Tehran. Oct. 28. 1983 (IRNA) - President Khamenei in a sermon
thousands of people at the Friday mass prayers here said that the Islamic Republic is
ready to confront any foreign power with designs to jeopardise Iran. He said in the event
of an encounter the foreign invaders will assuredly be the ultimate losers.
Addressing the Persian Gulf states, President Khamenei reminded
them the war was not initiated by Iran but rather by the ruling government in
Iraq. He
said instead of worrying about any harm to them by the Islamic Republic, the Persian Gulf
states would be much better off to stop their aids to Baghdad and thereby permit the
Islamic Republic to do away with the Iraqi regime which he said is the cause of all chaos
in the Persian Golf region. Excerpts: An Iraqi military commander who was asked why
his troops would not take the offensive against the Iranian troops, and why they would
often retreat from the battle scenes, said in response that the Iraqi officials did not
know the facts of the war and the status of the Iraqi soldiers. The Iraqi commander said
that many times had seen Iranian combatants deliberately stepping on mine fields and
embracing all sorts of dangers in order to attack the Iraqi Forces while on the home front
he had detected his own men quietly taking off their boots and sneaking away from the
battle scenes..."
The Western and the Eastern powers have joined the cause to save
the ruling government of Baghdad. France and the United States are the stage managers of
this scenario. They are the ring leaders. They have proposed a resulting to the UN
Security Council for the purpose of saving Saddams government from the legitimate
demands of our people. Naturally we do not have high expectations from the UN Security
Council why? Because the council is incapable of issuing a fair and just
resolution. Is it
all possible that a council whose resolution can be vetoed by France and the United States
would ever do any thing in the interest of the people of Iran?...
