Leader receives scientific elites
Tehran, Sept 26 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Seyed Ali Khamenei here on Sunday received a group of young scientific
elites, gifted students, and top students of university entrance exams.
After listening to view points of the young elites regarding
different social, cultural and educational issues of the country, the
Supreme Leader stressed that the explicit and clear way of expressing
views by the Iranian younger generation, particularly the young elites,
is a priceless achievement of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
Referring to efforts aimed at destroying the self-confidence and hope
in the younger generation during the pre-revolution period, Ayatollah
Khamenei said the efforts were aimed to create a dependent generation.
The Supreme Leader told the young elites to regard logic and
reasoning in expressing their viewpoints and noted that the objectives
of the younger generation should be based on hope, scientific promotion,
and problem solving.
The value of an elite and a scientist is in his creativity in line
with the country's exaltation in both spiritual and scientific arenas,
Ayatollah Khamenei said.
The Supreme Leader further praised the role of the youth in the
course of 1980-88 Iraqi imposed war.
Underlining the need for settlement of the problems facing country's
scientific elites, Ayatollah Khamenei called for establishment of a
foundation for elites under the supervision of President Mohammad
Khatami.
Tehran, Sept 24 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Seyed Ali Khamenei said the without devotion, no nation would be able to
defend its national identity, dignity, prestige, values, beliefs and
rights.
In a message issued on the occasion of fourth day of the sacred
defense week named as the day for appreciation of martyrs' services,
Ayatollah Khamenei said evading from the scene of defense against the
world's tyrannical and arrogant powers that commit njustice against the
free nations, would bring nothing but humiliation and captivity.
"This is a lesson that our brave and vigilant nation has taught
to all which remains in history," said the Supreme Leader.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the holy struggle of the oppressed Palestinians,
who have embarrassed and frightened the armed-to-the-teeth Zionists, is
in line with the same permanent lesson.
He added that the humiliation and bewilderment of occupation troops
in Iraq are the results of the same lesson.
Calling martyrs as "brilliant gem in the history of the sacred
defense", Ayatollah Khamenei said any vigilant and pure-hearted
person feel duty-bound to defend the cause of the martyrs.
The message was read out by the Supreme Leader's representative to
the Islamic Revolution Martyrs Foundation (IRMF) Mohammad-Hassan
Rahimian at the ceremony.
Tehran, Sept 21 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Seyyed Ali Khamenei in a meeting with members of the Assembly of Experts
referred to the efficiency of officials in fulfilling their tasks as a
criteria for their legitimacy and reiterated the need to take action
towards achieving the set goals.
Felicitating members of the Assembly of Experts on the festivities of
the auspicious lunar month of Sha'ban marking birth anniversaries of
three Shi'ite Imams, he said that the objectives, principles and values
of the Islamic ruling system are divine.
"Meanwhile the policies developed by the system are material,
vulnerable and subject to mistake. Therefore the officials should notice
their mistakes, learn a lesson from their own as well as those committed
by others and revise the related policies," he added.
Criticizing those who mix up the objectives and policies, the Supreme
Leader dismissed the approach of some officials who keep revising their
goals as reform.
Turning to the propaganda launched by the media of the powers seeking
hegemony on the need for reform in Iran, he said, "corruption is
what they have in view, not reform, given that the colonial powers
actually wish the Islamic Republic to revise its principles and values
to secure their own interests in Iran.
Urging the officials to enhance their efficiency, he said that their
efficiency depends on the fulfillment of their tasks defined by the
constitution.
"No official is expected to work a miracle, but their
performance should prove their efficiency and success in fulfilling
their related tasks," he added.
Attributing the hostile approach of the world powers seeking hegemony
towards the Islamic Republic to its serving as a model in the world of
Islam, he said that while they keep making threats against Iran on the
pretext of its nuclear program and enrichment process, the truth is that
the Islamic system has managed to introduce a logical model based on the
human needs.
