Leader urges Persian language promotion
Tehran, Oct 30 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Seyed Ali Khamenei here on Friday evening underlined the need for
promotion of the Persian language and literature. Receiving a group of
Iranian poets, the Supreme Leader said such meetings would help safeguard
the Persian poetry as well as the language and literature. Ayatollah
Khamenei also expressed his satisfaction with the appearance of new and
brilliant talents in the arena of Persian poetry. During the meeting the
poets read out their poems on spiritual values and human aspects of life.
Leader donates rls 100 million
Tehran, Oct 30 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Seyed Ali Khamenei on Saturday donated 100 million rials to Imam Khomeini
Relief Committee. The money will be spent on paying compensation on behalf
of those unable to fulfill court verdicts to that effect. The fund-raising
drive was launched on the auspicious occasion of birth anniversary of Imam
Hassan (AS), the second Imam of the household of prophet Mohammad (peace
be upon him).
Supreme leader receives country`s senior
officials
Tehran, Oct 28, IRNA -- Supreme leader of Islamic revolution Ayatollah
Seyed Ali Khamenei received here on Wednesday heads of three branches of
government, chairman of expediency council, cabinet ministers, MPs,
judiciary officials and other senior civil and military officials. In the
meeting, the Supreme leader said, "The more the system`s officials should
pursue justice, high virtues and devotedness to Islam, the greater would
be our system`s efficiency and competence." The leader encouraged all
officials to do their best to achieve social justice and full
materializing of the Islamic values. Ayatollah Khamenei said that the
Islamic system`s resistance against dominant powers and Islamic awareness
are the main causes of the world powers wrath against the Islamic Republic.
Referring to US hue and cry over Iran`s nuclear activities, recently
echoed by the Europeans, the supreme leader added, "They know that Iran is
not after acquiring nuclear weapons, so they are not much concerned over
the issue, so the pretexts they create are aimed at interrupting the
country`s progress by occupying the minds of all three branches` top
officials."
He praised the Iranians as a people that comprehend complicated issues
thoroughly and are quite logical.
Touching on the ongoing negotiation between Iran and European sides,
the supreme leader said,"I say to those negotiating with representatives
of the Iranian people not to lead us to the conclusion, through unjust and
illogical words, that they do not believe in negotiations based on logic,
because in that case, the people and the Islamic Republic will leave the
negotiating table." Referring to logical interaction of the Islamic
Republic of Iran with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and
Iranian officials` yielding to all UN nuclear watchdog`s demands, the
supreme leader reiterated, "whenever there has been a logical word, like
inspection by IAEA inspectors, we accept wholeheartedly, and yet we will
never yield to any kind of oppression."
Ayatollah Khamenei said, "Long term suspension of enrichment is an
illogical demand" asking, "What kind of logical relation exists between
transparency and long-term suspension of (uranium) enrichment?" He
stressed the Iranians are logical, dynamic and ready to hold dialogue, but
do not accept illogical demands and they are ready to defend their rights
appropriately." The supreme leader added, "If, under whatever form, we
would discern a threat during the negotiations, that will be a sign of a
lack of logic on the part of those negotiating, and in that case the
Iranian people and the Islamic Republic will revise their stand on the
very principle of negotiations and continued cooperation."
Elsewhere in his address, Ayatollah Khamenei referring to the
spectacular achievements of the Iranian nation in various fields during
the past decades, reiterated, "If our officials improve their efficiency
in moving towards full manifestation of Islamic values, and remain
accountable about their conduct, keeping in mind that we have abundant
resources in this country and a nation with a successful experience in
construction and advancement campaign, the Islamic Republic`s success in
all fields against the infidels will be guaranteed."
The supreme leader meanwhile considered the holy fasting month of
Ramadan as the best time span for purification of souls and correcting the
mistakes made in the past for the nation and their officials.
Supreme Leader met martyr's families
Tehran, Oct 25 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Seyed Ali Khamenei here on Sunday received a group of families of
martyrs for an iftar banquet.
The Supreme Leader listened to the views of members of the families of
martyrs for two hours and held iftar ceremony with them.










Holy Qur'an reciters meet the Leader
Tehran, Oct 17 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolutionay Atollah
Seyed Ali Khamenei said on Saturday that reciting the Holy Qur'an with
rhythmic voice helps understand the divine message.
In a meeting with reciters and memorizers of the holy book, the
Supreme Leader said that good reciters and memorizers have been trained
in Iran in the past two decades.
"The major point that the reciters should take into account is
that they should recite the holy verses in a way to make the concepts
understandable to the listeners," the Supreme Leader said.
Reciters and memorizers were invited to Iftar ceremony in presence of
the Supreme Leader on the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.
