Semnan, Oct 25 - Secretary for the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC)
Hassan Rowhani here on Saturday, said the Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution
Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei considers attempts to access nuclear weapons as
religiously illegal.
On this basis, he added, production of such weapons has no place in Iran's
defense and military doctrine.
Speaking at a student gathering in Shahroud Industrial University, he
underlined the pivotal role of the public support and their satisfaction in the
establishment of security.
Turning to the new meaning of security in today's world, he noted that
hardware security has been replaced by that of software. He further said that
this doesn't mean that the activities associated with hardware should be stopped.
Pointing to Iran's spiritual influence in the region and among the
neighboring states as a great asset for the national security, he said that this
is a big advantage for the Islamic Iran and that the country is by no means
willing to lose such an advantage for gaining access to nuclear weapons.
"Given the high cost of access to nuclear weapons, their production
would block our progress in other scientific and technological fields. In view
of environmental, technological, religious and ethic reasons as well as the
possibility of losing our influence in the region, Iran doesn't intend to
produce nuclear weapons. However, we are determined on economic and political
advancement as well as access to advanced technologies," he added.
Tehran, Oct 23 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali
Khamenei said here on Wednesday that relations between Iran and Pakistan have
been growing since 1979, marking triumph of the Islamic Revolution -- a trend
that should be con tinued vigorously.

Ayatollah Khamenei told the visiting Pakistani Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah
Khan Jamali that Iranian and Pakistani nations' interests and bonds go beyond
political ties and having roots in their cultural, religious and historical
backgrounds.
The Supreme Leader referred to ongoing condition of the world of Islam and
the pressures and threats against Muslim nations, particularly the Afghan, Iraqi
and Palestinian nations, stressing the need for further convergence among
Islamic states.
Ayatollah Khamenei said enemies, led by the US, fear convergence of Islamic
states and have always been in efforts to sow discord.
He added that Muslim states should maintain vigilance and move against the
wishes of the enemies.
For his part, Jamali provided the Supreme Leader with brief account of talks
he had had with Iranian officials in Tehran and said relations between Tehran
and Islamabad go beyond economic and trade domains, but definitely, they would
get further consolid ated in future.
Pointing to the conditions of Muslims worldwide and the pressures exerted
against them, Jamali said that on the same basis, Muslim states should move
towards confidence building and closer ties.
Tehran, Oct 20 - Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatolla Seyed Ali
Khamenei said here Monday that officials in Islamic states should set mutual
cooperation as their main target and help attain the goal by adopting unified
stances on many regional issues.

Ayatollah Khamenei told visiting Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika that
the most important problems facing the world of Islam are discord and rift.
Pointing to the "harmful" presence of the US in the region and the
issue of Palestine as the major problems facing the world of Islam and to the
highly sensitive and grave conditions in Palestine, the Supreme Leader said that
today, the Palestinian nation is in need of assistance and collaboration from
other Islamic states.
The Supreme Leader said Muslim states should fulfill their responsibility and
support the Palestinian people without fearing the US threats.
Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that the Zionist regime's defeat would result in
failure of the US arrogant policies in the region and this is something possible.
The Supreme Leader hoped for further expansion of relations and cooperation
between Tehran and Algeria in light of the policies and endeavors of President
Bouteflika.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Supreme Leader hailed the Algerian nation for
its brilliant record of struggles against foreigners.
The Algerian president for his part stressed the need for further expansion
of relations and cooperation between his country and Iran and said good steps
have been taken by his country in this connection.
He said that over recent years, Algeria has left behind critical conditions
and a national reconciliation policy has been adopted in a bid to improve the
economic, social and cultural conditions of the public and uplift the political
status of the country.
Tehran, Oct 16 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic revolution and Commander in
Chief of Iran's Armed Forces Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei attended the evening
military parade of Zanjan region's joint forces on Wednesday.
The supreme leader, addressing the Zanjan region's forces on behalf of
country's armed forces said, "The Iranian armed forces are the guardians of
high and humanitarian values."
Ayatollah Khamenei added, "The braveries of our combatants during the
eight years of sacred defense hoisted the banner of hope in the hearts of the
Iranian nation."
The leader recalling the martyrs of the Islamic Revolution and the sacred
defense prayed for the salvation of their sacred souls.
