tehran, aug. 31, irna -- the leader of the islamic revolution, ayatollah seyyed ali khamenei, lauded performance of the government in economic, industrial, educational, health care, cultural and political sectors during the first 5-year development plan (1990-1994). the leader made the remark in a meeting with president akbar hashemi afsanjani and the cabinet ministers tuesday on the last day of the government week. he said that although performance of the government had been beyond expectation and its undertakings, people were not fully informed of the achievements. stressing that iran's present political status had no precedence in the past two centuries when the country was subject tohumiliation of the world oppressors, ayatollah khamenei said that today iran would not yield to any force. the government today is the manifestation of the power of the nation, the leader said adding that this power should be further strengthened through adopting resolute and calculated policies. elsewhere in his remarks the leader turned to the importance of propaganda in the contemporary era and said that major propaganda apparatus in the world, being administered by the zionists, were propagating against iran. the zionist radio stations and news agencies would disseminate fabricated news everyday in order to dissappoint the people and influence relations between the people and the government,ayatollah khamenei noted. to counter such conspiracies the leader recommended that! broadcasting (irib) should improve their programs, both in quality and quantity, and at the same time inform the public of the realities. at the end of the meeting, the leader called on the government to take steps to guarantee social justice and underlined the need for further attention t the low-income and vulnerable sections of the society.
