well-disciplined which guarantees their success for serving the
security of the nation. The commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces said
that acquisition of science and technology by the youth of a country
serves national identity. Despite backwardness of the pre-Revolution era,
the youth have made advances in this field in the past 26 years thanks to
the blessings of the Islamic Revolution, the Supreme Leader said citing
the progress Iran has made in the field of nuclear energy, producing basic
cells, manufacturing airplanes, successes in the international olympiads
and scientific contests.
The Supreme Leader recalled "the admirable and surprising action of the
Iranian nation in toppling the puppet regime of Pahlavi" and said that the
victory of the Islamic Revolution had been the outcome of deep faith of
the nation in Islam. "The young generation is expected to exercise
vigilance to safeguard the achievements of the Islamic Revolution. In the
past 26 years, the United States and the Zionist regime have spared no
effort to strike a blow to the Islamic Republic, but, the great nation is
moving forward to progress. God willing, the process will continue," the
Supreme Leader said. The Supreme Leader said that the superpowers are
intriguing the world with human rights slogans on the one hand and
dividing mankind to first-class citizen and second-class citizen on the
other. "Absolutely, the humanity will stand against such division, because
the international community needs justice and will endeavor to restore
justice," the Supreme Leader said.
Leader receives members of MDO
Tehran, April 16 - The Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Seyed Ali Khamenei said Saturday the medical society enjoys high status in
Iran, appreciating the medical ethics and sincere behavior of physicians
towards people. Addressing members of high Medical Disciplinary Council
here on Saturday, the Supreme Leader extended his appreciation to the
medical society, saying that the Medical Disciplinary Organization (MDO)
should take into consideration the spiritual rights and ethics of the
medical society while considering the material benefits and rights of the
physicians.
Ayatollah Khamenei underlined the importance of dignity and
self-reliance in the medical profession, advising the MDO to ensure that
such a prominent feature is further manifested in dealing with patients
and that the medical society gets more respect day by day. In the meeting,
head of MDO Dr. Sadr presented the Supreme Leader with a report on the
election held recently within the organization. The MDO is scheduled to
resolve the existing irregularities in providing treatment and health
services and promote the economy of treatment, Sadr noted.
Tehran, April 15 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Seyed Ali Khamenei said on Thursday that the student movement has
undertaken the role of pioneers following national objectives. In a
meeting with members of General Assembly of the Islamic Associations of
the Universities and the Office to Foster Unity, the Supreme Leader said
that the student movement is the standard-bearer of a sense of
responsibility, innovation and a pioneer in carrying out national goals.
The Supreme Leader said that morality forms the essence of national
aspiration and establishment of a free, independent and developed
community and freedom of expression have formed the national goals to help
Iran attain its due status in the international community. "The student
associations are following the same goals and they would undertake
effective part in the process of carrying out them thanks to their young
spirit, bravery and courage to take risk. They would work on the forefront
of the national movement for the lofty goals," the Supreme Leader said.
The Supreme Leader said that both the nation and the student movement
see freedom of expression as a requirement for development and progress.
"From the Islamic view, the society needs freedom as human being needs
to breathe. We want a society with freedom of expression and such a
freedom will guarantee national development and progress. The student
movement should give importance to this principle," the Supreme Leader
said.
The Supreme Leader criticized certain individuals who mistake freedom
with sabotage and said that the students should not mistake freedom with
corruption, ignoring the law or treason.
Referring to latest statements of the US officials (about spending
money in Iran for so-called promoting democracy), the Supreme Leader said
that with this plan they have disclosed their timetable of intervention
for Iran so respective institutes would not allow certain individuals to
help the interventionist conspiracy. Elsewhere in his address, the Supreme
Leader said that attaining the status Iran deserves in the international
community is another goal of both the nation and the student associations
and such a goal can be achieved by scientific progress.
The Supreme Leader emphasized the need for active interaction with the
international community and said that Iran will never go to extremes in
the face of the international developments and Iranian community will not
surrender to isolation or putting barriers around itself.
The Supreme Leader said that insight and sense of responsibility are
the two fundamental requirements of the student movement. "They should
work as the vanguard of campaign against the hostile action plans of the
enemies as well."
Supreme Leader: Muslim population can become a
determining factor in formation of international policies and other public
moves
Tehran, April 6 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Seyed Ali Khamenei here Wednesday said Muslim population can become a
determining factor in formation of international policies and other public
moves.
In a meeting with governor of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Ahmad
Mohammad Ali and governors of central banks of the Islamic states,
Ayatollah Khamenei added Muslims should in practice prove that their
capabilities and talents are an undeniable reality. He assessed foundation
of the IDB and the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) as a major
stride towards cooperation among Islamic states.
Muslims take pride in following Islam, said the Supreme Leader adding,
"The Islamic world should further try to present a practical pattern of
advanced commands of Islam."
He said efforts to deprive the Islamic world of progress and its
influence on the international policy making are an extremely cruel act
against Muslims.
"Muslims should resist the move aimed at driving the Islamic world from
international decision-making scene and should believe in their potentials
and capabilities. Muslims should not yield to the demands of arrogant
powers."
The Supreme Leader stated the global arrogance intended to dominate the
Islamic world, adding, "The United States, which has engineered 'the
Greater Middle East Plan', seeks to establish a big country named he
Middle East' with ionist Regime' at its helm.
The Supreme Leader pointed to certain potentials of the Islamic world
including great human talents and possessing the world's major oil and gas
reserves and said, "The Islamic world can achieve a determining position
in the world through such capabilities and by relying on wisdom and unity."
Ayatollah Khamenei expressed appreciation for the efforts being made by
the Islamic Development Bank and the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB)
and highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation and exchange of
expertise among the Islamic states.
In the meeting, governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Ebrahim
Sheibani pointed to hundreds of million Dollars worth of Islamic banking
operations in the world and an increasingly warm welcome accorded to the
Islamic banking system even in non-Islamic states. He said adopting
similar strategies for Islamic banking operations, exchange of experiences,
relations with international organizations and review of new contracts in
Islamic banking system are among major IFSB duties.
Also addressing the audience, the IDB governor appreciated Iran's role
in establishment of Islamic banking system and the country's support for
cooperation among Islamic states in this regard.
Leader accepts Qalibaf's resignation
Tehran, April 6 - The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution,
Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei accepted resignation of commander of the Law
Enforcement Forces, Brigadier General Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf on Wednesday.
The office of the Supreme Leader issued a letter saying that the Supreme
Leader hailed the services and operations of the Law Enforcement Forces
under the command of Qalibaf and expressed his satisfaction over active
staff of the forces. The Supreme Leader hoped success for Qaliabf and
appointed Brigadier General, Abdullahi as the head of the Law Enforcement
Forces until naming new commander of the forces.