He said, "The Iranian nation highly respects its armed forces, that are
ready to face any threats against national security."
Ayatollah Khamenei further stressed, "Yet, your military readiness does
not mean that we are warmongers, but it is a sign of the Iranian nation and the
Islamic system's alertness.
Referring to the clamorous political campaign against Iran's advanced nuclear
technology, the leader said, "The arrogant powers in the world accuse us of
warmongering, and pretend that we wish to take military advantage of that
technology, but the real warmongers are those who launched two world wars in 20
time."
The supreme leader added, "Today too, the real warmongers are those
nasty capitalists who flicker the flames of wars here and there in the world to
fill their pockets more by boosting the international trade and sell more
weapons, at the cost of massacring innocent people."
Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the Iranians as "a brave, powerful and
yet, oppressed nation, arguing, "This nation will powerfully and resolutely
resist against the oppressive demands of its enemies and safeguard the prestige,
sovereignty, and independence of Iran, and the values of Islam."
Prior to the leader's address, the Commander of the Islamic Republic Guard
Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Rahim Safavi said, "The armed forces of the
Islamic Republic of Iran, including the IRGC, the army, basij mobilization
forces, and the disciplinary forces, are just as always, alertly ready to defend
Islam, the revolution, and dear Iran."
Zanjan, Oct 15 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali
Khamenei here on Wednesday called on officials to appreciate and utilize the
expertise of the elite in different fields including science, arts, culture,
sports, production, industry and agriculture.
Addressing a group of elite in this western Iranian province on Wednesday,
Ayatollah Khamenei said helping the elite is in fact helping the process which
influences both the present and future of the country.
So, said the Supreme Leader, all officials and managers must act in such a
way as to keep alive the talents, potential and merits of the elite.
Serving masses is "the most valuable type of worshipping",
Ayatollah Khamenei said, adding that serving the noble Iranian nation would be a
chance to win the consent of the God Almighty.
Ayatollah Khamenei said officials and managers must seize the chance of
serving masses.
Underscoring the "high importance" of unity and solidarity among
officials in various ranks on the bases of general principles of the Islamic
system and the Islamic and revolutionary values, Ayatollah Khamenei said the
enemy has been doing its utmost to divide officials and sow discord among
managerial ranks.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that thanks to God Almighty, the enemy has failed to
divide the top-ranking officials.
Officials of the middle rank, however, should maintain full vigilance and
refrain from any dissension and rift, said the Supreme Leader, adding that the
middle-ranking officials should not allow the media networks, running under
control of Zionists and the arrogant powers, to magnify certain issues and
viewpoints to reach their goals against the Islamic system of Iran and the
Iranian nation.
Tehran, Oct 14 - Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali
Khamenei on Monday called on Muslim heads of state to appreciate the importance
of the power of Muslim nations and solidarity among Islamic states and also not
be intimidated by US threats or be deceived by its dissembling smiles.
Addressing large groups of jubilant crowd, who had gathered at the Local
Workers' Sports Stadium in Zanjan to welcome him, Ayatollah Khamenei said that
Muslim heads of state should realize that the world's power centers would not do
a damn thing if Muslim states rely on the might of their nation like Iran and
resist 'illegitimate' demands of the arrogance.
Ayatollah Khamenei said, "This is the message of the Iranian nation: We
want to remain independent and free and we ourselves decide our country's fate
not the US and international haughty powers."
The Supreme Leader said explicit words of the US officials on the need for
changing the Middle East map point to efforts by arrogant powers to plunder
resources of regional states and provide the Zionist regime with more support.
He said that contrary to the efforts, the US faces enormous problems in Iraq
and Afghanistan and the Zionist regime is really afflicted and helpless in
facing Intifada thanks to the courage and faith of the defenseless Palestinian
nation as well as devotion of the Palestinian male and female martyrdom seekers.
Referring to his ongoing visit to Zanjan and the warm welcome extended to him
by the local population, Ayatollah Khamenei said, "What happened in Zanjan
today is an example of the will, determination and the spiritual might of the
iron-like Iranian nation, who would with all might defend their dignity and
pride as well as independence, freedom and Islamic Revolution."
The Supreme Leader called for unity and coordination in the ranks of the
officialdom to settle the ongoing economic and welfare problems of the public.
