Ayatollah Seyyid Ali Khamene’i addressed a large gathering of the pilgrims and people
in Mashhad Saturday, elaborating on the economic," political and propaganda
conspiracies of the enemies against the Iranian nation. The leader stated that being
economic minded through refrainment of extravagancy, conservation of resources, being
gratified and steadfast to the values and ideals of Islam and the Islamic revolutionary is
not only bound to disappoint the enemies but it will also help preserve and consolidate
the dignity and the greatness of the Islamic Republic of Iran in different areas. The
leader pointed out that active, alert and efficient nation has proved that it can focus
its attention in finding solution in matters related to its own affairs through the
refrainment of extravagancy, conservation of resources and leading a content life so as to
neutralize the plots of the enemies. Ayatollah Khamene’i stressed that prodigality is
forbidden in Islam and that the enemies are pushing the nation towards being extravagant
to attain their goal. "The enemy is trying to exert its influence by bringing oil
price to its lowest ebb and imposition of its sanction against the Islamic Republic of
Iran in order to deliver an economic blow to the nation," expounded the
leader.

"the incessant propaganda machinery, economic satanic designs and

country's economy towards non-oil income through an increase of production, and the export
of agricultural produce, industrial items and expertise services." "only then
could oil be used as a efficient instrument in the international leverage of power
politics by the islamic republic of iran," deduced the leader.

plot is to humiliate the nation by smirching the dignity, honor and respect in the eyes of
the people of the world. "today the iranian nation is ever-powerful, determined and
valiant and that it acts according to its own free-will and volition and that no other
powers can dictate it will over the sovereignty of the islamic republic of iran," the
supreme jurisprudent pointed out. "it is this status that is being highly esteemed
and specifically valued as the prestigious position of the iranian nation," said the
leader.
the grand ayatollah stated that "it is also this honorable status
that has been recognized by other nations around the world during the islamic
revolution,
the eight-year iraqi imposed war, the economic sanction, and other political scenarios
devised against iran." in other part of his speech, referring to the myconos
affairs,
where europe was made to accept the terms laid by the islamic republic of iran, leader of
islamic revolution pointed out that "we are not forced to have relations with the
united states and that we shall maintain our stance with dignity, basing our policy on
islam and national power." "the islamic republic of iran has not been isolated
by having no ties with the united stated; on the contrary, it is the u.s. which has been
isolated in most of instances. the eighth oic summit in tehran last december is a good
example to cite," ayatollah Khamene’i stated.

nation on the occasion of the Iranian new year which started at 23:24 hours
Friday. In his message, he offered his felicitations to all Iranians living in Iran and abroad and
especially to the families that have contributed to the progress of the Islamic revolution
by their enterprising and self-sacrificing acts. "The year that we have just left
behind was full of big events with sweet and bitter developments. In my Opinion one of the
most important events last year was the presidential election and the vast participation
of the people in that election, said the leader. Ayatollah Khamene’i further said
that we know the people have expectations from the government in various fields. They are
proper expectations in the main. The officials with various government agencies are trying
to fulfill the expectations of the people but there are also enemies who try to torpedo
their efforts.... "one such act has been the reduction in price of oil... I do not
mean to say that it has been undertaken solely and independently by our enemies with the
idea of pounding a blow only to the Islamic republic. The plot has been truly by our
enemies, but then, too, our enemies have also been aided by uninformed friends and also by
people who were unable to think wisely and intelligently. they adopted wrong
decisions,
and of course they were aided and abetted by our enemies, said the leader. " We must
cope with that situation intelligently ... I wish to advise the dear Iranian nation
against extravagant consumption, he added. "I pray for you again, and hope this will
be a happy new year and a revitalizing and blessfull spring for the people with a
prosperous and proud year for all, Ayatollah Khamene’i added.

same path. "we know that the people have expectations from the government in various
fields. they are proper expectations in the main. the officials with various government
agencies are trying to fulfill the expectations of the people but there are also enemies

"we are no exception to the governments and nations that have
historically existed. all of them have had their own enemies. we, too, have our own
enemies. those nations adopted different strategies in their confrontation with their
enemies which were responsible for their fate. many stood out against their enemies wisely
and adamantly and ended out triumphantly. many proved wanting in determination, and proved
too simple-minded and gullible in dealing with their enemies and suffered defeat. we must
take a lesson...

overlook our future needs. everybody must think seriously of thrift and economical
consumption. "my primary recommendation to the people this year is to be wise
and economic consumers. so, too, must be the administration. the
administration, in addition to economizing on consumption must also teach the nation how
to do it... and do it in time... "this is not to invite the people to any period of
economic austerity. we are not compelled to do that. the economic austerity is an unhappy
scene which i hope will never be staged here. i only invite the people to reasonable
thrift, and of the kind in which they will take pride. a wise thrift by wise and discreet
people who know that they will ensure their future by economizing on consumption, who know
that in doing so they will have helped the normal life and the economic well-being of
their nation, who know that they will thereby have helped the administrators to adopt wise
decisions for handling the affairs of the state.

revolution,
ayatollah Seyyid Ali Khamene’i on tuesday expressed condolence on the loss of top
iranian math students who died in a road accident on monday night.
a bus carrying a group of top students from a conference in ahvaz to
tehran overturned on ahvaz-khorramabad hughway, leaving eight students dead and many
others enjured. the students had been invited by shahid chamran university of ahvaz to
attend a conference arranged by the association of iranian mathematicians for the elite
students of iranian universities studying mathematics. ayatollah Khamene’i expressed
deep regret over the loss of the young top students and sympathized with the academic
community and the bereaved families. he prayed to the almighty for an immediate recovery
of those who received injury in the accident.
