community (26.6.2002)

Khamenei on Wednesday deplored the ongoing anti-Islam propaganda campaign and
the prevailing injustice in the international community. In a meeting with
Judicial officials, on the eve of anniversary of the terrorist attack against
Islamic Republic Party building where 72 senior officials including then Chief
Justice Ayatollah Mohammad Beheshti were martyred, the Supreme Leader said that
Palestine is an example of injustice in the world where the oppressed people are
deprived of all human rights. The Leader said that the propaganda machine of the
global arrogance introduces a regime which employs every means to suppress the
Palestinian nation as "the oppressed" while portraying the
Palestinians who are exposed to the worst kind of violation of human rights as
terrorists. The Supreme Leader said that justice will prevail at last, adding
that the propaganda campaign may influence the public opinion in the short run,
but after a while nations will understand the reality as detested by popular
protests in recent months in the four corners of the world including the United
States. The Supreme Leader honored the memory of 72 martyrs of the Islamic
Republic Party who fell victims to terrorist attack of terrorist Mujahedeen
Khalq Organization (MKO) in 1981. Ayatollah Khamenei said that the enemy dealt a
heavy blow to the Islamic Republic, but, the conspiracy was thwarted thanks to
the people's resistance to terrorist attacks. The Supreme Leader offered
guidelines to the Judiciary to fight against economic corruption and deal with
possible corruption within the system itself. The Leader said that the Judiciary
guarantees the constitutional rights of people and called on the Judicial

Tehran, June 4, IRNA -- Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei here Tuesday
brushed off US threats against the Islamic Republic, saying the Iranians are
standing firm in the face of foreign intrigues. "The nation ... will come
to the scene if the necessity calls and will rub the enemy's nose into dust if
it makes a mistake," he told hundred thousands of mourners at the mausoleum
of the founder of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini, in southern Tehran.
"The Islamic Republic is still moving ahead in a tempestuous and lively
pace and the Iranian nation and officials, united under the principles of the (Islamic)
Revolution and Imam, have been standing against the American impertinence,"
the leader said. US President George W. Bush exacted the outrage of Iranians by
accusing the country of being part of an 'axis of evil' along with North Korea
and Iraq. "The American regime is talking to the great Iranian nation in an
arrogant tone and a language of threats and despise, but the dignified Iranian
nation is standing against that ... and does not let any regime to affront and
contempt it," the supreme leader said. He paid homage to the memory of the
late Imam Khomeini, describing him as a 'great cleric, a religious scholar with
his own school of thought, a prominent philosopher, a great pacifist, a capable
statesman and a man of moral virtues'. "Imam's art was to found the Islamic
Republic on a strong and independent base and prevent the dissolution of the
Islamic identity," Ayatollah Khamenei said. He described the Islamic
Republic as a "new and unique phenomenon' which rekindled 'rays of hope in
the hearts of Islamic and non-Islamic communities', thus prompting world
superpowers to extinguish those flames. "Despite all these efforts, the
hope in the Islamic system is still burning bright among world Muslims,"
the leader added. Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated religious democracy as among the
principles sought by the late Imam and slammed the enemies for accusing the
Islamic Republic of being undemocratic. "The enemies are unjustly accusing
the Islamic system of being totalitarian, while in the 23 years since the
victory of the Islamic Revolution, 23 elections have been held in this country.
This is unprecedented in the world," he declared. "The freedom sought
by the Islamic system is an Islamic freedom which is both against an
unrestricted freedom in the West and a dogmatic and static religiosity,"
Ayatollah Khamenei added. He stressed the unchanging principles of the Islamic
Revolution to bridge social gaps, fight against financial, political and
economic corruption, uphold social justice, protect the country independence in
the face of enemies' influence, defend the world's oppressed and serve the
people. Ayatollah Khamenei paid tribute to the Palestinian struggle against the
Israeli occupation and 'martyrdom-seeking' operations of the Palestinian youth
in the occupied territories. "The Palestinian nation have come to the scene
to stand against the sham Zionist regime and its accomplice namely, America.
"The martyrdom-seeking of the pious Palestinian youth has created the
greatest threat to imperialism," he added. The leader called Israel a 'false
and illegitimate' regime and denounced any negotiation which may lead to its
recognition as 'non-enduring and futile'. A two-day international conference on
Palestine wound up work here Monday, with participants calling on Islamic
countries to ban American goods and advertising them in the media. In a
resolution issued, they also asked Muslim governments to let shipments of their
nations' donations reach Palestinians.

Tehran, June 2, IRNA -- The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution,
Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, here on Sunday said the movement of Imam Khomeini
"laid the foundation of Islamic Jihad and sacrifice and gave a new life to
the Palestinian cause and aspirations." In his message to participants of
the `International Conference on Imam Khomeini and Support for Palestine' which
kicked off Sunday, the Supreme Leader said the conference is "yet another
symbolic and valuable initiative intended to inspire the struggles of the
Palesitnian people against the occupiers." The following are excerpts of
the Supreme Leader's message: "US Middle East policies in the aftermath of
the Camp David Accords have inflicted a heavy blow on the legitimate rights of
the Palestinian people, leading to the conclusion of the Oslo agreement. These
policies were mainly concentrated to frustrate the spirit of Jihad and
resistance among the Palestinian people, prompting gradual elimination of
Palestinians from all regional equations. "Today, the Palestinian people,
being inspired with the Islamic faith continue to sacrifice their lives in order
to build a future that was beyond the imagination of the enemies and even the
friends of Palestine. "What is now going on in Palestine amply demonstrates
the imminent unfolding of an ultimate future that has been promised by Allah to
the faithful and unfaltering Mujahids. The brutal and repressive Zionist regime
supported by the United States, world Zionism and the reactionary crusaders
wishfully think that their criminal behavior and catastrophic atrocities will
force the Palestinians to surrender. This is a sheer mistake... "The
executioners and murderers of Tel-Aviv could only kill scores of innocent
civilians and destroy Palestinian towns. They have never been able destroy the
resolute determination of the Palestinian people. The Intifada of Masjid-al-Aqsa
is one of the divine signs that will vehemently punish these devilish criminals.
"Failures of the Zionist regime and its accomplice, the United States, have
forced these criminals to resort to new tactics in order to save themselves from
plunging further into the current quagmire. The new strategy of bringing the
Palestinians back to the negotiation table is only intended to divide the
Palestinian groups, thus quelling the flames of Intifada. "The Zionist
regime has proved that it is in no way committed to any agreement or logic. They
only believe in the logic of coercion, force, aggression and expansionism.
"Today, the governments and peoples of the Muslim world, particularly the
Arab nations, have a crucial and heavy responsibility towards the Palestinians.
The obligation of the people and individuals particularly Ulamas, religious
scholars, political figures, academicians and intellectuals is equally important
and crucial." Ayatollah Khamenei concluded by urging Muslims all over the
world to "mobilize all material and spiritual resources to boost the morale
of the Palestinian people in their holy jihad against the occupiers." Over
160 high-ranking officials from host country Iran and 23 other countries are
participating in the conference.