Ayatollah Khamenei said any failure in identifying public demands and
problems will be a stumbling block to social progress.
The Supreme Leader referring to unemployment and inflation as the main
problems facing the society and said the officials should try to identify and
address the major and real problems rather than the minor ones.
The Ayatollah hoped that people would turn out in massive numbers at the
upcoming seventh term of Majlis elections, slated for February 20.
The Supreme Leader arrived here on Monday morning to arousing welcome by
various strata of the society, including students, workers, civil servants,
farmers and clerics.
Zanjan, Oct 13 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali
Khamenei arrived in the city of Zanjan in northwest of the country on Monday
morning.
The Supreme Leader was warmly welcomed by provincial officials, including the
Friday Prayers leader and the governor general, at the airport.
Thousands of local people enthusiastically crowded around the car carrying
the Leader off the airport and he was embraced by a shower of flowers.
Ayatollah Khamenei had visited the city in 1985 as Iran's president as well.

Khamenei received President Mohammad Khatami here Sunday.
The Supreme Leader wished the president well on his upcoming trip to Malaysia
to participate in the 10th Summit Meeting of the Organization of the Islamic

Seyed Ali Khamenei here on Thursday stressed that the only solution to all the
existing problems facing the World of Islam is to maintain and strengthen the
Islamic morale and identity. Addressing participants in the 3rd International
Conference on Ahlulbait (AS), the infallible household of Prophet Mohammad (peace
be upon him), the Supreme Leader said since the Muslim Shiites have always been
forerunners in the Islamic unity campaign, the Islamic Republic of Iran
considers defending Muslim nations as its own duty. As to Iran`s support for the
struggle of the Palestinian people against the Zionist regime, Ayatollah
Khamenei pointed out that the Islamic Republic has not come to terms with the
Zionist occupiers, the global arrogance and their allies over the past 25 years
and will maintain such an stance in the future. Commenting on attempts by the
global arrogance, headed by the United States to eliminate the Islamic morale
from among Muslims, the Supreme Leader underlined the need for consolidation of
unity among the Islamic ummah throughout the globe. Ayatollah Khamenei further
paid tribute to the late Ayatollah Mohammad Baqer al-Hakim, the former deputy
head of the World Ahlulbait Assembly. Referring to presence of the occupying
forces as the main problem facing the Iraqi people, the Supreme Leader
emphasized that if the Iraqi people are allowed to choose their own ruling
system and constitution, they will certainly run their country in the best
possible manner. The Third International Conference on Ahlulbait (AS), is to
open in Tehran today with participation of some 500 intellectuals from 84 world
countries. The agenda of the meeting include reports to be given by Muslim
scholars and intellectuals, review of the problems of the Islamic world and
future programs of the World Ahlulbait Assembly.
Tehran, Oct 7, IRNA -- Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed
Ali Khamenei here on Tuesday stressed the need for Iraqi Shiites and Sunnis to
maintain unity and for various ethnic groups to strengthen solidarity to realize
the sacred goals of the Iraqi nation. In a meeting with Head of the Supreme
Assembly of Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SAIRI) Seyed Abdulaziz Hakim, here on
Tuesday, Ayatollah Khamenei hailed the former head of SAIRI the late Ayatollah
Seyed Mohammad-Baqer Hakim for his faith, courage, wisdom and vigilance and said
that although martyrdom of the late Ayatollah inflicted a serious damage on
Iraqi nation and Muslim Ummah, his martyrdom would continue to leave special
impact on conditions in Iraq. The Supreme Leader expressed pleasure over the
election of Ayatollah Hakim as the new SAIRI Chief, saying that the prudent
choice would guarantee the continuation of the path of the late Ayatollah Hakim.
Ayatollah Khamenei said negation of occupation is among the main demands of the
Iraqi nation. The Supreme Leader recommended the SAIRI to build close bonds with
high religious dignitaries and figures. He advised cautiousness in process of
Iraqi Constitution`s compilation so that it would be consistent with the will
and interest of the oppressed Iraqi nation. Hojatoleslam Hakim for his part
thanked the Supreme Leader and Iranian nation for their strong sympathy with the
Iraqis on Ayatollah Hakim`s martyrdom.
