IRAN NEWS POLITICAL DESK TEHRAN - Leader of the Islamic Revolution,
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, yesterday said presence of foreign, particularly U.S., troops in
the Persian Gulf is the main source of tension in the region.
He said the multitude of warships, submarines, jet fighters and other
offensive military machinery, stockpiled by the U.S. and is allies in the Persian Gulf
region, contradict the current peace propaganda emanating from Washington and some
European capitals.
The Islamic Republic News Agency, IRNA, quoted Ayatollah Khamenei as
saying the world's Muslim population including those in Jordan, Egypt and
Morocco,
"unlike their weak leaders, do not accept the treacherous and brutal compromise
accord with Israel and will never remain silent in the face of such outright
oppression."
Speaking to a large group of people at Ray, south of Tehran, after a
pilgrimage to the shrine of Hazrat Abdolazim (peace be upon him), the Leader said the U.S.
president and his administration are directly responsible for the murders and other
atrocities committed by the Zionist regime against the people of Palestine.
Speaking about the Zionist regime's open policy of murdering Islamic
activists, the Leader condemned Western human rights organizations for being silent on
this criminal policy and state terrorism of the Zionist entity. He said by ignoring the
murderous acts of the Zionists, the so-called supporters of democracy are endorsing
brutality against the Palestinian nation.
Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized that the government and the people of
Islamic Iran will not be silent on Israel's criminal behavior towards the Muslim people of
Palestine.
He reiterated that the Islamic Republic intends only to "help,
cooperate, and advise the Persian Gulf littoral states," and cautioned those states
to guard against a future of regional enmity which will result from their following
"Imperialist Satans."
Ayatollah Khamenei stated that the U.S. and Europe are well aware that
the popular and powerful government of Iran can forge a mighty block with the Persian Gulf
littoral states to prevent the plundering of the resources of this oil-rich region by
foreign countries. That is why "the arrogant powers have embarked on sowing discord
among neighbors, and have done their best to convince Iran's neighbors that they should
fear the Islamic Republic," said Ayatollah Khamenei, quoted by IRNA.
The Leader concluded by saying "the Iranian nation is inspired by
the glorious Qoran. We love humanity, we accept all nations and extend our hand in
friendship and spirit of cooperation towards them."

address, Ayatollah Khameni said modern global propaganda machines are being used to spread
anti-iran rhetoric.
The Leader said that despite all the efforts of Iran's enemies, the Islamic system
continues its advance and Iran's strong convictions together with its geopolitical
strength and the solid foundation of the Islamic Republic will enable it to withstand any
onslaught by the enemies of Islam. Ayatollah Khamenei praised President Hashemi
Rafsanjani's administration for its tireless efforts in upgrading the economy despite U.S.
efforts to isolate the Islamic Republic in the international arena.

on its own path and that the strength of iranian nation, geopolitics of the region and the
solid foundation of the islamic republic of iran can well deal with all these adverse
efforts. the leader referred to the moves made by the u.s. and the zionist regime in order
to impose economic hardship upon iran and said agents of the world arrogance do not supply
iran with the equipment which could be used to boost scientific and industrial capabilitiy
of the islamic republic of iran. but, to the dismay of the enemies, all factories in iran
are operating in full capacity due to the hard work of the officials and president akbar
hashemi rafsanjani, the leader said.
elsewhere in his speech, the leader said that according to the teachings of the holy
quran, there is a constant clash between just and unjust and that the wrongdoers and the
wrong acts leave their impacts on others. therefore, the corrupt elements and wrongdoers
are main obstacles on the ways of materialization of god almighty"s promise and
hinder effects of good and righteousness, added the supreme leader.

Ayatollah Khamenei yesterday afternoon visited Ayatollah Araki at Tehran's Martyr Rajaee
Hospital yesterday. The eminent Leadership was informed about the ayatollah's medical
condition and prayed for his health and longevity. The medical team treating the ayatollah
said his condition was satisfactory.
IRAN NEWS NATIONAL DESK TEHRAN - The Leader of the Islamic Revolution,
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei yesterday attended the funeral service held here for 1,000
martyrs of the Iraqi imposed war. Ayatollah Khamenei joined tens of thousands of mourners
who had gathered in front of the Majlis building in central Tehran to pay tribute to the
martyrs. The remains of the soldiers and militiamen were recently found on the war
fronts.
Trailer trucks carrying the coffins of the martyrs draped in the flag of the Islamic
Republic drove past Tehran streets while helicopters flying in the sky showered flowers on
them, IRNA reported. The mourning procession, chanting ``death to the U.S." and
``death to Israel", lined up the streets leading to the Majlis premises in central
Tehran.
Some of the relatives of the martyrs, interviewed by IRNA, said that to
them, defending Islam and the values of the Islamic Revolution was of high
priority. A
mother who has lost two of his sons said that she was still ready to sacrifice her life
and property for the cause of Islam. As the mourners followed the trailer trucks carrying
the bodies of martyrs through Tehran streets, shopkeepers closed their shops and joined
the procession. IRNA said the streets where the mourners were moving were so crowded that
traffic of motorcars came to a halt.

issued a statement here wednesday, expressing condolences on the death of majlis deputy
hojatoleslam housseini shahroudi. majlis deputy from the northern city of
shahroud,
housseini shahroudi died on tuesday in a london hospital where he was receiving treatment
for cancer. elsewhere in his statement, the leader said the late hojatoleslam shahroudi
was a learned alim and hard working man who spent his short life on supporting the islamic
republic and serving the muslim people of iran. ayatollah khamenei expressed condolences
to the bereaved family members of the late shahroudi, people and ulama of
shahroud.

economic sanctions against the zionist regime was the ""greatest treason to the
history of arab states"" he said the zionists have usurped an islamic country

embargo have not only condoned the usurption of palestine and the oppression of its muslim