"Thus it has managed to prove to Muslim nations that a system
based on Islamic principles is practical. Besides, in view of its daily
progress in various political, cultural, scientific, social and economic
fields it has attracted the attention of the educational elite, youth
and the world Muslims," he added.
Prior to the Supreme Leader's speech, the Speaker of the Assembly of
Experts Ayatollah Ali Meshkini briefed the audience on the need to
promote spirituality and establishing close relationship with the
Almighty God.
Tehran, Sept 19 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Seyyed Ali Khamenei deemed safeguarding the true identity of the Islamic
Republic Guards Corps (IRGC) the most basic responsibility of its staff
and commanders.
Making the remarks in the 16th nationwide gathering of IRGC
commanders and officials in the northwestern city of Zanjan Saturday
evening, he extended his congratulations to the nation on the birth
anniversary of the third martyred Imam of Muslim Shiites Imam Hussein
(AS) which is dubbed as the "Revolutionary Guards Day".
He described as a blessing the love of IRGC forces for their martyred
Imam and stressed that the Islamic Republic System in Iran due to its
religious qualities and also the religion-oriented culture of Iranian
nation could never be defeated.
The Supreme Leader further referred to cultural transformation,
continuous economic pressures, penetrating into political and cultural
structures and paralyzing active members of society as some of the
methods employed by the enemies to weaken the Islamic system in Iran.
Ayatollah Khamenei also pointed to the sensitive role of Iranian
nation as well as the IRGC forces in setting up the future of Iran, the
region and the Islamic world and defusing the plots of the big powers
for the Middle East region.
Talking in the ceremony was IRGC commander Major General Seyyed Yahya
Rahim Safavi who reiterated the readiness of IRGC forces in safeguarding
the Islamic Revolution and the sacred system of the Islamic Republic.
He also described the Ashura-5 war games as very successful and
hailed the cooperation of people of the three provinces where the
maneuvers were taking place with the IRGC forces.
Tehran, Sept 19 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Seyed Ali Khamenei on Saturday inspected the latest stage of the
military exercise of the Basij (volunteer forces).
The Ashoura 5 grand military exercise of the Basij has been going on
in western Iran for eight days with participation of 12 divisions of the
Basij supported by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).
The Basij carried out the military exercise against hypothetical
enemy in an area of 60,000 square kilometers. The magnitude of military
exercise has been unprecedented in terms of large involvement of
armoured divisions, helicopter gunships and paratroo pers to the trouble
spots.
The Supreme Leader visited the command center in Zanjan province to
monitor performance of the troops.
The Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces observed launch of
surface-to-surface missiles, surface-to-air missiles and offensive of
the Basij and IRGC ground forces against bases of the hypothetical enemy
aimed at mopping up 60,000 square km territory fr om enemy infiltration.
Prior to the start of the last stage of the military exercise, IRGC
commander major-general Yahya Rahim Safavi offered a report to the
Supreme Leader on the process of the eight-day large scale military
exercise.
TEHRAN, Sept. 18 (MNA) -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Saturday inspected the latest stage of
the most recent military exercise of the Basij (volunteer) forces.
Twelve of divisions of the Basij supported by Islamic Revolution
Guards Corps (IRGC) troops participated in the Ashura 5 grand military
exercise in western Iran for the past eight days.
The Basij carried out a military exercise against a hypothetical
enemy in an area of 60,000 square kilometers.
The magnitude of the military exercise has been unprecedented in
terms of the involvement of armored divisions, helicopter gun ships, and
paratroopers.
The Supreme Leader visited the command center in Zanjan province to
monitor the performance of the troops.
Leader plans Islamic block formation
Tehran, Sept 15 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Ali Khamenei said here Wednesday that the Islamic states could form a
powerful Islamic block through proper planning and mutual cooperation.
The Islamic countries should, in light of the existing circumstances,
upgrade the status of the world of Islam raising it to its highest level
by expansion of their cooperation in different fields including economy,
said the Supreme Leader in a meeting with officials of the Islamic
Development Bank (IDB) and participants of its annual conference.
The 29th annual IDB conference which was held in the Iranian capital
with the participation of finance ministers or their representatives
from IDB's 55 member states, ended here yesterday.