Tehran, Oct 14 - Supreme Leader Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei have
deemed watching the crescent of the new lunar month as allowed by the
canon for discerning the advent of the auspicious Ramadan, a senior
official told IRIB Thursday.
His comments came amid reports Thursday by Tehran University's
almanac council which ruled out any possibility that Friday may be the
first day of Ramadan.
Numerous groups of astronomers have taken to observatories across the
country to see if they may observe the new moon Thursday night, Marvi
said.
Leader visits armed forces college
Tehran, Oct 13 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
sayed Ali Khamenei visited martyr Sattari Air Force University and
adressed a graduation ceremony of officers' college Wednesday.
The Supreme Leader in his speech to the participants in the ceremony
said militarism in the Islamic culture aims to defend religious and
human values.
"Iranian nation relying on God and enjoying young forces would
stand firm in front of the enemies."
Ayatollah Khamenei described militarism in the materialistic culture
equal to the harshness, cruelty and blind obedience to power and
wealth-holders.
He added armed forces should always enjoy modern knowledge and
technology and also use the experiences of the Sacred Defence.
He touched on a psychological warfare launched by enemies in order to
block the spiritual sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran, adding
'despite these attampts, our soverieginty has grown higher than ever
before, so that no regional policy map can endure unless Iran is
involved.
The general commander of the armed forces pointed to the evolution of
military strategies in the world and advised the armed forces to adopt
new methods.
The Supreme Leader also visited the exhibition of armed forces on
research and technical fields.
When the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces arrived, the national
anthem was played. Then the Supreme Leader paid tribute to the exalted
martyrs of the 8-year Sacred Defence. Ayatollah Khamenei then reviewed
honour guard.
Tehran, Oct 6 - The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution
Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Wednesday felicitated the Islamic
Republic of Iran Police (IRIP) on the 'Police Week'.
Taking part in the graduation ceremony of the police academy, the
Supreme Leader said that restoring law and order is the main task of the
police and that the law breakers and criminals must be strongly dealt
with.
The Supreme Leader advised the police officers to respect people in
their everyday contacts with them.
The Supreme Leader said that the IRIP should proceed with progress to
meet the expectations of people.
"The people expect the police to carry out its task strongly,
vigilantly, honestly and rapidly with a sense of understanding,"
the Supreme Leader said.
The Supreme Leader said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is one of
the safest countries of the world adding that presence of the
interventionist forces in different countries has caused social,
cultural and ethical disturbances.
Tehran, Oct 6 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Seyed Ali Khamenei on Wednesday expressed deep regret over the
disproportionate civilian casualties in Iraq and Palestine.
"Such massacres will not eradicate terrorism, but on the
contrary it will reinvigorate popular resistance and prepare the ground
for violent backlash in the region and the entire world," the
Supreme Leader said in his address at the police academy.
"As long as the international community keeps silent toward the
current crimes, there will give no support for human rights and no
action can represent the campaign against terrorism," the Supreme
Leader said.
Leader appointed air force commander
Tehran, Oct 6 - Commander-in-chief of the armed forces Ayatollah
Seyed Ali Khamenei on Tuesday appointed brigadier-general Karim Qavami
as air force commander.
The Supreme Leader appreciated services of the former air force
commander brigadier-general Reza Pardis.
Meanwhile, Ayatollah Khamenei appointed brigadier-general Hessam
Hashemi to head the intelligence office of the armed forces.
Commander-in-chief of the armed forces also appreciated the services
of former chief of the army's intelligence brigadier-general Abdollah
Najafi.
Leader receives 2004 olympians
Tehran, Oct 5 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution here Tuesday
said the olympic and paralympic champions and medalists are the symbols
of national identity.
Addressing the medal winners in a meeting, Ayatollah Seyed Ali
Khamenei expressed his gratitude to the sportsmen, who brought honor to
the country in 2004 olympic and paralympic games in Athens.
He said the championships motivate the people particularly the youth
to exercise.
That the Iranian Athletes manifest their Islamic faith in the
sporting fields is invaluable, added Ayatollah Khamenei.
When national champions thank God following their success or women
observe the Islamic dress code while competing in such events, they are
conveying the country's spiritual message to the world where massive
efforts are made to confront spirituality and religious values, noted
the Supreme Leader.
Ayatollah Khamenei also appreciated national judoka Arash
Mir-Esmaeili for his praiseworthy measure for supporting the innocent
Palestinian nation.

Leader pardons prison terms of some inmates
Tehran, Oct 1 - On the auspicious occasion of birth anniversary of
Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance), the Supreme Leader of the
Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei pardoned and commuted
prison terms of 1,660 inmates.
The amnesty was proposed by Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi
Shahroudi.