"The world of Islam enjoys plenty of financial potentials and
human resources and is therefore, able to play a significant role to
promote overall development in the Islamic states by properly using
those potentials and resources," noted the Supreme Leader.
Calling the IDB as a "successful" example of cooperation
among the Islamic states, the Supreme Leader added that consultation,
planning, firm intention, further economic activities and using
scientific and technological advancement were key elements which would
lead to the progress of the world of Islam.
Supporting the idea of establishment of a common Islamic market, the
Supreme Leader said that materializing this "practical idea"
requires a precise planning which should be made by the IDB.
He further referred to the insecure situation of the global economy,
citing now that the hegemonic powers threaten the Islamic states, under
any pretext, that they will freeze Islamic nations' assets, carrying out
banking activities mainly inside the Islamic states and within an
Islamic framework, could remove the state of insecurity.
Leader felicitates holy Prophet appointment
Tehran, Sept 13 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Khamenei felicitated the auspicious appointment of the holy Prophet
Mohammad and said that the formation of Islamic Ummah as a unique
blessings of the prophets's designation.
Referring to the wilful incursion of despotism against Islam as, the
Supreme Leader noted that today the Islamic world should stand against
US despotism any where and by any means in light of integrity and unity
of words.
Speaking among senior officials, the Supreme Leader stressed on the
implementation of the clear and comprehensive teachings, faith,
resolution and continious jihad as the main elements turning a small
community into a powerful, grand Islamic Ummah over the next years and
said whenever the Ummah have been commited to the substantial elements,
it has achieved glory and improvement and when undermining the elements,
the Ummah had failed.
The Supreme Leader turned to the formation of Islamic System in the
hart land of Islamic world -- Middle East region -- as paving the way
for raising the banner of Islamic identity and glory among Muslims.
Touching upon the all-out efforts conducted by imperialists to destroy
the Islamic identity, the Leader said today the United States launches
onslaught on the Islamic world, leaving the people of Iraq, Palestine
and Afghanistan in a bloodbath under the aegis of war against terrorism
while wielding democratic and freedom-seeking slogans.
Referring to the hatred spread among the Islamic world towards the
United States, the Supreme Leader stressed on the implementation of the
potentials by Islamic States and illuminating Muslim nations to face the
violations launched by the enemies and said that the logic of
imperialists have always stemmed from terror, force and violation and
not dialogue, fair compromise and the United States as a symbol of evil,
will never give up unless it achieve absolute dominance over Islamic
world and Middle East region.
The Supreme Leader criticised the Islamic nations' silence towards
the daily US and Israeli crimes in the Islamic world under the cover of
war on terror and referred to the US and Israel as the real causes of
terrorism.
The six-decade-long fruitless efforts of the Imperalism and Israel in
snuffing out the voice of Palestinians and the recent setbacks in Iraq
and Afghanistan indicates that the Islamic Ummah can stand against
despotism and paganism, the leader concluded.
Leader stresses importance of deepening
scholarly research and meeting society's needs
TEHRAN, Sept. 6 (MNA) -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said here on Monday that deepening
scholarly research and meeting society's needs are the most important
requirements in the field of theology.
Due to the great progress in the field of communications, greater
efforts should be made to produce new works in the field of Islamic
theology and to analyze them, Ayatollah Khamenei said in a speech to the
faculty of the Islamic Thought and Culture Research Center.
Leader stresses key role of prayer in society
YAZD, Sept. 1 (MNA) -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, in a message to the 14th Nationwide
Prayers Conference in Yazd on Wednesday, stressed the importance of
performing prayers and its key role in society. Ayatollah Khamenei
praised the great efforts made by the relevant officials, particularly
Hojjatoleslam Mohsen Qara'ati, to promote prayer in society.
The Supreme Leader also asked officials to make use of all the
existing potential to propagate this lofty Islamic principle in society.
The message was read by Gholam Hossein Mohammadi Golpayegani, the
director of the Supreme Leader's Office.
